A word from Ciao Wine Bar
Ciao Wine Bar offers a truly authentic Italian experience in a contemporary yet soulful environment in the heart of Toronto’s Yorkville District. This new Italian eatery and wine bar, created by the Liberty Entertainment Group, offers traditional Italian fare in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

While Ciao encompasses over 8,000 sq. ft. over three different levels and seats 250, the space remains warm and inviting. The lower level has been transformed into an underground “rustic cellar” with arched brick walls, vaulted ceilings and vintage viewing wine racks. The focal point of the lower level is the alabaster pizza bar. The mezzanine level, with stone + glass walls, rustic wood finishes and butcher block table tops make Ciao ideal for a casual relaxed meal yet elegant enough for a special night out. Street level seating opens onto Yorkville Avenue where diners can linger over a glass of wine late into the evening.

Main risotto was very undercooked, seafood linguine was not good. Basically every dish was sub par and not worth the money. Been here before few years ago and it was decent. I dont know what happened to the restaurant. Will not go back.

My friend and I went to Ciao for a girl's night out. Our original table was on the upper level restaurant area. We were so close to the kitchen that we were worried we would be knocked over by passing staff. We couldn't move the table as other tables were too close by plus it was very noisy. We finally realized that there was the lower lounge with high bar tables and asked to be moved. This area had the right ambiance for a girls night out. We ordered the calamari which was quite good however the pinot grigio that I ordered left a lot to be desired and I switched to the riesling which was better. The service that night was lacking. It was slow and the staff seemed a bit inexperienced. Not what I would expect in Yorkville wine bar.

I was very pleased with the Grilled Calamari Appetizer, at Ciao. The portion was quite large, delicious and well presented. I also had a salad, which was relatively plain and could have been more flavourful, hence the reason for a "3 star" rating, for the food. If I had been rating the Calamari, alone, I would have given it a "4 star" rating.

Caio has fantastic food - great salads and entrees for lunch. We like to go once a week but the service is too slow for those of us who actually work for a living. The wait is ruining our experience and becomes stressful. Last week I waited 50 minutes for a salad even though i asked the waitress when we arrived if we could be in and out in an hour. When they have a large party - other patrons get bumped and even a salad takes forever. I ended up wolfing down my salad in 10 minutes. Its unfortunate but i won't be coming back for lunch- I will miss the food.

Although the appetizer we had were not memorable the entrees more than made up for them. The fried squid rings were tough the lobster ravioli was just okay and the prices for each of them were close to the entree prices. However the lobster cannelloni and the shrimp tagliatelle were great. Plus Ciao is located in a great area perfect for an outdoor summer meal. I would definitely recommend it.

The food was alright, nothing wow at all. The main dish was very simple, dessert was not good, and it took them an awful amount of time to prepare our table and get our orders, even though we had a reservation. The place has a nice decor, so if you are looking for the look, the inside is good.

I booked a reservation for my family of 12 to have Summerlicious lunch at Ciao for my brother's birthday. We didn't know what to expect because we don't dine in Toronto often (we're from Mississauga) but took a chance because the menu and the place looked good overall from photos online. So glad we chose Ciao because the servers were so friendly and down-to-earth, so understanding when half of our party was running quite late. She even offered to serve us bread while we were waiting. The food was absolutely amazing! Good portions, great flavours. Even if it was Summerlicious, it didn't feel like they cheaped out of anything. It was such a nice, comfortable, and relaxing dining experience for my family!

I joined a party of 5 ladies to celebrate our friend's bachelorette party. We had reservations for 9pm on a Saturday night and the place was hopping!! We were seated downstairs which was bit dark but it wasn't that big of a deal. The restaurant had a Summerlicious menu and we each ordered something from it. I had a caprese salad which was OK (the tomatoes tasted a bit off but the mozzo cheese was delicious) complete with ricotta and spinach-filled ravioli. I topped off my meal with a panacotta dessert which was tasty. Although the food was really good and the ambiance was fantastic, I gave my experience 3 stars because the service was really slow. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable but it took forever to get our meals.

