CHOP was recommended by friends when I told them I would be visiting Door County and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is a little hard to find...off the beaten path behind a strip mall. I'm glad my husband and I looked for it during the day for that night's dinner. I ordered the lobster which was outstanding and served with wild rice and my husband ordered the ribeye. His steak was slightly undercooked, but not enough to justify sending back. The portion sizes were MORE than enough. We were a little overdressed- most people were in jeans. Next time we'll sit outdoors. Well worth the "splurge" for a fantastic meal you will not forget!

I had the Ribeye, and it was probably one of the top 3 steaks I have ever had. It was cooked to perfection and was melt in your mouth good. My wife raved about the Asparagus soup as well. Would highly recommend Chop for a romantic occasion, we went for our 25th anniversary and it is a cozy place with excellent food and service. We have been to Door County many times, and I would have to say this is the best food we have had over all the years.

Dinner at Chop was excellent! Our meal started with complimentary hot popovers served with a flavored butter. I had the house salad and my husband had the summer salad - both delicious. My petit filet was cooked perfectly and had an amazing sear on it. My husband had the Beef Burgundy tips - also very good. Don't miss the Carrot Cake.

The surf & turf was excellent. Steak, medium rare as requested, lobster, perfectly done. Get the house sauce, it is a wonderfully mixed butter & worchestershire blend. Food was great, service was top notch. Not often you can go to a tourist area and pay under $100.00 without tip for an awesome dinner and a couple of drinks. Along with others, I consider myself a fairly good chef on steak and seafood. My wife & I were more than happy with our dinner, and for a change, not just because someone else was doing the work. Have and will again suggest CHOP as an excellent place to dine. Was able to converse with my wife while dining. Please note that my wife nor I are wine drinkers, so not sure of their offerings. .

I was looking for someplace new to take my wife on her birthday and read the patron reviews of Chop and every review was positive, so I made my reservation. Well, the place is a gem, it's intimate, nice décor, excellent service and good food. We took advantage of the early bird special menu since we had a play to attend and found $19.95 three course menu offerings just right. Several options for the first course, I had a Caesar salad and my wife had pot stickers, which were outstanding. My second course was the linguini and white clam sauce, actual clams in their shells. My wife had the scallops which I sampled. Both entries were excellent. We will be going there for dinner again when we visit Door County. Good service as well.

We have been coming to Door County since 1997. We have several favorite places to dine in DC. We were looking for a new dining experience this year and discovered Chop. It's location was tricky to find. However, the dining experience was excellent. Very small and quaint environment indoors with some limited outdoor seating. Menu was very good and food was outstanding. Our server was very attentive and offered many suggestions on entree and wine selections. I would rate Chop as one of the better restuarants in DC.

After having dinner here a couple of weeks ago (my wife had a filet mignon while I had a petite filet/lobster tail), we couldn't wait to come back. This time it was the Friday night salmon for her and king crab for me. She said the salmon was excellent, in a somewhat unusual preparation. The king crab was, well, king crab, done correctly and served with drawn butter (the quantity of the butter needs to be increased slightly for the 1.25 pounds of crab). We both remarked on the quality of the somewhat unusual house salad. For dessert, we passed up the carrot cake we had on our first visit (best either of us can recall ever having) in favor of Bananas Foster cheesecake (great, but it didn't make us forget the carrot cake). Chop rocks!

Everyhing was just average the $2 upgrade for the summer salad and the $2 upgrade for the double baked potato was a joke. Could grill a bettter steak at home. Carrot cake everyone raves about on line was pricey for portion size and again average. We have had many better meals in Door County. Atmosphere wasn't anything special-eat outdoors inside is dark, cramped and noisy. Even outside wasn't that great -they needed heaters, the evenings have been cool and the only heater was out of propane and they didn't have a refill. There are many better places to dine so we won't be returning to Chop.

Tripadvisor rated this #! in Door County. The location offers no view of the lake. We were seated quickly staff was nice. Wine list had no local wineries on it? After a day of visiting wineries I would have enjoyed a glass of something I sampled earlier in the day. My wife and I both had steak. they where both cooked to temp perfectly. I opted with the special bone in tomahawk rib eye steak. the server told me that the chef said to beware of this area as there is more gristle then normal. In all my life no one delivering a steak to me has ever told me something like that. The steak was tough, lots silver skin and gristle. I make a point of putting all the inedible meat on separate plate. I mentioned it to sever nothing was offered to fix.

Though some may consider our experience as good service we felt like we were being shoved out the door.It took 40 minutes from our seating until the check arrived. My wife and I wanted to dine but our server had other ideas. We found the seating to be crowded especially our seats by the restrooms where there was plenty of traffic. Our chopped salads where great the walleye was fresh but under cooked. In all I would not bother to go back.

We ve been to the restaurant several times and it s been very good. However the last time we were there you had King crab legs on the menu, so we ordered those. They were terrible. Very small for king crab and dried out. Also we had a tenderloin...asked for medium rare...it was barely rare. Should have sent it back and this time the piece I had was tough. Our most disappointing meal we ve had there

This small restaurant has tight seating and is rather loud. Not the place I would choose for a quiet dinner. Even the outside seating is very tight, and you find yourself ducking to allow wait staff to pass while serving other tables. The food is quite good, but this restaurant sits behind the Piggly Wiggly and looks at other shops and the outside seating looks at two garbage cans. I was disappointed.

The food was very good. Our waitress however was not. She seemed to not be very happy to be there. She was snippy with us and it seemed like she didn't want to take the time to answer our questions. This was our first time there. It was our 35th anniversary and was on a Monday night. We did have a reservation. We did not feel like we were treated well. Not a place to go for a romantic meal. It is very small and the tables are too close. You can hear the conversations of everyone around you. It felt like the meal was very rushed so they could get others at the table. There are so many great restaurants in door county that we will probably not be back at Chop.

We were a party of three, greeted us at the table, but never mentioned her name. It was awhile before she came back to take our order and then said she'd be back w/bread...that was about 10 mins. Duck was pretty good, lamb chops a bit over done, but the beef wellington wasn't a beef wellington that we had before. It was a big puff turnover placed over the steak. Wellington is a puff pastry with the beef encased/baked with steak inside and you need to cut into everything. It wasn't a beef wellington....a Pepperidge Farm turnover that wasn't very tasty. Sorry, but the whole experience was like a Friday the 13th.

We had to eat inside, even though we had a reservation for 5 they crammed us onto a table they usually set for 4. They serve soda from a can which we couldn't even get right when we ordered because they were out of ice. So no refills on the $2.25 can of soda, never heard of that in a restaurant with an upscale menu. They automatically charged 20% tip for tables of 5 or more. Most certainly not family friendly. They were completely out of King Crab by 7pm. Steak was great with the Chop butter. Only one potato choice is really odd.
