Church & MainWine tasting! As we were not sure which one to choose, the waitress let us test 3 different wines and this allowed us to drink the matching one!
I ended up picking my wife's choice and she picked up mine...6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellant dining experienceI was here for the Jazz Festival. We split a 1/2 dozen oysters served with a cider vinegar dressing I did not use. They were good but strangely lacked that briny taste i enjoy. My scallop dish was excellent and my friend who ordered steak and fried said it was cooked just right.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently great. We've been many times. Always had great service - this time, with Carrie. Food was great, as usual, but portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food / Service was excellentThe food and service was excellent. The waiter was awesome He was knowledgeable in what was gluten free and was able to accommodate the special food requests that were made.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFive Star Burlington spotexcellent all around. Steak, scallops, salads, all A+. Swevice for 6 a tad slow, but meals more than up for it. Great downtown location.
Would highly recommend.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful eveningWe had a wonderful evening there during Restaurant Week--my husband took advantage of the 3-part special--clam chowder soup, zuchinni gnocchi and key lime pie--all three of which I tried and they were delicious. I had a yummy, tangy ceasar salad and the tagliatelle which was good but a little bland. The place was hopping--one of the first beautiful summer nights on a college graduation weekend--a little loud for our taste. The service was attentive and friendly.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNot a bad thing to say!Ordered two apps (clam chowder, calamari), two entrees (steak & frites, tagliatelli), two desserts (flan, key lime pie), two beers and martini and the bill was just over a $100. For the quality and freshness of the food, I would have paid twice as much. Each bite was delicious, and if I could, I would have snuck the left over garlic aeoli from the french fries home in my purse.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant weekThey really put something special together for restaurant week this year. I'm inspired to come back sometime to check-out the rest of their menu.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere, good foodVery nice decoration and ambience. The presentation on the food was great. Make sure to get a reservation, as it's a small place, and was full almost the entire time we were there.
The maitre d' and wait staff were very courteous, though it seemed like the waiters had too many tables to cover at times.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went here for restaurantWe went here for restaurant week and had an amazing time! The deals were awesome (3 courses- $35!!!) and the cocktails were a perfect mix if interesting and refreshing. For drinks, I really liked the Budding Romance. They were extremely accommodating to gluten free patrons as well!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! We had the Restaurant week menu, which included (for two people:
Salad
Cremont Goat Cheese (with an apple tart, apple jam and cranberry crackers)
Salmon (with a potato pancake and arugula)
Duck Breast (with brussel sprouts, squash and chard)
Strawberries, strawberry ice cream, shortbread and whipped cream
Chocolate Brownie (with homemade whipped cream and ice cream)
Everything was amazing and cooked perfectly. I can't remember the last time I had duck cooked that well. It's easily the best meal we've had in Burlington.
We also had some cocktails, which were creative and delicious.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMProbably one of the best placesProbably one of the best places I've eaten at in Burlington and Vermont, the food was amazing!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe bread pudding was cold. The bread pudding was cold. Other than that, a fine dining experience.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA good bistro, serving upscaleA good bistro, serving upscale bistro fare in a pleasant dining room, while having some inventive entrees and cocktails.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely worth a try!I was very happy with the meal and service that was provided. The great friendly staff were very knowledgeable about the menu. The "butter" that comes with the bread was amazing! Definitely coming back!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a marvelous experience. We had a marvelous experience. When the serve learned that our thirteen year old grand daughter was there for her birthday, she arranged a special dessert plate for the table. We were very pleased. The service was excellent with attention to detail without hovering. The food was superb and prepared as we requested. This was our first visit, but we plan to return and to tell our friends. It was a memorable and unrushed evening. Thank you4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Nicely Done! This was a pleasant surprise in that we were visiting from out-of-state and took a shot in the dark based on past reviews. The menu was small, which is great. Do a few things well, consistently, is a great way to run a restaurant. The service was pitch perfect, 100%, no complaints. The prices were quite reasonable. Everyone working there seemed to be well-trained and extremely professional. If we lived in the Burlington area, we would go back there for sure.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCocktail hourIf you're looking for a place to meet before a show at the Flynn like we didp his was an ideal pick
We shared several appetizers and especially found the calamari had the best blend of flavored
Paired with a delicious vintage from S Africa the wine was the perfect complement
Service prompt but not overbearing well done3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding thisFood was outstanding this time. We had the beef appetizer special, the cod special and the fillet. All excellent.
It's pretty noisy place, ruins the ambiance, and doesn't fit with the fine food they're serving. Owners should try to quiet the place down a little.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMreally good food - very creativereally good food - very creative -good wine - attentive service3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at Church & Main,First time at Church & Main, came highly recommended by several locals. Everything about this place is amazing. The only thing was when the back door (not the entrance) opened it's became cold and I had to keep my jacket on.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply Stunning FoodThere are a few restaurants in the Burlington area that are attempting to skillfully assemble pure & wholesome ingredients into menus that create sophisticated culinary experiences. A few do it well, but none in my experience have mastered it the way this chef has. My wife and I went for the first time and loved absolutely everything we ordered from the appetizers to dessert, every dish & element of what we ordered was even better than we thought it could be. It is a diservice to even try to put into words how much I appreciate the food at Church and Main. The menu and the ingredients all reflect a mindful intent- a sensitivity and respect for cuisine. Each dish is consistently composed akin to nothing short of culinary master work.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
