So, you think you can cook a better steak at home? How about you take the night off and go to Chop instead, and order a bottle of wine. We came here for a business dinner, and we will be back. It is a smaller dining area, and they have plans to expand next door. But who cares, they do great work in the kitchen, the staff was great, owner came by to say hi at the table.

My husband an I had a rate date night while visiting his parents. The restaurant is in a spot that has turned over many times. It is tiny. A bit cramped actually. The wine list is excellent. A very good variety particularly on reds. We had the pot stickers to start which were excellent and I had the soup of the day, an asparagus bisque, that was out of this world. Unfortunately the entrees fell flat for me. Way too much salt was used. I had the halibut special and my husband had a surf and turf. We wrapped it up with a salted Carmel sundae (delicious) and an Irish coffee. All and all a good experience. However if we go back I will hve to ask to go easy on the salt.

Our second experience at Chop. This time we each had steak and you couldn't ask for better. She opted for the "Japanese butter" and we both felt that the seasoning was too subtle to distinguish from plain butter. The first time we were there the popovers were fresh (popovers are one of their signature items). The vegetables were delightful and an excellent accompaniment for the steak. The soup both times was very nice; I wouldn't have called either a bisque, but I'm sure the chef is more knowledgeable than am I in this regard and certainly not a criticism. I look forward to dining there again and would be proud to take guests there or to recommend Chop to friends.

This very quaint restaurant tucked in Sister Bay as if hiding from the masses. We were so pleased to have found Chops. We were celebrating our 37th anniversary in Door County. This was our first time in Sister Bay. We both had the lobster special. Two cold water tails prepared beautifully with a price of $39.00. Unbelievable. A very nice wine list as well. The hostess was friendly and very accommodating. The service was amazing. When we return to Sister Bay we will definitely return to Chops!

Outstanding restaurant, terrific food, great selections, friendly energetic staff.....what more could you want. This was our first visit to CHOP, and it will certainly not be our last. We visit Door County 3-4 weeks each year and take full advantage of the fine dining establishments located there. We had never been able to fit CHOP into the "rotation" of restaurants we normally visit. From now on, we will be building our wish list of restaurants to visit AROUND CHOP!!

First time I've had the mussels appetizer - my sister and I shared (a pound for $12!). She ordered the go-to stuffed porkchop, but I went for the Seafood Special and chose lobster. I've had really good lobster and I've had mushy or rubbery lobster. CHOP nailed it - just perfect - with wild rice and a mini-salad (I'd already had the CHOP salad with the entree). Thanks to Jody and Patsy for staying open some evenings off-season (you're in the minority!).

The food was good, not amazing. The space is smallmn ot what we expected to see for a steak house named "Chop." Never having been to Door County before & ever dining at this restaurant, we thought we'd arrive early for at drink at the bar to find that it was only 4 or 5 stools long & was full. We asked for a table with a "view" thinking that the restaurant was by the bay. Instead we found it located in a parking lot of a shopping strip mall & were seated by a window which looked out to a plastic covered outdoor patio. We had a good laugh. Our server was fabulous, very knowledgable about the food & wine list as well as the area. The Creme Brûlée is worth going back for. Overall it was a good experience & we enjoyed ourselves.

2 nights in a row! Best egg rolls we ever had to start out with! The surf and turf (I chose lobster and NY strip) were great. Large tail and steak done to perfection! Baby smashed potatoes were the chef's potato of the night and while I would not have chosen that, the chef changed my mind. They were seasoned to perfection! Large wine list reasonably priced. To top it off, I received a call and was asked if I left my glasses. While it was not me, I was impressed with their caring! The place is quite small and the tables are close together. Even though that is something I really don't care for, the food and service was so great, I would definitely come back since it was the best dinner we have had in door county in years!

The staff is very friendly & accommodating. They were running behind, so we sat at the counter by the door for a little while. They have a patio area that was enclosed with plastic that would make a good waiting area if they added heaters. They did comp us our first drink for having to wait which was appreciated! The tables are close together, but comfy. The wine was great, the food was good. I had the filet mignon & my husband had walleye. My steak was supposed to have béarnaise sauce on it. Either they forgot to put it on or it wasn't very flavorful. My husband enjoyed the fish, but said the wild rice was blah. I don't know- maybe he just doesn't like wild rice! We had a banana foster to go & we'd rate that a 5 out of 5!!!

Food and service was fantastic. Our group of 4 all commented how we could have chosen about a dozen items off the menu, it's an impressive selection. We expected a little more intimate dining experience, but it was louder and more energetic than we anticipated. Not a bad thing for our group that evening, but if it was just my wife and me looking for a quiet dinner, I may have to look elsewhere. However, the food was excellent and I'm sure we'd go back!

Went on a Friday night, had a 7:00 reservation. Read other reviews, and yes this place is TINY. Tiny and LOUD. I'm sure it's lovely when you can sit outside, weather permitting. Kate was our server, she wasn't very friendly. Everything we ate here was outstanding, EXCEPT for the caesar salad, don't bother ordering that, it tasted prepackaged and lettuce was wilted. Do enjoy the wonderful popovers, carrot cake, and steaks with bernaise sauce. They cram you in here so you are right on top of the table next to you and there was a large party of 20 behind us which added to the loudest restaurant ever. I had such a headache when I left.

We were quite shocked when we walked into Chop, seeing people sitting on a patio with plastic covered screens and outdoor heaters. Inside there was a 'bar' with three stools that doubled as a crowded waiting area to check in. The restaurant as a whole is a small, crowded room with no elbow space. Our table was tiny and about 4 inches from our neighbors. We had no privacy, room to relax, or the ability to have a conversation. I had to yell at my companion across the tiny table. I felt like we were sitting on a NY bus. The food itself was a 4/5, but the atmosphere gives my overall rating a 1. We will never go back.

I stumbled upon the listing for Chop while researching dining options for our weekend away. Then met a couple who had been in Door County the previous week and asked them if they had eaten anywhere they would recommend. They mentioned Chop. I made our reservation. So very glad that I did. Such a wonderful experience! Our server was personable and glib, the chopped salad was fresh and tasty and the filet, topped with blue cheese and bacon (hubby) and béarnaise (mine), were like butter in our mouths. Carrot cake and flour less chocolate cake were the perfect finish to our meal. The only negative is a small dining space as noted in other reviews; not a big enough deal to keep us from coming back. Looking forward to a return visit next year!

Planned ahead for a Door County weekend. Stayed in Egg Harbor but thought this restaurant was worth a try, so we drove north on a Saturday evening. It did not disappoint. Kind of off the main Sister Bay strip and in a condo type area, I'll say at first I was a bit leary. Once in the restaurant, I was at ease. Not overly fancy, but nice and comfortable. It's small, so tables are close together, but it was fine. Friendly atmosphere and stellar service. We both had different steaks as a main course and they were excellent. Not a big deal to us, but they don't serve liquor, only beer and wine. I'll go back again...

We were told about Chop at another restaurant earlier in the week. Excellent steaks, salads were great and a wonderful creme brulee. The steak was placed over garlic smashed potatoes which gave them a richer flavor. If we come up to Door County in warmer weather we will definitely come back to dine in the outdoor patio.
