  • "Given the location, I expected so much better My sis in law and I had lunch ( a rare event, we try to make it special) and she picked Chucks because of its proximity to her office. Had I known how disappointing this restaurant would be, I would've suggested something two blocks in one direction or another. First off, we had to wait over 5 minutes til the hostess showed Our server was friendly-ish, but not fabulous I have a celiac condition and he treated it like a psychosomatic thing ("oh yeah, we've got a gf bun for that");'I'm used to clueless staff but this was borderline rude, All would've been forgiven if our burgers were exceptional They were not Not even close Maybe the next place at this location will get it right"

  • "Four us chose to dine here after attending a Sunday matinee performance at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance. It was not busy in the restaurant at this time. Service was very attentive and friendly. We each had different entrees and found all of them very good. Steak, lump crab cakes, pork chop and one a variety of appetizers, sausage, salad and soup. We also shared some desserts. Everything was well prepared and nicely presented. We agreed that we would return to this new restaurant in the Hard Rock Hotel."

  • "Apparently Chuck's used to be a different restaurant and in the last few months was revamped. I can honestly say I did not know what to expect when I went inside but this is a great restaurant. We started off with some "Strawberry Fields" cocktails which were incredible. And we each had the Iron Chef Burger for dinner and could not finish it. It was divine though, the beef was so tender. Fries were amazing and tater tots were spectacular. I would definitely come back here again."

  • "Chuck' s had great service and amazing food! We had a 5 course valentine's day meal that was perfect, and was brought out in perfect timing manor. The only complaint I have is that I asked to move back our reservation 30 minutes because my fiance had to work later and they refused to do it. So we had to rush to barely make it on time and the restuarant was almost empty besides a couple other families for our entire meal and they could have easily let us come 30 minutes later."

  • "What a fun and different place for downtown dining! This is not the usual loop eatery, but it was perfect for an adventurous business lunch. The menu is not huge and burgers are featured, but there is enough variety to choose from. The ambiance is relaxed but upscale. We were there a little early for trying the bar, but will go back for the cocktail hour soon. Service was great, and we never felt rushed. There are tv monitors for a sport bar meets hipster vibe. The portions are good and the cheese crabmeat appetizer is to die for. Don't miss the dessert platter. Google some pictures. I would go back for the mini hostess cupcakes by themselves."

  • "Left the snowy cold Friday night outside and felt warm and welcome as soon as we walked in the door. The menu was perfect for my 20-something year old son who hates "fancy" food. Charred edamame and beet salad first. Both excellent. He had their burger. Only regret is that I forgot to take a picture of it. Major, but he finished it. Tempura brussel sprouts can make a veggie lover out of anyone. Dessert menu was enticing, but too full to even consider. So I asked the waiter if they had any fruit. 5 mins later he came back with the best looking berry plate I'd seen all winter. With 2 sauces/dips. Really, really good experience."

  • "We were a party of six on a Friday afternoon. We sat at the chef's table. The service was very attentive and friendly (Thanks, Brian!). We split the waffle nachos-short rib, cheese, quac and pico de gallo on waffle fries. Melt in your mouth delicious. A couple of us had cheeseburgers. I had the steakhouse one, which I had been hesitant to get because it came with an A-1 aioli. I'm not an A-1 fan, so I got it on the side. Glad I did...it had a nice zing to it. Another friend got the cheddar crab fondue as a main. She said it was fine but not spectacular. Another lunch companion got the surf and turf tacos. She said she enjoyed them very much. Will definitely go back!"

  • "Overall pretty good. The burger was amazing and the two in our group who ordered the clam chowder thought it was terrific. The only disappointment were the Caesar Salads. Both looked terrible and tasted just as bad. I don't think Chuck's serves too many salads. The lettuce was old, tired, wilted, light green, and brown. Pretty bad first impression. Good thing the rest got better."

