Diner Reviews
  • "I was really excited to try Chops brunch on Easter Day for the first time...arrived at 1:30 starving. Walked in to find a staff that clearly didn't want to be there. All hot food was cold. Had to wait about 10 minutes for more food to come out (most of the trays were empty). "Carving station" was a joke. Save your money & just go to home town Buffett for 10 bucks. At least you're getting what you pay for at hometown Buffett. P.S. Gnats flying around your table are free though. "

  • "The ambience was very nice and the booths are a great idea. Our booth was not very comfortable though, lots of seat sag. The top sirloin was a disappointment but the scallops and pasta was very good. Good carrot cake overall but a bit over sweetened."

  • "Olivia and I made a reservation via Open Table since its free, quick and easy. At Happy Hour, Olivia chose the potato skins and I chose the spinach stuffed mushrooms. They were both excellent. Since I am disabled and use a rollator, it was nice to know that I was able to navigate between the tables and booths. Olivia chose the filet mignon dinner, spinach salad and sauteed mushrooms. The beef is aged and I recommend choosing medium over medium well. Olivia said the the filet said it was delicious and tender. . I chose the shrimp scampi and the scallop fettuccine, I preferred the scallop fettuccine which were large, sweet and tender. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves and would recommend the Happy Hour."

  • "Reservations were at 7:00 PM and we were finally seated at 8:00 PM. It was obvious that they forgot about us in the bar area. The manager was very apologetic and offered a free appetizer which was appreciated. Filets were good but also took a long time to come out. Service was outstanding!! Thank goodness we didn't have a movie planned with dinner."

  • "Terrible service. Our dinner order was incorrect. One order was sent back, then replaced with it overcooked, so that persone only are her mash potatoes and vegetables. The other order was delivered without the added toppings. Had a hard time getting the manager or our waitresses attention. For what it cost not worth the money. Will not be going there again."

  • "I ordered the Filet, which was to come with a baked potato encrusted in salt. The baked potato was not encrusted with salt and in fact appeared to be microwaved. Also, the Filet was way more grissly than I expected and lacked flavor. Given the price paid, I was very disappointed. Server was very friendly."

  • "This is not our first experience at Chops Folsom. After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant to return even though I had my Living Social voucher. Arrived early to have Happy Hour outside, although rain was expected patio was open ( sans the chair pads). Randy was our server and was so pleasant and friendly. I had made reservations with Open Table the prior day for dinner at 5:30 pm. Still enjoying sitting outside and knowing we were not going to make our reservation, we asked Randy if we could be seated in his area when we were done. Our dinner was great and our service was over the top! We will return without a doubt."

  • "Steak is the thing here..we did have the most excellent crab cakes too..nice cheesecake..very good service..pricey but not too bad ..at least the service and food make it worth it!"

  • "The swordfish tacos were amazing. The service was outstanding and the Wente Chardonnay was perfect with the meal."

  • "We found the food to be pretty good although a bit on the pricey side. The decor was industrial chic. Nothing to soften the sound except the fabric on the benches in our booth. Not much of a dress code. Nearby diners were wearing cutoffs and flop flops. Overall an OK experience but it doesn't rise to a place for a special occasion"

  • "The filet mignon was very good. No steak knife needed. We cut it with a butter knife. Shrimp scampi was good as well as the calimari."

  • "WE tried a different spot than our normal area and unfortunately Chops didn't quite make the cut for us. The porterhouse was quite tasty and luckily I had plenty to share (28 oz.) with my wife whose New York was well overcooked. Loud birthday group came in right before entrée to seal the deal. Couldn't get out of there quick enough. Waiter and manager did step up and credited us for my wife's meal. More casual then I was expecting for the Palladium."

  • "My wife & I used our Living Social voucher; $69, 3-course dinner for two. Atmosphere was very nice, and being seated near one of their multiple fireplacess was great! Overall service was good but not great. Some of the folks assisting the wait staff need a little more training and we had to ask for water a few times. (Due to the drought, right?) Well, our dinner was pretty good, especially for the price! Both salads offered were above average as were both entree choices. I had the rib eye steak (cooked perfectly to med/reare) and my wife had the swordfish over risotto, also very good! Dessert was a choc layer cake (okay) and the wine included was a Meridian cab or chard. Nothing special there, but for $69 for two, you couldn't beat it!"

  • "Our server was great he was very attentive. The food was good. The place is on the smaller side and very loud inside. I will go back because it's close. I wouldn't drive 20 miles to eat here."

  • "Bacon wasn't crisp (which I requested) didn't taste any avocado and the bread was soggy. Won't order it again. The fries were ok--but not hot. No excuse--the restaurant was practically empty. Only a couple other diners. Definitely a disappointment."

  • "Had a lovely dinner and dining experience, except for parking. My husband is in a wheel chatr, and that is not a reflection on Chops, the only HC parking place was taken, had to park in garage a couple of blocks away."

  • "Like Morton's, Chops is highly overpriced for what it is. Steak entrees run $30 to more than $60 and the food is mediocre. The tri-tip steaks I cooked at home earlier in the week tasted better than our shared, 28-ounce porterhouse at Chops, part of which was gristly. The baked potato was big but ordinary, and the cooked carrots were spartan and not that flavorful. Cabernet was $13 a glass and served too warm, even for a red. I admit the crab cakes that came with our $72 steak-for-two dinner were good but should have been served as an appetizer, not with the meal. The atmosphere in this restaurant should be better. It really is little more than a glorified coffee shop. All in all, it felt a step above a Coco's but at outrageous prices."

