A word from Christy Hill
A memorable dining experience awaits you as you enter the Christy Hill Restaurant in the center of Tahoe City. The restaurant sits just 100 feet above the shoreline of Lake Tahoe on an elevated embankment offering diners a panoramic vista. The intimate setting offers guests a view that is only
upstaged by the cuisine. Spectacular sunsets that can be seen from every table is just one of the many reasons that Christy Hill was voted "Most Romantic Restaurant" by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Christy Hill had been recommended
to us by friends that had their wedding rehearsal dinner here a couple of years ago. We found the food, service, stemware and wine list to be outstanding ! I look forward to dining here again!"

We ate there on 2/22/14. The food
was creative, well seasoned and everyone's meal was excellent. Highly recommended."
Dined on 2/22/2014
We have been going to Christy Hill
for special family occasions for MANY years. Because our family has so many fond memories, we continue to do so, even though the quality of the food is well below the quality of the service, setting and ambiance. On our recent visit, to celebrate my wife's birthday, several of our main courses were very disappointing (the cassoulet was not properly cooked and was quite bland). After each of our most recent visits, we have had a family discussion about whether we should return. Unless there is a significant improvement in the quality of food, we will not."

We went for Valentine's Day and it
was perfect, right down to the chocolates and rose petals artistically scattered on the table. The food was to die for and the service was great! The view was spectacular. I highly recommend the pork chop or the Morrocan lamb dishes. The scallop appetizer was also exceptional!"
Dined on 2/14/2014
Way to busy, poor to fair food
quality, poor culinary presentation, mediocre menu offerings, fair wine list, long time between dishes"
Dined on 2/14/2014
This is our go-to date night spot.
Always have the best service! JD will recommend the best wines if you need assistance. The lamb loin is delicious and spot-on every time. Usually like the clams, but they seemed old this time. Bison short rib was very fatty. Not the norm for Christy Hill. Soup of the day was celery root/parsnip. It was divine! Week ll be back!"
Dined on 2/1/2014
This is such a charming
restaurant! The food is fantastic, we really enjoy their gnocchi, they have an unusual preparation. The caesar is great as well as the Morrocan spiced Lamb, the sea bass, the espresso cheesecake...In addition to amazing food, the view is a 10+ we tend to dine earlier than normal there to enjoy it."
Dined on 1/25/2014
We go to Christy Hill for every
special occasion. It never disappoints us!"

This lakeside gem is an experience
you can count on, literally, all four seasons of the year! As we entered the foyer, I noted a platter of cookies, which was so welcoming. The menu is well crafted, varied and speaks to the diners that appreciate local freshness. Every course was delicious and well paced. We never felt rushed so we enjoyed the intimate, cozy ambiance even more. To top off the evening, our server was JB, another local gem, who also takes credit for the timeless black & white photographs. I have loved these winter scenes for years, as I can practically walk into the snow along those wooden fences! Thank you, JB, for another lovely evening!"
Dined on 12/26/2013
Every time we eat here, we are
always so pleased with the quality of the food, service and ambiance. The food stays current and is always so fresh! The tortellini I had was fabulous. Not the obligatory cream or tomato sauce, but a homemade broth, homemade mushroom stuffed tortellini covered with fresh baby vegetables. Such a refreshing take on an old school dish. We will continue to come back here a lot. Best place in the area,"
Dined on 12/24/2013
This restaurant is very special.
Excellent food, great atmosphere and very personalized service! Could not be better!"
Dined on 11/12/2013
Had dinner on a Tuesday eve. It
was quiet, as it's off season in Tahoe. Our server was friendly and attentive. There were questions about several of the entrees and each was explained well which helped each of us make a great selection. I've only been to Christy Hill for happy hour before, which is awesome, but dinner was really outstanding. The bison short rib was so delicious we practically licked the plate. The cassoulet was also wonderful. Throughout the eve the service was attentive and friendly. Already looking forward to coming back for dinner again."
Dined on 10/30/2013
This is a real super restaurant -
"Foodie" food. There is one table where you sit "side by side" - we were there and liked it even better than the "view" seats. There are just a few tables in this restaurant and that table allows you to look at the beautiful lake and mountain views PLUS the folks sitting at the window seats!!!"
Dined on 10/28/2013
Arrived early, took a leisurely
stroll along the waterfront enjoying the lake as well as the foliage. Dining experience was wonderful, good food, excellent service. My favorite was the after dinner Affogato . More restaurants should offer this alternative to dessert!"
Dined on 10/24/2013
Food was excellent (particularly
the bananas foster - best ever!), the view was beautiful and staff was wonderful helping me out with the birthday surprise."
Dined on 5/19/2013
Decent meal, but not great.
Wonderful view of the lake from all tables, but that didn't make up for three overlooked pieces of fish"
Dined on 10/14/2013
Everything about our dinner was
outstanding including the food, service, and ambiance. They have a unique team approach to providing service wherein everyone will check on you during the course of your email. It is an excellent restaurant and I highly recommend it!"
Dined on 10/5/2013
Excellent food and, though a
little pricey, no where near as pricey as many restaurants on the lake. Moreover, the food is superb and very interesting, not the usual menu items."
Dined on 9/29/2013
Friendly professional staff, great
appetizers and entrees, balanced wine list and a fabulous view all make Christy Hill a favorite in the Tahoe City or northwest shore location."
Dined on 8/12/2013
Went to christy hill with my wife
for our second wedding anniversary. Had a very pleasant experience and loved the view sitting on the patio. Had the braised bison entree. Excellent. The horseradish potato purée was fantastic. Service was very good and helpful."
Dined on 9/11/2013
I often find an inverse
relationship between a restaurant's view and its food. Not so with Christy Hill. All patio tables and most indoor tables have a lovely view of the lake, and we loved our food. The Bibb Salad was both beautiful and delicious! Plenty for two light eaters to split. Two in our party had the small plates....the scallops were the hit of the evening. I ordered a seafood entree and loved it....the fish was perfectly cooked. Portion sizes were on the small side (except for the salad), but that is to my liking when eating exquisite, rich food. Coffee was served in a French press.....loved it! Service was attentive and friendly. My party of 3 all gave it two thumbs up!"

