Diner Reviews
  • "after 16 years in business they are still kicking it out of the ballpark with fresh pasta and seafood dishes, outstanding wine list and great mixologist on staff to fix whatever you wishe."

  • "Always consistent, Ciao Bella is always lively, always great food, and always exceptional service. Tucked away a few blocks from Southdale the patio is a favorite of mine on a beautiful summer night."

  • "I'm a burger kind of a guy, and the best burger I've found in the Twin Cities is at Ciao Bella. It's a marvelous combination of perfectly cooked ground beef, the right amount of salt (a lot), and a to-die-for bun. It's juicy without being sloppy, which is a hard thing to pull off. Ciao Bella is known for seafood and pasta, and they are very good at it, but since the first time I ordered a burger there on a lark, I've been drawn back to it on almost every visit. It's that good."

  • "By far one of my favorite spots in the Bloomington/ Edina area for lunch. Always great service, great food and they always have you in and out for a lunch meeting! It can get a little loud inside, but everything else makes up for the slightly loud dining area."

  • "I do business over lunch at Ciao almost weekly. Very sophisticated and professional. Last night my wife and I had dinner on the patio. Very romantic."

  • "Great food, nice outdoor bar area as well as indoor. Entrees are a little pricey but good occasion dining."

  • "We are going there many times and like it very much."

  • "Ciao Bella is our 'go-to' restaurant every time we are going to or from the airport! (Good excuse!) The starters are wonderful and the flatbread pizzas can make a nice, light meal in themselves. The entrées are where Ciao Bella shines! Try the sea bass over wasabi mashed potatoes with caramelized onions, or one of the delightful pasta dishes!"

  • "I took an amazing woman here for dinner on her birthday. The staff was great, the patio was perfect, the food was fantastic and the whole night went well. I couldn't have picked a better place to have dinner."

  • "Food was delicious and the service was top notch. Halibut special was incredibly tender. Tends to get noisy during peak times so go early for a quieter meal."

  • "At first I didn't think reservations would be needed for a Thursday evening but glad I re thought that idea. The place was packed both inside and out. But luckily I had used open table to secure me a reservation. I was the first to arrive and was promptly seated....service was good ....above the usual we have all come to expect from the servers in the Minneapolis area but still not to the caliber of the restaurant. Food was excellent....I had the spicy crab spaghetti and my date had the lobster with risotto....both delicious. Really my only complaint is the music. Not only is it not the right choice for such a beautiful restaurant...it is so loud you can barely talk over it. It was very annoying."

  • "I love Ciao Bella. Great food, great service and you feel special when you're there. It is very loud though--sometime it's hard to have a intimate conversation because you need to speak loudly. Sea bass is one of the best meals I've ever had."

  • "Excellent food. This place never disappoints. The food is fit for foodies. The place is quiet, perfect for conversation, that is getting harder and harder to find. Perfect for a quiet or romantic evening. Also a great place to do business. The steaks are wonderful and the fish is perfectly cooked. The service is usually excellent but was rather slow on this visit. Lets hope this is not a new norm."

  • "My date and I enjoyed caio bella! Great atmosphere, a tad energetic noise level Great food, wine prices a bit high."

  • "We ate out on the patio and it was a great atmosphere. A friend had recommended this restaurant and raved about the bread. We ordered an appetizer and I kept wondering when they were going to bring us the bread, thinking, well maybe when they bring our meals. Well we had to ask for it when we got our food... and then still had to wait 10-15 min before they brought it. Our server, and the person who finally brought the bread said something about here is more bread for you... when it was only the first basket!!!"

  • "I would have preferred to sit outside. I think they should ask/establish this in the reservation process."

  • "I heart Ciao Bella! Always impressed by their food and service - not to mention their location is absolutely perfect - secluded yet convenient."

  • "Took my teenage granddaughter and friends to the restaurant of their choice which was yours. We are out of towners and did not know what to expect. Jeffrey our waiter made the evening great for us."

  • "celebrated a birthday with a friend...so very enjoyable. Best patio in the twin cities...great food...great waitstaff...the parking lot hidden with greenery is so smart...most restaurants do not even bother...."

  • "We checked out the reviews and were very pleased that reviews matched up with what we experienced. The Grains salad was fabulous - and the dessert special was absolutely incredible. So glad our wait person said it would be big enough to share...which we did and were well satisfied. Blackberry crisp and gelato...wow! Only thing to know when eating outdoors...there are three tables designated as "smoking" and unfortunately we were unknowingly at one of them. No problem until the two gents at the table next to us lit up their fat cigars! Luckily there was a nice breeze. All three of us would recommend this...and plan to head back there in near future."

  • "The patio is quiet and not too crowded. It is a wonderful place to have lunch on a summer day. The food is excellent and the service quite good. I have eaten here several times and have always been pleased with the experience."

  • "We love this restaurant. Our friend recommended the sea bass and it was wonderful."

  • "I was expecting a quieter environment with more privacy. It was loud and a bit chaotic in the dining room. Party of two was seated at a large booth and we felt like we had to practically yell to hear each other. Our service seemed disjointed at first - it was unclear who was our server vs. who was bussing the table and bringing water. Apart from all that, the food was quite wonderful. The linguine with scallops & goat cheese is PHENOMENAL. Brick roasted chicken is tasty, but it has some strange things going on with texture & size of the elements of the dish. The fingerlings were cut up into small rounds, which made it hard to differentiate from the olives & artichoke, and didn't do much to absorb the delicious sauce on the chicken."

  • "Good food, good service, price reasonable. Outside seating looked great but full with wait. Sat inside in moderate traffic. Hard ceiling reverberated noise like a train station. large tables required shouting at group. We could converse normally at table for two but background noise was horrendous."

  • "We had a wonderful lunch on the patio - finally no rain that day! Our waitress was attentive, anticipated our needs, and flexible. There's a wild salmon special available - terrific. I added it to a Brasilliana salad - beautfully seasoned salmon and tasty lemon vinaigrette with the light green salad with Hearts of Palm, Boston lettuce and avocado. As a Ciao Baby salad fan, I have a new favorite. I'll definitely be back for another business lunch."

  • "We sat out on the patio for our anniversary. We have never been disappointed in the food, drinks, or atmosphere here. Always have fish here, because it is always so good. The lemon dessert was light and very refreshingly wonderful! We love Ciao Bella!"

  • "Food was quite good, typical of this fine restaurant. It was a sunny day and we got an outdoor table, also adding to the positives. Waitress was very sub-par. When my mother asked for cole slaw instead of fries with her sandwich, the waitress rudely said they didn't have it -- failing to offer any options such as salad, fruit, etc. (with today's sensitivity to both carbs and fried foods, this has to be a common issue). She never checked in nor did she or anyone else refill my iced tea. When she finally came by I asked for a refill. She said "sure" and never brought it. The entire 1 1/2 hr. lunch was accompanied by a single glass of iced tea. I had recently had dinner at Ciao Bella, for the first time, & found the service was quite good."

  • "It's Minnesota, and walleye is in season. Although there's almost no such thing as a bad walleye sandwich, Ciao Bella's was superb. The fish was as good as it gets, the bread was a sensual treat, and the sauce was well matched."
