  • "arrived 10 minutes early for our 7pm reservation, we took a place in the crowded entrance way, noticed a bottle of wine and helped ourselves to a small glass (emptied the decanter had to share it was never refilled). We waited another 40 minutes for our table & finally we were seated at 7:30. our booth looked directly into the washroom entrance. DH & I ordered greyhounds to drink & they were amazing really, my sons drink order was screwed up (he drank it anyway) our server didn't return for a while. Food was tasty but not worthy of the price. I had Steak salad and found wilted old greens in it. My sons prime rib was half fat & gristle and my husband was still hungry after his tiny steak. Our youngest ordered a burger & was delighted."

  • "This was the first time we have eaten at Chop and we will not be in a hurry to go back. The wait staff are young and keen but are poorly trained and/or inexperienced. Our waiter made a mistake on our appetizers which he admitted to, rather than using the usual line wait staff use blaming the kitchen. That I can forgive, but we never got a visit from the manager, nor any offer to make up for it ie. comping a dessert, or our first round of drinks (which we ordered to go with the appetizer that never came). But what is harder to get over is that this is a chophouse and our steak was overdone. If you are going to call yourself "Chop" and compete with all the other steak places in Calgary, this is one thing you had better get right!"

  • "My husband and I always go the CHOP when we are craving their famous steak bites.. if you have ever had them you will know what we are talking about! The service there is always top notch and we have never had a waiter that was not enthusiastic and friendly. The food is always excellent! If you are a salad fan you will LOVE the Chop salad! Definitley hands down my favorite salad anywhere!!"

  • "We had the "experience" dinner, with soup or salad before the main meal. We all had different combinations and enjoyed it. My friend's seafood chowder had seafood in every bite. The portions for the entree were good. A small steak, rice or potato & some perfectly cooked veggies. We felt satisfied, but still had room to try yummy desserts. I had mini creme brûlée, which came in a Demi tasse cup, and was the perfect amount. My friend shared a feature dessert of lemon custard on a meringue & loved it."

  • "This was my first time dining here. We showed up too early for our reservation so we went upstairs first to have a drink. The atmosphere was a lot more "pub style". The music was louder, tvs to watch sports, etc. On the main level is more dining and you can have a nice conversation without needing to yell. So depending on your mood that evening you can either choose upstairs or main level. I ordered the prime rib which was delicious. Tender and juicy. The portion sizes were a perfect amount. I would definitely fine here again"

  • "This is probably the 6th time I've eaten at Chop and am always happy with the quality of the food. I did notice smaller portions on this latest trip, and the infused mashed potatoes weren't as noticeably wasabi tasting as usual, but the caesar salad was excellent and the steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody."

  • "I will start off by saying the service was great! We started with the cheese bread which was garlicky cheesy goodness. Unfortunately 3 of us ordered french onion soup and they were all cold. The main meals we all had different beef dishes (filet mignon and prime rib) which were all very good but will add the veggies were undercooked on one plate. All in all we came for the beef which was good. We would try it again."

  • "A group of 7 of us dined at chop after a movie on at Saturday evening. This was the third time we've eaten there and it was by far the best. The prime rib was perfect and we had excellent service. I would recommend Chop after shopping or a movie. They have a nice children's menu as well. I wasn't able to book a table for 7, so we did two tables- one preteens and one adults which worked out nice."

  • "the service was very good, our waitress was so nice and very attentive. we had a party of 8 and a 6 month old. there seemed to be a lot of families with young kids in our section. it was nice to see a place like that was so accommodating to young children. i get the sense they put us all in one section away from other diners which was fine by me, and probably the diners without kids as well. the food was good, it came in good time. it's a bit pricey but all the steaks were cooked perfectly and good portions. the chop is basically like the keg with a bit smaller menu."

  • "A nice place to go without kids. We enjoyed the appetizer and dessert, but the main was unfortunately disappointing. My husband said it was the fattiest and undercooked prime rib he has ever had (asked for medium rare, but parts of it came out almost blue). On the upside, the waitstaff were great and very accommodating, and service was fast."

  • "We didn't have the greatest experience, the appetizer was put on a warm plate which made the meat stick to the plate. The steak was not cooked properly and was sent back. Meal did not come with a side of fries that was ordered. Not a wonderful experience. Manager came over but nothing was done to the bill which is odd considering the experience however not much we can do"

  • "This restaurant has good ambiance and great service (all staff very helpful). I was however very dis-appointed with both mine and my wife's dinners. I ordered "Smoked Rib steak. The steak was tough and tasteless, short of the pepper seasoning and gross smoke flavor applied. Potatoes and veggies were okay. The onion soup was also good. My wife's "filet" was very tender, but again tasteless. I am not sure if you use AA or A beef from where-ever, but both steaks lacked the nice beef flavor we are used to. However, I will say booth steaks were cooked the way we like them. I look for a lot better quality of food when I spend $140 for dinner. Overall, the experience was very dis-appointing if you like quality food!"

  • "Dinner for two with a bottle of wine for a hundred buck was about what I expected. But the size of portions was small and my steak was slightly over done. Side dishes were fresh and tasty. Service was very good. It's just that the portions were small and looked real lonely on the plate. I would go back but not if it was out of my way to get there."

  • "We booked for lunch for 8 people three weeks in advance. We were shown to a booth that sat 6 comfortably, NOT 8. When we brought this to managements attention it was basically you are out of luck as the larger tables are full. We made it known that we booked three weeks in advance and that we should have been accommodated for. It was impossible for us to eat without encroaching on our neighbours and our arms were glued by our sides. This was a lunch and time was of the essence - it took 2 hours in total for us to get in and out. We are voting with our feet and our voices and never going back."
