  • "Brought the family for the first time and I found myself wanting to go back the next day! The shrimp was amazing!"

  • "I've lived in Houston all my life (let's just say that's over 50 years) and I've driven past Christie's on Westheimer for the last 45+ years. I had never eaten there before last weekend. The décor (recently renovated) is uncluttered but historic pictures of downtown Houston as well as other areas filled the walls. This is a great place for families. The food is good. Nothing fancy, just reliably good, standard gulf coast seafood dishes. Prices are very reasonable and you can actually have conversations it is so quiet. The service is outstanding and one of our party said they had never had a better dirty martini."

  • "Food was great not very big on portion but a bit pricey."

  • "If you are ever in the Galleria area or just outside the Loop do not miss this place! I have been going there for over 20 years and my inlaws who live in Houston since they can even remember! Flounder and Snapper from the Gulf are so fresh and delicious..the oysters and shrimp are a great staple too!"

  • "I enjoy lunch here every month or so. The freshness of the fish is awesome! My favorite is the red snapper blackened with the Opelousas sauce over it. There is more of an older crowd here, but I dont mind since it is close to work and delicious! Service is always great, as well! The gumbo needs a little more heat and flavor profile, but it isnt bad."

  • "They have great Greek salads & fantastic fried shrimp. The quality is consistently excellent over they years. So when we go - we are the youngest ones in the room. But they have been here longer than 95% of the places in Houston - that says a lot. Their other seafood & even steaks are good - but we still always order 12 fried shrimp!! The waiter & waitresses are attentive - Try it - "

  • "where to go to get good seafood without all the scene and pushy waiters. If you like the real deal and know good seafood, come here!"

  • "Christie's has been a favorite in my family for decades. It is my absolute favorite restaurant in Houston. The fried shrimp at Christie's are topped by no other restaurant. Everything on the menu is delicious and the staff gives consistently superb service. "

  • "Had a nice evening there with friends. The service was excellent. Rolls and salads were just okay, the seafood was really good."

  • "My craving for seafood was definitely fulfilled. The fried oysters, shrimp, stuffed crab and the fish were really good. This was my first time and I will definitely go back!"

  • "It was our first time to dine at Christie's. I think the fact that it is the oldest seafood restaturant in Houston is over-rated. We found the menu choices limited, especially on the seafood section. They don't serve "live" lobster??? Overall, we were a little bit disappointed considering it was our first time, and we invited a friend from Paris, France who was looking forward to having a great seafood dinner. Well, at least we tried. Thanks."

  • "Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. We never had to wait for anything, as she was always one step ahead of the four of us. The food was wonderful. If I had a complaint at all, the wine list could have been a bit larger."

  • "Three of us (+ 1) have been celebrating our birthdays for almost 30 years. Each year, we have picked a different restaurant and cuisine. Two of us used to frequent Christie's in The Medical Center. I ate at the Westheimer location about 29 years ago on another occasion. Our table awaited us, the waiter was professional, friendly and accommodating, and the food was absolutely delectable. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our time at Christie;s. I look forward to a return visit."

  • "We had a reservation for 8:15 and arrived about 10 minutes early. We were seated by 8:20. Our server was very nice, patient, and prompt, made no mistakes. The way the staff was, I would have thought the restaurant was new. The food met or even exceeded my expectations and the price was reasonable."

  • "Our first visit, but not the last. Even though a lot of people were waiting prior to our arrival, they evidently didn't have reservations. We had a short wait for our table. White linens were on all the tables. We never felt rushed even though the place was full. We had whole flounder and blackened catfish filets. We split a dessert of dark chocolate cake with a white cream filling. Everything was delicious. The music was soft enough to be heard but did not interfere with our conversation. In fact, we were impressed that we didn't hear anyone else's conversation either. It was the kind of quiet dining that we used to have in fine restaurants. As we left, the waiting area was still full. Great dining experience with excellent service."

  • "The menu offerings are mostly fish and several options are inventive in topping or preparation. Lovely place for a quiet dinner on a Monday evening."

  • "The service was perfect. Not overly attentive and only came by when appropriate. The gulf oysters we had as an appetizer were so good we had to order a second dozen! I had the grilled seafood and only wish there was more than one scallop on the plate. GF had red snapper and she felt it was very good. I tasted and thought it could have used a bit more seasoning but, that's just me. A pleasant evening and we will look forward to returning again."

