The food could not have been better. Every time my boyfriend and I took a bite of each new dish we couldn't help but say, "I could just eat this all night!" We wish we'd had enough room for dessert because we're sure it would have been just as good. If you're not a foodie, don't be intimidated by the menu descriptions. Everything is fantastic. You can't go wrong. The service was friendly but the only thing I would say is that maybe the server was too present at times. But that's better than not at all, right? The music was a little loud but the atmosphere was energetic. I would definitely recommend Church and Main to everyone. Call early for reservations! You can tell this is a Burlington favorite.

There is something to be said for a small menu prepared well. From Steak Frites to a delicious homemade pasta with shrimp to Mr. Church's Chicken, flavors were carefully balanced, cooking times optimized, and presentation paramount. While prices were a tad high for Burlington, the total package soothed the pain my wallet felt. Service was clearly off the chart, with warm, attentive ad thoroughly professional service table side. Church and Main is a keeper - we will be back!

Simple menu yet wonderfully prepared. I had the stuffed pork chop-fabulous. The tomato bisque was rich with flavor and the calamari was lightly breaded and tender. A lovely evening in October sitting outside.

This was our second time at Church and Main and we enjoyed it once again. We ate inside and had a reservation, luckily. Our son had the lobster pasta special, along with steak tartare. My husband had the pork belly special and I had the ravioli. Next time I will order the ceasar salad with a small plate. We would go back, but make sure you have a reservation in order to be seated.

Wonderful meal. Great, friendly service. Every course was memorable, well plated and very tasty. A little noisy but not uncomfortably so. Went to a competitor (L'Amante) the next night and it was everything that Church and Main wasn't. The food was bland and forgettable, mediocre service and marginal atmosphere. Given the choice stay clear of L'Amante and choose Church and Main.

Took our daughter and UVm friends (7 total ) Saturday night. Much better than most reviews led me to believe. Service was very good amd professional. Menu was interesting and varied. Most small plates and entrees were good to very good. Only complaint was my pasta special was all stuck together. Wine list was good too. Would definitely go back.

Had my older parents with us. Music way too loud. They turned it down, but it soon got turned back up again. The waitress was attentive, but definitely grumpy. She really didn't want to be there. As for the food, I had the pork. Flavor was good, but it was dry and hard to chew. Scallops were enjoyed. The chicken cordon blue was just barely cooked thru....not great for poultry! Prices were high for what you got and the menu should definitely offer more options. I won't be returning.

The service and overall feel of the place was very nice, with a good buzz and lively feel. The food was just fine but not quite up to what I had hoped. Oysters very good. I had the Steak Frites and mainly my impression was that if you are going to put that on the menu you should give people just that instead of a variation. Cut of steak was fine but not the right cut and the fries were also fine but not what you expect in steak frites. The dish was fine however. My companion had a daily special pork which was also good but ended up being a bit dry. It was a nice evening with excellent service, just needs a little more from the kitchen.

WE were there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at 5, and we sat inside, it was quiet...I imagine on a Saturday there is plenty of activity and noise. The food was very good the calamari is very good unfortunately it was drowned in a pepper Jam and although my husband liked the sweet stuff I had to wipe it off of mine. Next time I am going to ask to bring the jam on the side. He had steak which was excellent and I had roast pork which was very good as well. There was plenty of both. They introduced us to a new gin Botanicals I think very smooth, no Beefeaters or Tanqaray in the restaurant! The dessert was good really, really chocolate if you are a chocoholic you will love it, the best of the three chocolate presentations was the Panna Cota.

We chose to sit outside which is the reason for the lower ambiance score and higher noise score. There were a few things going on that were out of the restaurant's control but made our dining experience less than ideal. The pros and con of being on Church Street. Great location with fantastic gnocchi and Portsmouth scallops as our main dishes - quite phenomenal and a huge shock given our preview of the main dishes. This is because sadly the appetizers were exceedingly poor. The broccoli soup offered as the soup of the day was salty and tasted like roadside diner soup. It was uninspired. the goat cheese appetizer, polenta and goat cheese Timballo was dry. The polenta that enveloped the cheese was tasteless and dry and one would hope that the goat cheese at the center would do something to elevate the dry and tasteless polenta. Sadly it was the opposite because the cheese was also dry. The mains were excellent - tasty sauce for the gnocchi and a perfect cook on the scallops. Great service by Maci.

We've been to Church & Main a number of times but not sure we'll be back. The food is great but definitely overpriced...which we remembered thinking the last time after we got last night's bill. Not only is it overpriced in general, but when you ask for ketchup and they charge you $2? That just leaves a bad taste in your mouth no matter how good the food is. If you're looking for good food and want to sit outside and watch all the Church Street activity I would definitely recommend...just be sure your wallet is full before you go.

Pros: Nice spot on Church street; nice people and decor; nice place for a drink or cocktails with friends. Cons: Service was too slow, it took one hour hour to receive our appetizers. Our bottle of wine was not served cold. We were told it was a very popular wine! We were not able to start to enjoy it before our main course! The food was ordinary and even bad. Somes plates were too salty. My main course was gnoccis; it was a huge plate, the pasta itself was too big in size (a big chunk of 2 inches) and a with a greasy after taste; not polished at all. We were extremely dissapointed with this meal. This place used to be really good and fun 2 or 3 years ago, but not anymore. For sure it was our last visit. A bad experience with a $200 bill.

The site of this restaurant is excellent - outside - on the corner - lots going on. Service was very good. Unfortunately our food was expensive and mediocre for the most part. Calamari was good. Seafood small plate was very salty. Gnocchi was not seasoned well - it had some nice vegetables in it though. The pasta special was very good. We tried two desserts: the tart was unremarkable, and the ice cream sandwich got mixed reviews. The ice cream was very tasty; the peanut brittle was nice; the cake part of the sandwich was tough and tasted stale. No one was totally happy with the food.

This was a fantastic find. From finding the menu online to making a reservation, it was an enjoyably simple and easy experience. The food was great, so much so that I no longer dare to cook scallops or pork tenderloin, knowing I'll never be able to attain the perfect taste and texture that they had. Being able to sit outside, and enjoy the beautiful weather and the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival made the experience that much more exceptional.

Our visit to Church & Main was one of the nicest dining experience we've had in a long time. The food was imaginative and tasty; the service was friendly and efficient. We were very impressed with the whole staff; they were very knowledgeable when it came to picking out wine and recommending dishes. So glad we had a reservation because the place was packed this past Friday night. We sat at the bar for about 45 mins prior to being seated--our choice--we'd arrived early for this purpose. We had a drink, but the bartender never bothered to come back and ask if we wanted another one, and at the time the bar wasn't very full yet. He was more interested in the younger couple a few seats down. Our waiter was great, very polite and attentive. The food was amazing. Scallops for my wife and steak for me, and we shared both. Perfection on both counts. Dessert was key lime pie and coffee which was also very good. Our only complaints were the bartender and the fact that it was about 100 degrees in the restaurant. Other people were saying same.

All in all, better than expected. I felt they were really trying to do things right. The food really was outstanding, the ambiance a weak very good... the high ceilings reduce the noise a lot, but the abundant black curtains make it seem like they're taking the easy way out in the decor department, as if it was quickly put together theatre set. The service for the most part very good, but there's a difference in quality between and earnest college student and true professional wait staff. The wine list was okay... but the markup too high for the product.