We have been exploring different
restaurants in the area since March. We almost didn't try Christy Hill because of how old it was. So glad we did as we had the the best dinner ever in Tahoe City. The duck rillettes app was so rich, smooth and fabulous, served on Truckee sourdough and accompanied by various homemade pickles. The halibut over cranberry beans was so fresh and cooked perfectly. My husband's beet soup was fresh and colorful. It was followed by a perfect cut of venison, again perfectly cooked. A peach crumble dessert had different spices that made it unique to the typical ones. In addition to great food, the view is unbelievable and paired with high end service, makes this place a wonderful place!"

Had a wonderful time at a table
outside celebrating our first anniversary!"
Dined on 8/25/2013
although we waited 45mns to be
seated, dinner was delicious...the lamb was excellent and so was the duck confit.. the pea soup was foamy and very tasty,..highly recommend the restaurant.a"

We visit South Lake Tahoe every
summer and Christy Hills tops the restaurants we enjoy for fine dining. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys fine food, a unique menu, and scenic views. Looking forward to next year already."
Dined on 8/14/2013
We were pleased to be seated by a
window. The waiter comped. us a special blackberry sorbet to share. The whole evening was outstanding."
Dined on 8/10/2013
Beautiful view, warm service, and
sophisticated menu. Would definitely return."
Dined on 8/6/2013
My entree was tasteless the waiter
said afterwards yes that's not very good They should not have mains on the menu unless they are worth the experience"
Dined on 8/9/2013
Superb food, service, and ambiance
with an unbelievable view and setting. It was an exceptional treat.."
Dined on 8/7/2013
Best restaurant in Tahoe. West
Shore Cafe is right there but different. Christy Hill is a lovely, quaint restaurant with awesome staff and amazing food. Can't get enough of it! Could use a liquor license (they are beer and wine) but that's a small thing."
Dined on 8/6/2013
We eat here last year and had a
great dinner. This year my wife order the gnocchi. The flavor combination was confused. I had the Bibb salad and it was excellent. I had the halibut which was over cooked and dry. My wife had the chicken. It was over salted. It tasted like it was brined but not rinsed or dried. Beautiful location and nice deck seating, but don't go for the food."
Dined on 8/3/2013
I took my boyfriend here for his
28th birthday. He had the halibut and I had the lamb and both were delicious! We shared the espresso cheesecake for dessert (good thing because it was rich!). The bar inside is pretty limited for drinks outside of wine, they do have a large wine list and recommended great ones for each of us. We sat outside and with the heaters it was a prefect spot to have a couples' dinner overlooking the lake :) All of the staff were very helpful and nice."
Dined on 7/29/2013
Kitchen was slow and restaurant
lacked ancillary help for the waitress who was slow and overworked"
Dined on 7/28/2013
We had our anniversary dinner on
July 25th and it was awesome. The food was outstanding, the service was top notch and incredibly friendly. We would not hesitate to go back and recommend it to friend."
Dined on 7/26/2013
I was leary after reading some
recent reviews, but we just finished a great dinner. Very appealling vichyssoise. Loved the bib salad, fresh, light, delicious. The new Moroccan lamb dish was terrific and paired really well with the old vine Malbec on their list. My husband was disappointed in the bison short ribs, but he HATES pot roast and they had that type of consistency. The wild berry shortcake was a good mixture. The cream segment was delightful, the shortbread was heavenly, the strawberry sauce was flavorful. I would have liked 50% more berries. The last bite was the basil leaf! I expected mint and was completely taken off guard, but the finish to the dish was really quite good. An appealing lingering clean taste."
Dined on 7/28/2013
We chose this restaurant to
celebrate our Anniversary. We were very pleased: of course, the view is superb! But to go along with it is good food & service. And we enjoyed the wine - Bandol, which happens to be our favorite. We will be back!"
Dined on 7/22/2013
Christy Hill provided a very
pleasant evening for a special celebration."
Dined on 7/19/2013
great setting; superb service;
menu a bit more ambitious than the kitchen can manage"
Dined on 7/18/2013
Although Christy Hill is located
in the middle of the Tahoe City strip just off of the main strip, it has a wonderful neighborhood feel to it. Very laid back and friendly - not bustling and rushed like many of Lake Tahoe's shoreline restaurants. The food was good, but not great. The duck and goat cheese appetizer, which sounds great on the menu, was a bust. It was reminiscent of tuna or canned chicken. In fact, when the busser came to clear what was left, she said, "Are you finished with the tuna?" Hmmmm... Everything else was good - not great, but good. But, the view and very relaxed low key dining made up for any shortcomings. We will definitely be back."
Dined on 7/13/2013
The view was worth the visit. The
food was good but not outstanding. Prices were fair. Service was friendly but quite slow - which I normally would not mind given I wanted to linger for the view but even the first drink took forever. They were completely out of vodka after a holidy weekend so could not make any mixed drinks the night we were there. I had the bison short rib. The meat was somewhat dry for a short rib but might have been the fact that it was bison. The horshradish potatoes were very good but could have had a bit more horshradish flavor. All in all a decent mean and the view made up for any shortfalls."
