A word from Ciao! 2 An Italian Cafe
Ciao 2!'s is now the fourth generation of a traditional Italian trattoria! We are a special combination of style and substance, a restaurant known for its craft beers, boutique wines, and classic Italian cuisine!

Chef Sabrina, a native Pittsburger, carefully sources local produce and food stuffs whenever possible. Our chef has created brunch, lunch, and dinner menus as delicious tributes to the classic trattoria fashion!

This being Pittsburgh, it is only reasonable that Ciao2! pays loving attention the liquid side of things. Signature cocktails such as the Tuscan Sour and the Lemoncello martini, are served along side classics like the Ciao2! Manhattan and the Aviation.

Several beers are on tap and Nick has created a varied and unique wine list!

Ciao2! An Italian Cafe', a salute to classical regional Italian cuisine!

Diner Reviews
  • "It was our first time eating at Ciao, and we were quite surprised to find such quality to each part of our meal. The crab dip appetizer was amazing and so was the Crab Bisque Soup. The variety of the menu and the size of the portions are both large. However, the presentation and quality of each dish was superb! I was especially surprised to find that the dessert menu items were equally wonderful!! I never had a burnt almond torte dessert before, and was happy to enjoy every morsel! The Gelato was a big portion shared by two of our guests; the Turtle Cheesecake with caramel sauce was a definite birthday treat. I loved the Italian lasagna and also the sauce on their pasta...all in all, this was a true gem that you should NOT miss!!"

  • "Ciao!2 is a great italian restaurant for the Robinson area. Good food and good service. Nick, the owner, is very knowledgeable on wines, as well."

  • "We were seated in a fairly empty room. Most of the diners were seated together in one section while the remainder of the restaurant was empty. This made the experience feel cramped. Add to it the small tables and it became tedious finding room to move or serve each course. We were finished with our drinks and appetizer before the waiter took our dinner order. Luckily the chef was quick and the orders were few. The dinner came in due time and the food was good and hot. Nothing special about how it was presented. I would not consider this an overall good dinner. Based on the various 4 and 5 star reviews, we thought the experience would be much better. We will not be returning."

  • "Went with a group of 6. Got there just in time at 6:00 pm b/c the place filled up shortly after. The staff seemed harried and unprepared for a crowd. We all ordered a drink but only some of them made it from the bar; when asked about the remaining drinks our waitress had to convince the bartender that he left some drinks out. The food was good but not special and pricey for the portion size. Overall, an average experience"

  • "I have always enjoyed dining at Ciao2. I am a repeat customer and will continue. It is the perfect spot for great food and a place where you can actually have a dinner conversation without having to raise your voice. The specials are always changing and inventive and the regular menu offers a good selection. The wines are equally interesting. A nice touch are the people who work there and their preparation on knowing the specials is a very nice touch. And the wine suggestions from the owner/manager (Nick) are always excellent. From appetizers to dessert, a really good dining experience."

  • "We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary with a dinner at Ciao's. The food was terrific along with the description of the food from the manager. He was very informative. The Coffee with Tuaca (sp) and amaretto was the perfect ending to a wonderful nite."

  • "Excellent setting--beautifully designed and quiet room. Outstanding and knowledgeable service. Superb menu--the owner lived for years in Rome, so this is not an Italian wannabe. Freshest ingredients, lots of choices, reasonably priced. You will be delighted you found this gem. We found it for lunch on Sunday and will return often."

  • "Went for the first time in 5 years as we had moved out of Town. Now back and the new location, although in a large shopping area still has a warm feeling. The bar offerings seem to have increased and the food was still exceptional. Our favorite Itailian for sure in the area."

  • "The hostess sat us right away . Seats are very close Together. Noisey if they sit u near the kitchen The waitress was nice and prompt . The food came out quick. But I didn't think it had a lot of taste . The dessert menu was good . That was a thumb s up !The prices of the entree was a little higher then what I felt it was worth average place to eat ."

  • "We took our friends whose daughter lives in Rome Italy and owns a wine bar....She is world travelled and only chooses the best spots in Italy. Our friends commented that everything was comparable to the best in Italy and they would come back again, especially when their daughter returns to the States for a visit."

  • "So happy to have stumbled upon Ciao!2 With the Pittsburgh Italian market dominated by chains I am always on the lookout for family owned local places. The tomato basil sauce is the best I've had - local or on the road. Beef is expertly prepared. Kids go crazy for the pizza and fried cheese. Outstanding bartender (Nick) - pairing wines and makes a fabulous martini. Everybody is friendly and the dining area is small & intimate - you feel like you're at a friends house."

