The waiter was good, but the bus boy was very frenetic and made the meal seem rushed. The wine was not very good (it was a 1/2 bottle for $26. I am sure more expensive ones are better, but I am not that picky to justify paying a lot more). The main dishes were delicious (scallops & ravioli), but I was not impressed with the flatbread appetizer. For the cost I would choose many other restaurants in the city over this one. If I lived near by I might go again out of convenience.

My wife and I were looking forward to a repeat of the smoked trout salad that I had on our last visit to Choquet's. However, they had a special of tuna steak that I ordered instead. The ahi was seared and sliced perfectly and was absolutely delicious with the frites. My wife ordered the mussels and was in heaven with their plump sweetness. The waiter helped us with our wine selection, and we had a beautiful Jurancon that went well with both of our courses. We love this corner bistro in the City.

This has always been one of my favorite neighborhood places where I take friends. This time I was so embarrassed! I had highly recommended the brunch to a friend from out of town. They were advertising a special, crab avocado omelette. Sounded mouthwateringly yummy, but it was horrible. The crab was old and mushy; it had been frozen too long. The avocado was old and soft with brown spots and even the eggs were tasteless. The salad and potatoes were fine, but the omelets were just awful.

Such a great spot! It truly is a neighborhood gem. My fiance and I just moved to SF about 4 months ago and have been saying that we haven't found a cute, cozy, "go to" spot since we moved here from DC. I think we've found it. Not only is it a few blocks from our house, but the ambiance is fantastic (romantic, great lighting), the food was delish and our servers were so sweet!

We recently celebrated my wife's birthday at Chouquet. The atmosphere transported us back to a small neighborhood restraunt. Our waiter, Marc, very knowledgeable and friendly sharing guidance through the food and wine muse while exchanging stories of our travels and families. The food was exceptional, with a broad range of dishes all cooked to perfection. Marc was even kind enough to surprise us with a creme brûlée for desert. The service continued to surpass our expectations when Matc informed us he had removed the wine labels from our bottles, based on an earlier conversation about a collection we had started. Highly recommend Chouquet to anyone looking for great food from great people. Thanks again Chouquet team, we will be back.

We've walked by the restaurant a few times and finally decided to give it a try. The tuna tartare was good, but my mussels were literally the tiniest mussels I've ever seen, about 1/6 the size of a normal mussel (although the sauce was nice). My husband had the steak frites and laughed at the small portion size, calling it a "toy steak." The service was good and the staff was friendly, but the food wasn't compelling enough to go back.

Regardless of our group's 7:00 PM reservation for which we showed up 5 minutes early, we did not get seated until close to 7:30 PM. The reason? The waiter was waiting for the adjacent two-top table to leave because he needed the chairs and table to create our five-top table. At least he was charming. The food is so-so: steak was well-done even though we'd asked for it medium rare, and size-wise for the prize, it was microscopic. On the other hand the mushroom ravioli serving was larger-than-expected but nothing to rave about. The big draws are location - for those seeking a slower pace, it's farther away from the busier blocks of Fillmore Street - and the dog-friendly outdoor seating area. (Inside, the restaurant was half-full.)

I searched for a place within a 1/2 mile of the Gough St. Theatre and was very happy with our choice. We started with a Flamenkuche (flat bread), nicely topped with thinly sliced pear, onion & cheese. It brought smiles to all. For entrees: 2 of us had the N.Y. steak with peppercorn sauce and frites - the steak is less than 1/2" thick and I guess 4-5 oz. cooked. My steak was ordered medium rare and was slightly overdone. The other order was requested medium and was overcooked. Both were very tasty. The peppercorn sauce which is served on the side is excellent. The frites were cooked to perfection. The other dish, St Jacques, yummy but skimpy on the scallops. For dessert, the chocolate hazelnut with banana is to die for.

We set down on a nice corner table but it is a small restaurant. The big group next to us made it very noisy. The service was good but food is so-so. We ordered a plate $12, scallop risotto $28 and sole $27 with beans. The plate was good but he risotto was not as good as I expect. The fish was very thin and salty. I was expecting better food quality at this price. Even though we have a good time but we will not go back unless the restaurant adjust it's price based on the portion and improve the overall quality.

My wife and I stooped in for lunch while shopping in the Fillimore. While they were out of the flamenkucke, the goat cheese tarlet and tuna tartar were excellent substitutes. Our server, Natalie, made excellent recommendations for wine--a great bottle of champagne, as well as the trout salad where replaced the potatoes with tomatoes at her suggestion. For dessert the apple tatin was better than the recommended banana-chocolate crumble since the bananas detracted from the chocolate taste. If you want a taste of Paree and are in the neighborhood, this is a welcoming place.

I was looking for a last minute dinner spot and came across Chouquet's. I hand't heard of it before, but decided to give it a shot. The decor is not what I would normally expect from a French dinner spot, but that didn't matter as the service and food was phenomenal! I would recommend trying the scallops. They were perfectly cooked and hands-down the best I have ever had. Also their desserts are incredible. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, and you'll probably see me there as I plan to come back quite often!

The smoked trout salad was very tasty. The onion soup was a very dark color that struck me as unusual. The mussels were just bad. I love going to French restaurants and having mussels and fries, so I consider myself well versed on mussels. These were overcooked and there was barely any broth. We were there on mussels night, but selected one of the standard orders. They were bad. I'd be more inclined to go to Gamine down the street on Union. I probably wouldn't go back for dinner, but would come in for brunch (they seem to know how to do that better).

Choquet is a friendly neighborhood bistro with outdoor seating and a good vibe. We started with calamari, which was very good, and then had the sole, which was good but overwhelmed by its sauce, and the braised lamb, which was only average since you couldn't really taste the lamb as much as the sauce. We had a half bottle of chateau neuf du Pape at a fair price. Service was friendly and helpful. Overall, a decent neighborhood place but not worth going out of your way for.

I had the evening's special, saute'd mahi mahi, with eggplant and tomato on saffron risotto. Mmmm! And my friend had the scallops, on which she remarked three times about how good they were. we were too full for dessert, so ended with a perfect cafe latte. And our server Natalie was a delight all through, attnetive but not at all intrusive. I'll be back!

When looking at reviews on Open Table we read comments like "Neighborhood Gem or Definitely Recommend" , , , but also some saying "Very Average or So-So". A weekend connoisseur of Eggs Benedict (wink) I ordered the Benedict ($13) the eggs were done perfectly, although a thin piece of Canadian bacon on an under toasted (chewy) muffin with the biggest culprit being the thin Hollandaise sauce with very little flavor. My wife ordered the Croque-Monsieur-(Madame with egg $14) this consisted of one THIN piece of bread, a SMALL piece of ham, Gruyere cheese and an egg, which also included a simple salad. The coffee ($2.50) was VERY weak. So we concur "VERY AVERAGE or SO-SO" and would not return. BEST PART = we paid online via Open Table & left.
