  • "Took my husband out for an early birthday dinner and we were impressed by the quality of food and variety and balance of what was on our plates. I ordered the prime rib with a wedge salad and baked potato. The salad was on a nice long plate with big pieces of iceberg lettuce and yummy blue cheese depressing. My prome rib was huge, juicy and tender, baked potato had all toppings and also came with seasonal greens. A well balanced meal. The chop Caesar was a bit spicy for me to drink, but their Bellini was awesome! Had a frozen ice cube that had raspberries infused in the ice! Compared to The Keg the cost is about the same, but I prefer chop steak house over The Keg anytime!! Was a bit dark inside but clean and had a nice romantic mood"

  • "Got there around 9pm Friday and the restaurant was dead. We were sat at a table for 10 minutes and were simply being ignored even though a couple of servers from afar did make eye contacts. Not even a glass of water was offered. It'll be a long time before I'll go back, if ever. To be fair giving one star for food quality wasn't really fair as we had walked out, but that was the only option."

  • "We've been to chop several times. I always order the large prime rib as well as the wedge salad. My husband ordered a seafood chowder but the server brought out the French onion. My husband likes both so didn't question it. Server was nice however when our food came out the size of the prime rib wasn't as thick or large as I remembered. The lady who brought it out said medium prime rib. I didn't think much about it thinking the server got my order confused. Food was delicious as usual. when the bill came out it was for a large and 4 dollars extra. I questioned the server and he said the lady didn't know. I asked about the price and he said I ordered the chop experience prime rib dinner so it was 4 bucks more. It's not been that way before"

  • "Just when I was worrying about finding a pIave that doesn't have room or minimum table charge...I found chop. I really appreciate how there was no minimum charge or room charge for booking a private 14 people room to celebrate my frds birthday. We ended up spent around 200 at our own and I couldn't think of a better place to host birthday gathering. It will be the place from now on."

  • "Came here to treat my mother and the party a dinner late at night. All of us ordered either steaks or the prime rib. The host and servers were very kind and friendly. Everything was great and would of given a full 5 stars if it wasn't for the prime rib. The prime rib was ordered at medium rare for two separate entrees, and both was a bit hard to chew and cut. However the rest of the steaks was good."

We had to ask for water to be poured, giving us steak knives, no mother's day gift while every table got it (went with boyfriend and his mom), little portion of food, food were too salty and wasn't even warm. Horrible. Will never be going back after this. "

  • " Four of us had a very enjoyable birthday dinner at Chop. It was my first visit, and I plan to return. The ahi tuna was attractive and delicious. The sirloin with three sauces was rated fabulous. I never got a chance to taste the bread as there wasn't enough, and it should be separated so other diners don't have to touch it to pull it apart. Outside seating looked inviting but highway noise wasn't pleasant. We were glad to eat inside where is was busy but quiet. How about some sort of noise barrier, glass or shrubs or both, to make the outside seating more usable. The interior of the hotel was stylishly remodeled; it looked like a new, modern hotel inside. "

Ordered kids meal, server didn't remember to bring appy or juice, not until we asked for at least. Food were good. But staff have low hygiene: table was not clean, they even left some used stacked sharing plate there expected us to use them. When i asked to server to get new ones, she stared us. "

  • "Went for my bf's bday dinner. It really bugs him when people make mistakes with his order (he never has fussy requests, but is unlucky with just getting what he asked for) and the waitress was told he wanted his steak medium rare, but it came out medium. I asked for mine medium, and it came out medium-well. We were going to say something, but they seemed short-staffed, so she was infrequently around, and then we would have to wait longer. Food was mediocre- not worth what we paid. We both had the mashed potatoes as a side, and for some reason they thought it would be great to load them full of horseradish to the point of it burning my nose. I'm not a picky eater, but this was really unpleasant. Wouldn't return."

  • "We went with family to have a nice dinner before heading to a social event. The atmosphere was nice and different then expected for a typical restaurant of this type (lounge+bar etc). Our server was very attentive and pleasant, checking in just the right amount to make sure all was well with the meal and drinks. A good wine deal for the evening and good food overall with appetizers and entrees made for a more then appropriate portioned meal. "

  • "Service was good. Appetizers were seafood dip and steak bites and they were amazing. Tea and dessert were great and served attractively. Mashed potatoes had horseradish in them which was not indicated beforehand, had I known I would have ordered something else. Prime rib was disappointing, grisly and chewy and not cooked to med rare like I ordered. It was really dark in the restaurant, too dark to eat."

  • "Brought my boyfriend for a late lunch date and the service, and food were both great! It was very quiet so we were served super quick and our server was very friendly. We ordered the oven roasted hot wings (delicious), prawn cocktail (super good) and both my boyfriend and I ordered steak with our sides. We were stuffed so we skipped dessert but we will definently be back!!"

  • "1. Service was notably poor. It took almost an hour to take our order and almost an hour to get our food, and we had to go hunt down a waitress to bring the bill 2. Several people ordered the ahi tuna salad and it did not have dressing at all, whereas others ordered the same thing and it came with the dressing on the side 3. Reservations - I asked them to let me know if I could move up my reservation for 16 any earlier. Less than 3 hours before our reservation they called to say they could but by then it was definitely too short notice for so many people."

