Chophouse 47 – Steaks & LobsterSpecialThis is a fav of my husband's and mine. The steaks are amazing. We never have even a mediocore dining experience. This time I took my mother for mother's day. She's 85 and still loves her lobster. It was a great evening!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent prime steakTwo of us had the porterhouse for two, and two had the 8oz ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly. Hat tip for offering 80z ribeye cut. Perfect size for moderate appetites. Prime porterhouse lived up to its price - filet was tender and tasty and strip side was well marbled. Asaparagus and green beans were good, not great. Suggest broiling the asparagus vs. steamed.

It has the best steaks in the city, hands down, and sides are very good. The menu could use a little more variety of main courses. The wine list is very good, but could use a high end expansion. Service has always been very good here, but this time there was not quite the attention and the restaurant was not that busy (Wednesday). When you are paying for this level, the service needs to come across "personal" and not "pushed".On ambience the restaurant has a good theme and layout, and lighting, though improved over the past, is still a little too dark. We were there with another couple on a night when there was a large group in the open area just behind our booth - which turned out to be noisier than desired.
We actually started the night on the other side of the restaurant but the cigar smell was too strong. (Smoking is allowed in the bar since it's outside Greenville city limits.)

They definitely have the best steaks in town, and all of their sides are amazing as well. I had some flowers delivered through OpenTable's partnership with flowerpetal, and informed the staff through the comments area of my reservation what was planned. They had us at the back table next to the windows, farthest from the bar as requested. I noticed the light level that everyone complains about was actually much higher than my last visits. It wasn't too dark at all, so maybe they're listening to the comments here.
