A word from Ciao Wine Bar
Ciao Wine Bar offers a truly authentic Italian experience in a contemporary yet soulful environment in the heart of Toronto’s Yorkville District. This new Italian eatery and wine bar, created by the Liberty Entertainment Group, offers traditional Italian fare in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

While Ciao encompasses over 8,000 sq. ft. over three different levels and seats 250, the space remains warm and inviting. The lower level has been transformed into an underground “rustic cellar” with arched brick walls, vaulted ceilings and vintage viewing wine racks. The focal point of the lower level is the alabaster pizza bar. The mezzanine level, with stone + glass walls, rustic wood finishes and butcher block table tops make Ciao ideal for a casual relaxed meal yet elegant enough for a special night out. Street level seating opens onto Yorkville Avenue where diners can linger over a glass of wine late into the evening.

The food and wine were great. Prices are very reasonable. Location is excellent and public indoor parking adjacent to the place. However, we waited 25 minutes for the appetizer. Our server, a very nice lady, was absent most of the time and we had to search for her and make an effort to draw her attention to our table. The noise level is higher than acceptable. Not my first visit, and definitely not my last. Overall: love it and will go there again, hopefully we would be lucky to be served by someone who enjoys his job next time.

We really enjoyed our evening - although the noise level was very high. We were a party of four and it was difficult to hear conversation on the other side of the table. The food was a bit salty and the pasta was overcooked. We would like to see a larger selection of wines at a more moderate price. Our waiter was outstanding. He gave us the correct amount of attention at the appropriate moments and made recommendations both for our meal and our wine. We cannot recommend him highly enough. We are sorry we do not have his name and hope you will know that from our table allocation.

we attended for their Sunday brunch after spending a weekend in Yorkville for our anniversary. The initial greeting was fair, however our wait staff were amazing, attentive, and polite. Food was amazing. Prosecco was a bonus. We would definitely attend again.

There was confusion regarding what I've ordered - I think I could have been more clear on my end as well but the staff quickly ensured that I would receive what I thought I ordered. They did so with great attitude, lots of smiles and regular updates as to when my food will come.

The food was just OK. The Caesar salad was bland as was the lobster cannelloni, which contained very little shredded lobster (no chunks). The rigatoni bolognese was too al dente for the diner's taste and bland.

I was impressed with the atmosphere and interior design of the restaurant. The service was poor and lack of real customer service started with the hostess and the tattoo server. The food was too salted and poor presentation. And the server was more concerned about how much tips he will receive. It was very disappointed and more because it was my anniversary and I wanted to impress my husband.

The service was really great over-all. Attentive and friendly staff. Our waiter, John, was really nice. My date and I shared the Funghi which was outstanding. The couple next to us arrived just as our appetizer arrived and the aroma floating over made them order it as well. We have been searching the internet for the recipe. As the main meal my date order the Pollo Mattone which was generous and prepared very well - tender, juicy and tasty. The only disappointment was my Lasagna. It was heavy and a bit bland. The wine selection is plentiful. We had a 2xhalf bottle of Valpolicella Classico DOC Ripasso ‘Bosan’ Cesari Veneto Italy 2010. Shoulda ordered a full bottle. We will certainly go back but won't have the Lasagna.

Atmosphere and food were above average. Service was brutal! From the second we sat down in our broken chairs it couldn't have been worse. No server came around at all. Waived a manager down to note the chair and ask for someone to take a drink order. Manager was rebuffed right in front of us by another server which was particularly rude and amateurish. Even after the manager decided to serve us herself it was a little ridiculous how little enthusiasm she showed in doing so. And she demonstrated as much by not ensuring someone would take care of us from there on! At $150+ for 2 people and almost 3hours to complete the dinner i defiantly would not go back or recommend. I am a guest not a number served (or not served)

Great place to go after work, especially on Thursdays, to unwind and catch up with the girl friends or co-workers or even an impromptu date night with the hubby. Good energy from the servers and fellow diners, the cheese and meat plates never disappoint and the wine selection is perfection. What more could you ask for?

I wanted to give this restaurant a 5* review but due to the poor customer service I was unable to. Thank god the food was so delicious that I will be definatly going back! The polenta fries are amazing. The veal Milanese at $35 is HUGE and worth every penny. Get the baci bomb as a dessert. The drink are way way way too overpriced for what the served but still delicious. The only thing was the bad service. When I came here 2 years ago the device was amazing. This time it was lacking. Our waiter (Blake) was a bit on the rude side. We had to ask 3 people for forks/knives/napkins. So that was a bit annoying. The amazing food that is recognized by the Italian government as being authentic was SUPERB!! From beginning to end. Will be going back!!

I wasn't impressed with the food. Took over 30 min to get seated at a table with a reservation. They wouldn't let us sit downstairs. Extremely noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation. Wine list not that great for an Italian restaurant. Luckily my company was great so the night was not completely ruined.

My friend and I went to Ciao for a girl's night out. Our original table was on the upper level restaurant area. We were so close to the kitchen that we were worried we would be knocked over by passing staff. We couldn't move the table as other tables were too close by plus it was very noisy. We finally realized that there was the lower lounge with high bar tables and asked to be moved. This area had the right ambiance for a girls night out. We ordered the calamari which was quite good however the pinot grigio that I ordered left a lot to be desired and I switched to the riesling which was better. The service that night was lacking. It was slow and the staff seemed a bit inexperienced. Not what I would expect in Yorkville wine bar.

I was very pleased with the Grilled Calamari Appetizer, at Ciao. The portion was quite large, delicious and well presented. I also had a salad, which was relatively plain and could have been more flavourful, hence the reason for a "3 star" rating, for the food. If I had been rating the Calamari, alone, I would have given it a "4 star" rating.

Caio has fantastic food - great salads and entrees for lunch. We like to go once a week but the service is too slow for those of us who actually work for a living. The wait is ruining our experience and becomes stressful. Last week I waited 50 minutes for a salad even though i asked the waitress when we arrived if we could be in and out in an hour. When they have a large party - other patrons get bumped and even a salad takes forever. I ended up wolfing down my salad in 10 minutes. Its unfortunate but i won't be coming back for lunch- I will miss the food.

Although the appetizer we had were not memorable the entrees more than made up for them. The fried squid rings were tough the lobster ravioli was just okay and the prices for each of them were close to the entree prices. However the lobster cannelloni and the shrimp tagliatelle were great. Plus Ciao is located in a great area perfect for an outdoor summer meal. I would definitely recommend it.

I booked a reservation for my family of 12 to have Summerlicious lunch at Ciao for my brother's birthday. We didn't know what to expect because we don't dine in Toronto often (we're from Mississauga) but took a chance because the menu and the place looked good overall from photos online. So glad we chose Ciao because the servers were so friendly and down-to-earth, so understanding when half of our party was running quite late. She even offered to serve us bread while we were waiting. The food was absolutely amazing! Good portions, great flavours. Even if it was Summerlicious, it didn't feel like they cheaped out of anything. It was such a nice, comfortable, and relaxing dining experience for my family!
