Chop South Edmonton - Ellerslie Rd is located on Ellerslie Road, just a few minutes south from South Edmonton Common and Southgate Shopping centre. Chop is attached to the upscale Sandman Signature Hotel, just off of Calgary Trail.

TODAY'S STEAKHOUSE. At Chop we bring together all the elements that discerning guests love about wine and food and combine them with energy, style and value. For the steak lover, Chop steaks are aged a minimum of 28 days and cooked in a specially designed oven that cooks at 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit for incredible flavor. If your preference is seafood, we have a fantastic selection of fish dishes complimented with sensational sauces and sides.

Fresh baked Winnipeg rye bread and delightful desserts, like our signature Fallen Chocolate Souffle Cake, are created by our baker daily. Our extensive wine list is assembled by sommelier Kim Spence and has something for every palate, ranging from elegant white wines to fruit forward reds.

So HQ if you read this and you want to keep me and all my business partners from overseas as regular clients, then put the baseball cut bck on the menu ASAP. I don't need the Lobster topping. Henk"

  • "We returned here for our 35 th anniversary. Last year when we visited for our anniversary, we we given a complimentary dessert and a card! What an impressive surprise that was! (The hostess was the one who asked us if we were celebrating anything)well same thing happened this year with the hostess, but our celebration was not acknowledged at all by the restaurant. Not to say they should have, but was kinda expecting something, like we received last year.(another table close to us received a card from the restaurant).So although the food was amazing, the service was not up to par. Our server did not even inform us of the daily specials which we didn't realize until the table next to us was offered the special.So we were a little disappointed"

  • "Just a great evening. Our waiter Jess was very good and enhanced a wonderfully prepared and presented meal. My wife had a chicken pasta dish which was as fabulous as described by Jess. I ordered the Short Rib and it exceeded my expectations, tender, succulent and with a wonderful flavour. The mashed potatoes were excellent. Staff were attentive and polite with welcoming smiles. Made for a really memorable evening. We will be back"

  • "The server recommended a wine which we ordered. Price was not offered nor did I ask. It was $19 per glass, about double the house wines. For the price, the meals were mediocre. I expected the steak to be incredible based on what I had heard about the restaurant and based on the higher price range of dinner entrees. We were put in a small room on our own. It was very crowded and there was no air conditioning or circulation. It was an very hot day, so was uncomfortable."

  • "I ordered a medium steak. It was very well done and tough. Very little taste. they offered to replace it but that would have meant having to sit for extra time in the oven like atmosphere. We were told that when it was this hot outside the air conditioner was useless. Well news flash. You don't need air conditioning when it's cold outside.We went there for a very special occasion and it was a complete bust.The one positive was our server was fabulous ."

The food was good but the prime ribs and steaks were not very flavourful, in part because they were more well done than what we had ordered. The server's friendliness seemed forced and not genuine at all, but we're easy going people and left a good tip anyway."

He made great suggestions and when I asked if he could see where to purchase Grapefruit Bitters he went one step further and sold me a bottle as the bar staff was unsure was to where I could purchase. Great food and a new found patio to go with the great service. Thank you for an awesome evening!"

  • "We came to the Chop to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised that we can make easy reservations online. The hostess asked us what our occasion was and was quick to seat us. Our waiter Keith was very friendly and courteous and also congratulated us on our anniversary. He took our orders and the appetizer came promptly with timely refills of the crostini! Our entrees were done to perfection and were very tasty. Keith was also very prompt with refilling our glasses and he offered us a complimentary dessert due to the occasion. Overall, I would highly recommend is restaurant to anyone who wants a classy evening out at a quality restaurant."

  • "We were expecting a fine dining experience, however the steak was tough and under cooked. I like my steak Chicago medium, I got barely browned and just past blue rare. My husband ordered the ravioli, portion may have been enough for a child but without appetizers it definetly was not enough for an adult. The waiters and hostesses were very friendly and attentive. My recommendation for fine dining is go to THE KEG."

My friends chicken although stuffed was dry and White Sangria very sweet. Probably not heading back anytime soon."

But this time around it must have been an off day. 3 out of 4 orders were screwed up, a few times we had to get up and go look for server as she was no where to be found. When the last meal came (and rest were almost done) manager said it's on the house. Figured that would have been whole table, no was just the meal. Very bad experience."