  • "I have been wanting to try CHOP since it opened and finally made it there with a friend. I ordered the crab/seafood boil and she ordered a steak. My seafood dish was very bland and somehow I guess I envisioned Dungeness crab seeing as how we are next to the coast. And usually when you have to use your fingers you get a finger bowl. a bit messy. My friend ordered her steak medium rare but it was definitely well done. The service was great, we certainly enjoyed the wine. bit disappointing for sure in the food department."

  • "Our server was very poor. She kept forgetting things. We got half our entrees and had to wait for the others and then did not have cutlery. There was a fly in the milk when the coffee was served. The carrots were hardly cooked. We will be hard pressed to go there again after having been repeat customers. Disappointing and embarrassing as we took guests there. We were surprised how few people there were in the place."

  • "Great spot to get together with friends and colleagues...our office is located nearby. We were organizing a farewell for a colleague and wanted to find a location easy to access from both Richmond and other parts of the city...good food, we have an excellent waiter and we enjoyed ourselves very much. I have been here also in the summer for the outdoor bar/restaurant...great spot on a sunny, hot day!"

  • "We were a group of women celebrating a co-workers birthday. One of our party received a steak sandwich that appeared to be off and tasted quite awful. Although this was replaced with a fresh steak it was disappointing to know that the steak was served in the first place. This same diner had her lunch completely ruined when her glass arrived with a large lipstick stain - she was not wearing lipstick. We have been dining at Chop since it opened but have noticed a definite decline in the food over the past few years. Unfortunately it looks like we will have to find other restaurants to dine at in the future."

  • "I had been to this place for lunch a year prior and it was great! Excellent food and good service. We were a group of 11 people (for business) in a 'private room', the service was a disaster and the restaurant was quiet. I had to serve the wine after they brought the 1st bottle for the whole service. Plates from appetizers were not all cleared when they brought the main course and I had to tell the waiter to clear those place. Some plates were left on the table when the dessert came. No attention, I had to get up to ask for cutleries, the bill, service..... It has been a long time since I experience such poor service. Not impressed. Cute looking girl but they did not care about their guests. I would not go back again. The Food was good!"

  • "Beautiful décor and comfortable ambience. Delicious French onion soup, good portions for the prime rib. Waitress didn't count the number of guests and bring enough bread (wasn't enough for one slice per person) but she was very friendly and attentive with drinks. Online menu pricing out of date. The menus in the restaurant also had inconsistent pricing. Some menus had $27.95 for the top sirloin, some had $28.95. Pleased that the food came out at the same time for everyone. Overall good experience and would come again."

  • "We had a group of 8 for a business dinner. Good selection of foods....steaks were had all around. Delicious. No one went home hungry. Love that you can get a mini version of the deserts. Wine list is reasonable and variety of price levels and choices. Was a little bit noisy from a table next to us with a similar sized group that was more focused on updating their social media status and taking pictures all night."

  • "When we came in my husband and I were greeted by 2 hostesses, One was extremely nice and polite, (offered to take our umbrella, asked how our weekend has been) but the other one was completely ignoring us (just confirmed our reservation for the night. Later on when we're leaving we found her sitting down at the reception area with her feet up the coffee table. I guess she was off but I don't think that's appropriate.) When we were seated our waiter came and she learned her hips in the table and she said 'so we have our valentine's day menu but it's no big deal, it's part of the regular menu anyways so whatever you know. Oh no my nail broke!'. I couldn't help but stare at her. Overall, food was okay. We were just put off by this waitress."

  • "As I wrote my review it kept saying it's too long! So I'm not going to give details as this won't let me. 3rd time there as per requested from the manager & it just got worse! Drinks 20-25mins late, appy order was never placed, found our waiter playing in the kitchen with a co-worker aiming food into his mouth, appy came 20mins after we had waited 20mins to find out he never placed the order, bread never came & my dinner order was completely wrong! Valentines Day dinner gone completely wrong! Very disappointed! Will email Eric with details since there not even character space on here. Thank you!"

  • "Was a great dining experience food was so great best prime rib I have had in a very long time .. Wine list was very good . Karly our waitress was very friendly , and know the menu well gave us ideas what she has had and what she liked which was nice . Also she offered to order us another crab cake as there is just three in a order . We were there the week before and never got offered that .. She was just over all nice and really made our dining nice. Very quiet as this was my spouses first time and he wants to return .."

  • "Very happy with picking Chop for a belated Valentine's Day supper with my husband. The atmosphere was wonderful, the decor was beautiful (including some pretty bathrooms!).   • "In honour of Valentines day a glass of champagne on arrival was a bonus treat, but as it had been pre-poured, it was a little flat and warm. The meals were excellent, starter caesar salad was crisp and delicious (lots of garlic), Tuna tataki was good, the steaks were all cooked as ordered. French fries ordered with one of the meals arrived soggy and cool. A new order was brought, but still the fries were a bit soft. The wine and ordered drinks were excellent and timely. The service was excellent. I would go back to this restaurant."
