Diner Reviews
  • "First time dining at Ciao - service was wonderful. Accommodated a wide range of tastes - including vegetarian needs and kids. Enjoyed every bit of the dinner from the entrees to dessert. Will definitely go ahead - highly recommend!"

  • "The food was above average in quality, but not worth the fantastic food price in my opinion. The wine list seemed nice, but since I was unable to drink that day, I didn't give it a thorough examination. two appetizers, two entree's, two deserts, with two iced teas, the bill came to $85. So, if that is a reasonable amount to you for good food, I would recommend Ciao By Villagio. If that is a bit steep for your taste, there are plenty of other places that will satisfy your inner foodie for a little less."

  • "We had dinner at Ciao last week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was excellent, and the service was terrific. We were able to sit topside on the roof, which just added to the unique and wonderful experience."

  • "Had great service from Tim on an evening when there was a concert in Lincoln Park. The live music was a nice accompaniment to the great food."

  • "Our server was very nice but did a poor job. Did not seem prepared or knowledgeable. Did not the soup of the day. Forgot to bring butter, wine took too long, constantly having to be reminded. And it was not very busy which made it more puzzling. Wine list could before robust. On the other hand food was very good from a taste perspective."

  • "The food, drinks, and service at Ciao were all top rate. Their lasagna was delicious with a wonderful Bechemal creaminess. A large party of 8 sat near us during our meal and I noticed that 4 of the group also ordered the lasagna...great choice. The calamari starter, house & caesar salads were also very good....and, my wife enjoyed her manicotti entree. Our server was very pleasant and efficient. We have been to Ciao several times and have always had a very nice experience. Will definitely return!"

  • "Always enjoy Ciao in Zionsville. Friendly owners & wait staff. Excellent food & service. Nice drinks. When in the area, do stop at Ciao for a fine evening; you'll be pleased you did dine here."

  • "Some of the best food, not just Italian food, that I have ever eaten!"

  • "Our food was very good, service a little bothersome but efficient."

  • "Excellent dinner before going to the "circus" at the ISO Pops concert. Service was extremely good - attentive without being intrusive, and all our menu questions were answered. Mushroom soup especially well prepared. We plan to do the "roof top" dining next visit."

  • "Still as good Italian food as anyplace in Indy. Only complaint was our server spent 15+ minutes talking to another table filled with his friends. One of the other servers noticed (Tim) and came over and checked on us. "

  • "We love dining at Ciao. The food and service are consistently excellent. We love dining outdoors in the summer. Although they don't have a separate kids' menu, my kids LOVE eating here. You can order half portions of most entrees, and that works well for us. Plus the servers and staff are great with kids. When we don't have our kids with us, we love eating in the bar area. I can't recommend Ciao highly enough."

  • "The waiter, Tim, gave us great recommendations and had a pleasant attitude. The rooftop table was very enjoyable, as was the food."

  • "Ciao was a real disappointment. We had been to this restaurant before its "makeover." It was much better before than after. The food was not very good. My wife and I agreed that Ciao was trying to be too complicated in its menu. We suggest that Ciao go back to the basics of Italian food. Service was ok, but slow. The restaurant was almost empty, but a table across the room had a loud and constant talker, which was not the restaurant's fault, but the noice level was much higher than was comfortable."

  • "The food was outstanding! We were greeted warmly and seated soon for our dinners! Waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend the Chicken Cacciatore! We noticed people sitting outside in front of the restaurant which reminded me of a sweet time in Brooklyn, NY where outdoor seating is prevalent."

  • "Our waiter was pushy - we were a group of six wanting a leisurely & informed him. They was no one waiting for our table & no reason to rush us Good was great as usual - but service was annoying. "

  • "Best Italian food ever but worst service ever. Started dinner at 6:30 and waiter didn't take dinner order until 8:30. No bread for first 1.5 hours. We had to ask 4 or 5 times. Dinner took 3.5 hours. Food was excellent!!!"

  • "My wife and I chose this restaraunt for our anniversary dinner. It was excellent. The server was very helpful and patient (as we hadn't been here before), and the food was excellent. A little pricey, but well worth it! "

  • "The food was very good and we got large portions of each entree."

  • "My husband and I went on a date here, we like to dine out at local restaurants and we were very impressed with this one. The service was fabulous. The lemon drop martini was the best I've had. Generous portions. Food was wonderful. Will definitely go back."

  • "As shown above, we loved this restaurant as we always have. This time, however, it was so loud there that we almost had to shout to communicate with our friends."

  • "A family-owned restaurant with great food and a nice atmosphere. Love their red sauce!"