  • "My husband and I went out on Saturday February 1st to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We have been to this restaurant once beforewhen it first opened and loved it! It was really good tonight but my husbands steak was medium well to well. He oredered it medium rare. It's a big difference with a steak and a steak that you are paying $40 for. The sauce surrounding it was really tasty! But he was very disappointed with his steak."

  • "We could hardly talk without leaning in. We were seated at a card table and my guest almost knocked the table over when he went to sit down because of the legs. He was not able to put his legs under the table because there was not enough room. He had to straddle the legs which was not a comfortable way to dine. Not a great place for a quiet romantic dinner. Better for a large party! The salad dressing was delicious!"

  • "We drive from West Virginia purposely to eat at Ciao. Nick is a great bar tender, host and owner. The service has always been good as has the many Italian specialties. My favorites are the zucchini and greens and beans appetizers and the chicken picata and eggplant florentine. Almost never have room for dessert."

  • "The food and service was terrific! It was a little tight but it was NYE so it was busy and to be expected, it didn't affect our experience. Everyone was so friendly. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "The food was excellent. Not an empty plate was left. Almost everything in the restaurant is homemade and delicious. We enjoyed both the specials of the day as well as items from the menu. All four in our party will go back again. Service was prompt and friendly. The owner took a special interest in all of us. This is now our favorite restaurant!"

  • "We had an occasion for a business networking group at Ciao recently. The restaurant wasn't crowded but the service spanned from hoveringly indulgent to scarce with empty water glasses over the course of the two hours. The food, once we ordered and got it, was good to very good, but it came out in waves. It felt as though either the kitchen, the wait staff or both was not used to handling large groups who ordered from the menu rather than family style. I have eaten here many times before (mainly lunch) and have always been pleased, which was why I recommended it. It seems better suited for 2 -4 diners at a time."

  • "We love to pop in here before a movie. It's home made Italian cooking. Really! A mom and grandma are in the kitchen doing it all. Always so good - nothing like a chain. Absolutely try the wine they are recommending for the evening. They find great obscure Italian wines that are reasonably priced and taste better than their well-known counterparts. Whole package - never disappoints."

  • "Excellent authentic Italian, not like your average chain restaurant"

  • "Very disappointing. One of the featured specialties was very bland and the owner never stopped by the table (even though he walked past us several times), to express his apologies. The server and manager did and they did take the charge off. The entrees are pretty pricey so you expect more. Even when we left, the owner never said anything to us, until we said good night. Then all he could say was "goodnight". We just didn't feel valued and not that wow'ed by the food. Not sure we'll be back anytime soon."

  • "This is a great place. Food is good. Service is good. it is a small restaurant, like what you would find in Italy. This is a place I would recommend to anyone. It is the second time I was there and would go back again."

  • "It's unfortunate, as this was one of my favorite 'go to' family owned businesses, but I have to say that the food is not as good as it was when it first opened. very disappointing and will not be on my top list any longer. Still a great wine list tho."

  • "Caio 2 is our favorite restaurant. You can always count on the food being excellent and Nick is a masterful bartender. He will make anything you ask and the drink is always great."
    Dined on 11/1/2013
  • "Food was very good but I felt it was somewhat overpriced. Waiter gave very good service but tended to talk too much and hovered too much. We couldn't have a private conversation. Wine was good but not exceptional. The 4th star was only because the food was so good. Otherwise it would be 3 stars. Restaurant could use a good cleaning and some upgrading."

  • "We once again dined out as Ciao2 as a special night out for ourselves. We have never been disappointed in the service and the menu selections. We each enjoyed one of the specials of the night and sipped on a wine selection suggested by Nick. As usual we felt like we had spent a special night out with fine wine, exquisite seafood and excellent service."

  • "The food was OK. We eat Italian regularly and were not too impress with their meals. Order the veal and chicken piccata it wasn't bad but nothing to write home about. The veal stuffed banana peppers were awesome and if you order the greens and bean except to get a big dish of beans with no greens. Overall the price was not worth the food quality. Drive into the city for good Italian"

  • "Interesting entrance -- had a reservation for 4 - walked in with 2 and before I could even say that we had a reservation, an older gentleman said "come this way" - I couldn't figure out what the huge rush was - couldn't even tell him I had taken the time to make a reservation. We ordered drinks - I specifically asked our Server if you had a full bar - she indicated that you did. Marguarita was ordered for one lady - he returned and said that he couldn't make a regular Marguarita - could only make an Italian Marguarita (whatever that was) - never heard of such a thing with a full bar. Ordered the pizza appetizer - it was awful. Short of that, we were with wonderful couple so it was a good evening."

  • "We had two friends with us and it was there first time. We have enjoyed Ciao's food for some time. Only suggestion is they expand their wine list. We had a great Italian wine, Goose Bumps, but they should offer more Napa/Sonoma labels."