  • "Chops has amazing fillets and a wonderful selection of wines! The service was exceptional. The view from our table was so relaxing and warm on a chilly night. Definitely will be back"

  • "My husband and I had two different experiences at this restaurant. I love my dinner (salmon) and his dinner was so so. He had clam chowder which was so so. His steak was overcooked and so were the onion rings. My salad and salmon were outstanding. This restaurant is pricey and would not go on a regular basis for that reason."

  • "I have been to chops a couple of times but this time was the last! I could make a better stake and stake salad at home! Drinks are way over priced and under pored! advice ( Roman instead of iceberg and better cut of meat)"

  • "Made reservations through Open Table for Super Bowl Sunday. I drove about 25 miles to the restaurant and thy were CLOSED. I called two days later and the person who answered said the Manager will call in about 30 minutes and they did NOT call back. BUMMER."

  • "Upon arrival we were seated immediately. We were given a choice of booth. Waiter was very attentive, did not rush us as we enjoyed a glass of wine before ordering. We each ordered grilled salmon and asked for broccoli to be substituted with asparagus and we both requested to hold the bernaise to keep calorie intake lower. The dinner was delicious but came with both carrots and asparagus and Bernaise sauce."

  • "I am fairly impressed with this restaurant. The service is decent. The shrimp quesadillas were absolutely amazing! The fillet mignon was really good, too. You're going to spend a pretty penny here, but it's really nice for a special occasion."

  • "Dining at Chops in Folsom was simply a great experience. My girlfriend and I came here for an occasion and we were blown away. Friendly service, quick serving, and great food make this place a must try. It's not a place for romance or a large group of kids, but for a date or family get together it's a must-go."

  • "Finally, a great steak place in Folsom. It was perfect from beginning to end. Our table was ready per our reservation. Our server was friendly but not annoyingly so. The salad, dinner, and desert all came timely without feeling rushed. The food was fresh, hot, perfect portions, and presentation clean not fussy. We will be back..."

  • "Was expecting a nice evening out but got a very noisy evening. Lack of table linens contributed to the noise. Food was okay, but service was not up to high standards of a nice restaurant. May or may not return."

  • "We went to Chop's as a party of four celebrating a birthday and an anniversary. Our waitress was prompt, courteous, attentive and made reasonable suggestions. The food was amazing. I had the lobster tails which were large, plump and very flavorful. My mother had the lollipop lamb chops, they were large and cooked perfectly. My husband and father had the steak. What can I say? The steak is the main attraction at Chop's. The potions were great, the food was great (as good as the previous time we went) and the service was great, although it should be noted that our reservation was for 4:30pm on a Sunday. The prices were up there, but you should expect that based on the fare offered. The wine, however, was reasonably priced."

  • "My husband and I arrived for an early dinner and our seating request was honored by the maitre'd. After that, service became nearly non-existent. Seemed like our server had graduated from dishwashing earlier in the day! We had reviewed the menu on their website so had a fairly good idea of what our choices would be; however, my husband had a question about the lamb entree which our sever couldn't clearly answer. Moving on to the food, both my Salmon Oscar and hubby's Dixon Lamb Lollipops were outstanding! The presentation, especially seeing the perfectly grilled salmon on a bed of spinach and asparagus, was perfect. We finished up by sharing an apple crisp. It was topped with two scoops of ice cream and was great!"

  • "Arrived early and headed to the bar for Happy Hour and stood in line at the bar, we were called for our table so I went to sit down while my boyfriend stayed in line. The bartender would not serve him since we then had a table. Seriously??? Crab cakes were delish, but barely warm. The waiter instead of getting new ones only stated he would tell the chef. Our main dish (Steak and lobster) was out of this world."

  • "Chops has been around for awhile, in roseville since moved to Folsom, I have never been. I received some gift cards for my birthday and my wife and I went for a date night saw a movie right next door at Paladio Theater and experienced a very good dinner and seemed like everyone there was enjoying themselves. Great first time and will be back again. If Manny is your server you will be taken good care of, he is excellent!!"

  • "The food was mediocre overall. Crabcakes had too much filler--no sauce offered. Mixed salad had almost tasteless dressing. Porterhouse steak was cooked to order and was fairly tender. Short ribs had an odd flavor and spinach was almost non-existent. Carrots were too sweet and mashed potatoes heavy and rather dry. The apple crisp with ice cream was flat and overcooked--ice cream was fine. Service was prompt and cordial. Location would be very fine for a movie before or after a meal. The lunch menu looked good but we had no experience there."

  • "FOOD WAS OK. THE TIMING WAS OFF WITH THE COOKS AND THE FOOD/APP TIMES. FOR THE PRICE I WOULD EXPECT ALLOT MORE. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. FOR A $160 MEAL FOR TWO I EXPECT GREAT GOOD, GREAT SERVICE AND JUST A GREAT OVERALL EXPERIENCE. IF THIS WAS A $100 MEAL FOR TWO, I WOULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE HAPPIER. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SPEND IT AT SUTTER STREET STEAK HOUSE."