I went to this restaurant during Summerlicious (SL) and was expecting a good dining experience (at the minimum) since I attended another restaurant during SL two weeks earlier and had a great time. Our was okay but it was difficult to contact him when needed. The app was okay but bland. The main & dessert was a step up but it wasn't that great. I was also surprised that our server didn't come around with a pepper mill or asked if we wanted additional seasonings without prompt (there were none on the table). Overall, this dining experience was forgettable and wouldn't pay for these dishes at the normal price. SL is supposed to be a preview on what a restaurant has to offer outside of this time & if this what's offered, I won't be returning.

Poor all round - too bad - the location is great and design of the floors are nice - just lousy food that was obviously prepared too long in advance. We were rushed through dinner in a half empty restaurant - can only wonder why. Our server was more interested in getting us out than serving our meal. Wine is way over priced - I do not mind paying more for something exceptional but the place did not deliver to expectations. I will not go back and will tell others the same.

My friend asked for some water and they brought him a bottle of water which costed a hefty $7.00 and didn't even ask if we wanted bottled. great for summerlicious for $15. Tiramisiu dessert had a funny taste, the panacotta was good. chicken club sandwich was over salty. Salmon was good but could have eased up on the butter/oil as my vegetables seemed quite buttery.

It was a Friday night and my colleagues and I, along with our partners, went out to celebrate a birthday. I was excited to introduce them to Ciao as I had be there numerous times and always had a pleasant experience. Thankfully, summerlicious was going on so this was a perfect opportunity to be out and about. I went ahead of time to reserve a patio table and thankfully, it only took a half hour. In the meantime, I enjoyed a delicious concoction made of Moscato, Gin and peach schnapps. As the night went on, my whole group dropped in and ordered from the summerlicious menu and we all loved it! They also commented on the atmosphere and the amazing service which will bring us back on another occasion. Great job Ciao!!!

We had planned to dine at the Ciao Wine Bar to sample the Summerlicious menu. Once our order was placed the hot entrées arrived within 5 minutes, faster than the waitress could even bring us our wine. We had the feeling that they wanted to turn our table over quickly. If you can turn that table over quickly, means new customers, meaning more revenue. As soon as our entrees were done, hot plates arrived and so on. The sausage, rapini and pasta entrees was good but a little greasy. The sauce for the ravioli reminded me of Chef Boyardi and the sauce on my veal was bland. Pane Cotta was good but overall the food was disappointing. I probably will not go back since there are so many other restaurants in Toronto to sample.

Haven't been to Ciao in a few years, but my experience this time was not at par with what I remembered. We ordered off the summerlicious menu which was very disappointing. The fish lacked any flavour and the vegetables we so mushy they tasted as if they had been microwaved. We ordered a bottle of wine and some cocktails to start. The wine was good, but when we asked for a recommendation the waiter was not very knowledgable and couldn't really make a decent recomendation but just pointed at the most popular one. I can understand how these priced fixed menu could be annoying for service staff. But we didn't have our waiter come up to us once to see how we were enjoying everything, and only ate half our meals.

A friend and I went to Ciao for dinner and we decided to try their Summerlicious menu. The food (Ravioli and Caprese salad) was good but the service wasn't so great. It was extremely hot in the restaurant. They didn't have the AC on. Only the the doors & all the windows open to let "air" in. It was hot & humid outside so I didn't understand the point of that. One of the servers knocked over a drink that was on the table and it got all over the food and table, plus there was glass everywhere. They did apologize but when it came time for the bill we weren't even given a free drink or a discount off of the bill for the inconvenience. If you care about your customers and want them to come back, I believe this is something that should be done.

I should have listened to the many negative reviews - they were spot on. The server seemed so disinterested in serving us. He brought us bread (the only yummy part of the food besides the wine) but no dish for the olive oil and balsamic. Nor did he bring us cutlery and napkins. We had to ask another server who was placing them on tables near by. Service: bad. Food: just as bad. It was not horrible - I was able to eat it, but I swear, it was just like cafeteria food. I would not have been able to tell the difference. Never coming back and not recommending it. Disappointed as it was our first date night since having a baby. But we still had fun.

The food here was alright at best, nothing special. The salad was ordinary. The Italian club was very good. The tiramisu was adequate and nothing special. However, the service was horrible. Waitress gave dirty looks the entire time (as if we did not belong) and never checked in on us (constantly needed water), made dining very uncomfortable. Also, the wrong dessert was brought - ordered Panna Cotta but received tiramisu instead. Very poor service. Décor and interior were nice, however.