  • "Excellent as always! Service was impeccable. Appetizers were wonderful, carpaccio especially. My 2 guests said it was one of the best dinners they have had. This is a great restaurant, people are missing a gem!"

  • "We were greeted by a friendly, professional hostess. There was a fire lit since it was a chilly night. The Torta di Formaggi as an appetizer was so creamy and tasty - it would have made a good small meal! The french onion soup was creamy and full of flavor. All of our entries were great - veal, manicotti and one of the shrimp dishes. Our waitress was attentive but not overly so. WE did splurge for a chocolate crepe to share and it was well worth saving a little bit of room for it! All around a great, relaxing dinner."

  • "My husband, mother and I tried Ciao for the first time last Friday. I can't tell you enough what an amazing experience it was! We did the four course Chef chooses option where Chef choose out everything for each course. The food was fresh and delicious. Tim was an amazing server. He truly made the experience entertaining and enjoyable. We let him choose the wine and he was spot one with both bottles. They have an extensive authentic Italian menu and nightly specials but if you really want to experience the best of the best, try the four or six course Chef's choice menu. I highly recommend you dine at Ciao By Villagio! It's a unique experience that you will very much enjoy."

  • "Menu offers a terrific variety & the specials for the evening were equally outstanding. Service was great, and the atmosphere was good. Wine list offered a good selection of all varieties and price points. We enjoyed our experience a great deal and highly recommend this place. Most menu items are in the $20 plus range."

  • "I've been to several Italian restaurants in Indy, and Ciao is definitely the best. Food is always fantastic and the service is equally as great. I had their Osso Buco Saturday night, and it was amazing. My wife ordered the risotto special with beef, asparagus and Gorgonzola, and we both agreed it was the best risotto we had ever had. We have dined at Ciao 5 times, and have never been disappointed."

  • "Ceasar Salads came out with no dressing on them and very dry. We asked for a side of dressing and it had too much horse radish in it, not very good. Our main course was very good and the bread with dip and wine were very good as well."

  • "The food was fantastic. The carpaccio rocked, as did the steak and sea bass. The server was a bit snooty, but very attentive. It's still hard to justify the cost, however."

  • "Our first visit here was valentine's day a couple years ago. Our meal that night was amazing. The place was really busy but wait staff was attentive, sociable, and never seem rushed. The restaurant was pretty charming. Overall, we had a great experience and we still talk about it now and then! This year, we thought we'd go back and it fell quite short of our previous experience. The food was was decent but not "amazing", meaning we ate everything but would not order those dishes ever again. The server was friendly but mostly just an anonymous food shuttle. When our meal was done, we were ready to be out of there. We were looking for a sold $100 experience but the only thing that came close last night was the bill."

  • "We were a bit disappointed by our experience at Ciao. For a fine dining restaurant, our waitress seemed a bit unprofessional. She came to our table to greet us with a dirty glass in her hand. When she came back to check in on us, she asked "Have you had a chance to look at the menu?" We responded, "Yes." She said, "Ok, what do you want?" Just really set an uncomfortable tone. The salt in the shaker was rock solid. When we told the waitress she asked, "You want another one?" Ummm yes. Meal prices are OK, but when I asked the waitress to tell me more about the Tortelloni, she informed me that it was frozen. For $17.95 and a restaurant that touts themselves as Fine Dining, I would have expected it to be made in house."

  • "My husband and I really enjoyed our Valentine's Day dinner at Ciao by Villagio. It looks like they just remodeled, and the décor is very nice. The sign on the window was for Ciao (by Villagio was in small priint and hard to see as we drove past looking for the restaurant). When we arrived, we double-checked that we were at the right place. They were very accommodating to us and to the other diners who were arriving late due to the snowstorm that occurred during the late afternoon/early evening hours. It was our first visit to the Ciao, and we will go back."

  • "Better than chain Italian with interesting menu options and good flavors. One of the better Italian restaurants in Indy."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "A little pricey for the quality, décor and options but this is a local restaurant serving old school Italian. Went for Valentine's dinner. Since it is a 4 minute drive from home, easy parking and friendly service it is as obvious choice to return. Really enjoyed the Spirito salad and veal Quattro formagio. All of these are good elements but we ordered 2 salads, two entrees, 2 beers, 1 dessert, an espresso and a decaf latte which cost us $94! That is a little steep but for a special occasion it is fine. I could have gone to Noodles and Company where I have had very good pasta and then next door to Starbucks for coffee and dessert and spent half as much including gas to drive further. But it was Valentine's."

  • "As an Italian American I am always on the hunt for great authentic Italian food. Well, I've finally found it-Italian food as good as my grandmothers ( sorry grandma). The great food was only outdone by the fantastic service. Wha a great find Villagios was. See you soon!"
