The last time we went out for dinner we tried Rosie's Italian.. What a nightmare. Had to wait an hour even know we had a reservation and then we waited half an hour at the table before we even saw the waitress. Food was average at Rosie's and service was awful. The food and service have been consistently outstanding. The menu stays away from the heavy red sauced Italian entrees often found at a restaurant that bills itself as "Italian." The chef goes to great lengths to use fresh ingredients - even to the point of growing his own herbs in a garden adjacent to the restaurant. The restaurant can be quite noisy on Friday and Saturday evenings. Had made reservations online for 5:30 and had no problems being seated. It wasn't very crowded when we got there, but the later it got the more crowded it became and this was on a Sunday, not Friday or Saturday. Would recommend going earlier. The waiter was very attentive and informative and the service was excellent. The food was great and a unique menu on ipads or a tablet with pictures of all of the items. We splt the salmon over cheese ravioli and it was great. Was impressed that they didn't charge to split. Some restaurants do and I don't agree with that as I don't eat alot at one sitting. From the time we walk in the door until the time we walk out an evening at Ciao! is always a great experience. One of the best wine lists in the area, available by a 5 or 8 ounce pour or bottle. I highly recommend the Salmone con Spinaci, Filetto di Manzo or the Ravioli con Funghi (I order mine with the Pomodoro Basilico instead of the cream sauce). From their appetizer menu the Carciofi Ripieni is fantastic - could easily be a meal along with either the house or caesar salad. Also, when I arrived at the restaurant, I stood at the Hostess Stand for several minutes and noone asked me if I needed any help. Never saw the Hostess. Many servers walked throughout the restaurant and certainly saw me standing there but didn't offer any assistance to me. Finally, the Hostess showed up and seated me and my friend that arrived just before the Hostess did! Nevertheless, putting this aside, we all love Ciao! and had a very nice server (young woman). The scallopine with rosemary and mushrooms is a long time favorite. This night we were dining with friends, and the menu was varied enough that everyone found a pleasing option for their preferences. The food is consistant. I have never had a bad meal there. The wait staff is excellent.