  • "Christies is a Houston classic with great service and delicious food. We had a small group for dinner on NYE with a wonderful meal and great service. Even with shortened hours on NYE they were gracious and let us talk and socaiize for a good hour after we finished our meal. I lovely place that deserves thier reputation as one of Houston's best."

  • "We were visiting the Galleria Area around my husband's 65th birthday. Of all the choices, I picked Christie's for nostalgic reasons. I read some reviews that were critical because the restaurant is dated. Well, that's what we like. There are wonderful restaurants in that area but most, as lovely and pricey as they may be, are chains. I thought Christie's had a lot of "style" and good old fashioned service. The food was very good and not over priced. I hope Christie's continues to serve the Galleria area for years and does not sell out to a chain. I know it's very hard to compete in this day and age but my best wishes are with this fine restaurant."

  • "I had not been to Christies in years. I was really delightfully suprised at the atmosphre, service and food. It was a very nice evening with a first date and pretty affordable for that level of quality and service. I will definitely keep them on my go-to list. John T."

  • "My husband and I dined here for HRW. We chose this restaurant because it had some pretty good reviews. We were also interested in trying the salmon on the menu. Unfortunately, they removed the salmon as one of their HRW lunch options. The building is really old and outdated. Although they are renovating the outside, I think more attention needs to be given to the interior of the building. The food was very bland. My meal only came with 2 shrimp. I ended up eating only 1/2 of one of them. The gumbo was bad - nothing like the gumbo from back home (Louisiana and MS Gulf Coast). I really wanted to like this place, because I love supporting local businesses. But, I have to say that I'll never dine here again. I'll stick with Captain Benny's"

  • "Went with my wife and my 22 year old daughter. The food was great we all pick something different off HRW menu. The place is kinda plain in its decor. Could use an interior face lift. I will not hesitate to go back."

  • "The food was horrible!!!!! The resturant is very old, decor was sertiously out dated, and place setting were chipped. It needs to be shut down!!!!! And I can't believe they had the nerve to be on Houston Resturant Week. Rice was under cooked, gumbo was lipton onion soup with shrimp and canned crabmeat added. LESSON LEARNED!!!!!"

  • "Visited Christies during Restaurant Week--Had not been in a long, long time. Despite construction outside, the dining room was quiet, the service was excellent and the food was spectacular. The fried seafood was hot, not greasy, and fresh. The fried shrimp were the best I've had in a long time. Even the fries were great--crispy and good, We will definitely return for more fresh seafood and friendly service. And when we were leaving we ran into some old neighbors we had not seen for 25 years making our return visit to Christies even more memorable."

  • "I had high expectations for this restaurant due to having several recommendations from friends, however I was not impressed. The food and service was decent but not as good as I was expecting it to be. We ordered several different appetizers, including oysters rockefeller and seafood gumbo and I ordered the stuffed snapper and my date ordered the fried seafood platter. Everything we ate was acceptable but not anything special that we would come back for."

  • "The absolute best fried shrimp in Houston. They butterfly huge pieces & season & cook to perfection. Also enjoy the Greek salad. Gumbo, fishes etc are also good. Service is attentive - filling up Water glasses & checking on us. But our order was delivered perfectly - so no problems. We have been eating here for over 30 years & you can always count on a wonderful meal. It is still family owned - & always a family member is there to say "hi" & make sure that it is great."

  • "poor service, poor facility, mediocre food, substantially overpriced ... can't believe the place is still in business with better restaurants at basically the same price ..."

  • "My wife and I have been visiting Christies since the early 1960's--before we were married. She considers the fried shrimp to be the best anywhere. I love the steaks and catfish. Christies is the only restaurant we've visited which has survived all these years."

  • "Arrived and were seated immediately. There was fast service and the food was great but not outstanding. One of our party was Vegan and there was food for her! Rare in a steak and seafood place. Good prices and pleasant atmosphere. This restaurant has been a fixture in Houston since 1917 and once you eat there, you will know why it has lasted all these years!"

  • "We made our reservation for Easter, thinking that Christie's would be serving lamb. We had heard rave things about Mr. Christie's lamb. Shame on us for not verifying that before hand. The seafood dishes we got were good, but not what we were expecting. We tried the crab balls and they were very tasty."