  • "I was very excited to try a new restaurant during Chicago's Restaurant Week and thought Chuck's would be a good place to try. In the middle of the day on Michigan avenue, my party of four were the only people in the establishment!! That should have been our clue to leave, but against my initial feeling we decided to stay. Their Restaurant Week special menu was anything but; soup or Cesar salad, flatbread or burger, and dessert platter that advertised "'hostess like' cupcake, cotton candy, and a cereal treat'" ... No thank you. After the disappointing selection, we decided to order off the regular menu; nothing special and nothing great. So many fantastic dining options in Chicago; don't wast your time stopping here!!!"

  • "No surprise, the Iron Chef burger was awesome!! My husband had the Chi Town dog, which was simply enormous--and he said, quite good. Tuscan fries were addictive, the Tots crispy as they should be. Lunchtime on a Wednesday was very quiet, but our bartender/server was very attentive. We'd go back again, though we weren't big fans of the ambience---but it was a weekday, imagine the bar comes to life later in the day."

  • "The last time we ate here, it was Chuck's Manufacturing - we loved the industrial feel of it. The transition to what it is now took us by surprise. We expected the industrial environment and were greeted with a warm and intimate environment that was wonderful. The staff were perfect. The mac & cheese was still outatanding . Our steaks were perfect (filet and bone in rib eye). And the 'junk food pantry' dessert was a delicious surprise! A must stop destination for us every time we visit Chicago!"

  • "I took my friend and co-worker to Chuck's for a Christmas lunch. We were seated promptly, and a few minutes later we placed our food order, the organic chicken entree for me and the steelhead trout entree for my guest, at the same time as the drink order. When our drinks were brought to the table, the server mixed up who got which drink. Not a big deal, but it foreshadowed things to come. When the food was ready, two organic chicken entrees were brought to the table. To the credit of the restaurant's manager, he stopped by our table and offered to make good when it came time for the bill. When we did get our food, it was VERY good. However, the server was awkward and never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert."

  • "Had some issues with the meat preparation as my wife and my temps were switched. She sent hers back for refiring and it came back still underdone. Management and server were gracious and removed item from bill, so we were satisfied. Would certainly keep an eye on that though, as they are not inexpensive entrees. We will try the place again, as they are still only 3 weeks in, and we have both opened restaurants and know that it takes a bit to fire on all cylinders. Overall good experience."

The food was delicious, everything seemed to have a little kick to it, which I appreciate. The staff was friendly and the restaurant has a great vibe.   • "Went there for lunch and will return. Good service, nice ambiance and unusual takes on some traditional dishes. The Sausage pail was fun, with beer-battered brats and spicy Portuguese sausage and 3 different mustards. The "Chicago-style" clam chowder was tasty, with chunks of spicy Italian sausage and the beef barley was delicious. Sandwiches and main dishes looked good and I look forward to trying more dishes next time."

  • "You may want to go to Chuck's just for the Iron Chef burger - it is huge (easily sharable with a friend) and utterly delicious. The Crispy Creamy Shrimp and the Tuscan Fries were also outstanding. The space is very modern and there are TVs not only above the bar but in the main dining area. The music is energetic. Not a destination restaurant, but you can grab a good meal on Michigan Ave."

  • "If you're in Chicago, natives and tourists alike, you should be checking out Kerry Simon's new restaurant, Chuck's! The service was some of the best restaurant service I've had. James gave great suggestions off the menu, clearly having great knowledge of the food, and took care of all of our needs. Plus, he was incredibly friendly and personable, and we just really enjoyed the overall experience he gave. The food was just incredible though, with a killer imaginative menu. The Iron Chef Burger, the Chicago Style Claw Chowder, and the Waffle Fry Nachos, were especially amazing. There are also steaks and chops taste better than the best steakhouses in Chicago, and at a far better price! We will be coming back again and again!"

  • "We were attracted to the place because of the cool looking bar facing Michigan Ave which turned out to be the only interesting thing about the place. Everything else was just average.... food, drinks and service. I'd go back to sit in the bar and have a few drinks after work but that's about it. Too many other great food choices near by to go back again for food."
