Diner Reviews
  • "Beef is the feature at the chop house. They have chicken, fish and pork but I go for the beef. (Admittedly, my wife will sometimes order the pork). We were with another couple and they ordered the tomahawk, a large (36 oz) bone in ribeye. My wife and I had the filet medallions oscar. All were excellent and cooked to perfection. We had an excellent server who also helped with the wine selection and appetizers. (Actually steered us away from one of the appetizers which she noted sounded better than it tasted. We were very thankful. She said it was the only thing on the menu that she did not recommend. I think it was the stuffed dates.) They have wines in all price ranges. Ours was reasonable and excellent."

  • "The food and service at the Chop House were excellent. We shared a porterhouse and a couple of sides. The server even told us that we could share the steak with him bringing an extra plate or let the kitchen split it for an extra charge."

  • "We went too Chop House to celebrate. I checked out the space - beautiful - and the menu featured Chateaubriand for two so I made the reservation expecting a special night. Our main course was delivered as we were having our salad. The server took it back and of course it was not warm when it was served. The chateaubriand was delicious even if cold but the potatoes were pretty much ruined. We ordered cappuccino with dessert which was never ordered by our server. We told him to forget it and just took the check. He told us the cappuccino wasn't very good anyway as if he was doing us a favor. Drinks were good and the place is lovely but food and service left a lot to be desired."

  • "The Chop House is an all around first-class restaurant. There is a great variety of types of foods, and food combinations. Another plus is that you can choose from different size portions. We arrived after a show, and so it was late. After our food was served, the chef waited around for us to try it to make sure everything was to our liking. Of course, it was perfect! Our server, Linda, was very knowledgeable about the menu, made great suggestions, was extremely friendly to boot. If you want a truly memorable experience, the Chop House should be your number one choice."

  • "I could not believe the low quality of the dishes served here, epecially considering their prices. Table of 6 ordered the same salads; all were inconsistent. Some plated different and with different quanitities of ingredients. My escargot appetizer was the best tasting dish of the meal. The side of asparagus was soggy. Most importantly - that dry, tasteless steak. I have had steak everywhere from $200 a plate to the kind of place you throw peanuts on the ground. This steak is definitely at the bottom of the list as far as taste and preparation. Also, there must not have been enough servers for all of the guests. Our server seemed very hurried (with a bit of an atttitude) and let several of our drinks go empty several times."

  • "We were celebrating a birthday and were very pleased at the quality of the food and the excellent service. Our waiter made sure that our birthday dinner was a special treat."

  • "Had eaten at Chop House several years ago and had a good experience. Hadn't gone back for a while because of reviews but then heard it was back. Took a buddy there for steak and that's what we got, Shared the chateaubriand for two which comes with a salad for each diner and a choice of two side. We chose the green beans almondine and lobster Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was alright but I could tell the lobster had been frozen although I wouldn't expect them to be putting the best in a side. The chateaubriand was cooked perfectly and the sauce bernaise had a excellent flavor. All and all I would recommend this for high quality we'll prepare steak. The waitress Casey was very sweet and knowledgable regarding the menu."

  • "The filet mignon was great but the T-bone was overcooked and still had a lot of fat. Creamed Spinach is to die for. Drink orders came out wrong and then wrong again. Service was slow and flat with the waiter not asking if food tasted all right and not questioning why so much was left on our plates. This is an expensive place to dine."

  • "The service here is always stellar. Our waiter--the 2nd time we've had him--was a top-notch professional who obviously takes pride in his work. The food here is generally excellent. And if you are a non-steak-eater, you will be thrilled with the quality of your meal (and menu variety). If you are a steak Aficionado, however, you will be satisfied...but I suspect you will find your cut of beef just slightly below top-tier steakhouse quality. It's difficult to articulate the (very) slight beef-deficit, but it is noticeable to one who has eaten at some of the best steakhouses. NEVERTHELESS, I very much recommend this place. And I recommend it particularly for families/groups/couples that are a mix of beef-eaters and non-beef-eaters."

  • "Years ago we stumbled on to this restaurant on our way back from a horse show. We weren't dressed up just hungry and with two little girls in tow. The staff was very accommodating and friendly and the food was excellent. We remembered our first experience at The Chop House fondly and now that our girls are grown adults, we continue to enjoy not only the ambience but also the superb meals every time we visit."

  • "The filet mignon melted in your mouth filled with flavor. Look no further for a great steak restaurant in Palm Springs because you will only be comparing them to the Chop House. They deserves a 5 star rating."

  • "The food was good but the service took a long time. One example was when we finished our dinner and waited half an hour for the server to come back to ask if we wanted desert. By the time he came back it was check only. You will be hungry so make sure to bring a lunch or order appetizers. Thankfully we ordered appetizers and were ok."

  • "This was our second attempt to get into the Chop House. New Year's eve was not successful so we thought we would give it another try. Glad we did, the prime rib melted in my mouth and the specials were incedible and the price paid was well worth the wait, the ambiance, and Mark our waiter was excellent! WE will be back!"

  • "Recently we visited the Chop House on a Saturday evening and was a very enjoyable time. We were seated right away and our waiter came immediately and took our order for cocktails. After making our food selections, our waiter opened our bottle of wine that we brought (sm fee) with us. Our meal came in less time than expected and was very good. Since our experience was very nice we will frequent this restaurant in the future."

  • "I have dined with friends and family at The Chop House many times over the years, but I will not be going back. This is due not to just one lapse in quality but an apparent management decision to increase margins by reducing food quality while jacking up prices. The menu is now much smaller; so are the steaks (my "10 oz NY" was about 6 oz, it wasn't prime, and it lacked that tangy flavor you get in a well-aged steak). Sides were decidedly pedestrian. Meanwhile, the prices have risen to Ruth's Chris territory. You'll do much better at Ruth's."

  • "1st accept my apologies fro not remembering our waiter's name (mid-30's, dark hair w/glasses...oh, 5'8" or so.has worked with photographers)..... hope that helps. Our table was in the corner, outside. Our dinner was great, the food was super -- but above all that made this Birthday dinner special was our waiter's friendly and very relaxed manner.. He was excellent - and in all honesty made the nite for us. we'll most likely be matching future service to his. Thank you a million. judi grissmeyer & dwayne whitfield"

  • "Delicious steaks! I had the ribeye and my husband had the Steak Oscar. While they give you a steak knife you could almost cut it with a fork. Very tender and cooked perfectly. Our server was Anthony. He was attentive without being intrusive. Whenever we needed anything he was right there. Our only complaint was the table next to us - loud and somewhat rude, but that is not the restaurant's fault. Will definitely go there many more times."

  • "We were a little early arriving but were shown directly to our table. Our server, Mark, was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful with the menu. The food was excellent. We had the surf and turf special which was delicious. The chocolate covered strawberries after our dessert was a nice touch. We did not feel rushed and very much enjoyed our Valentine dinner. Definitely a highlight of our visit to Palm Springs."

  • "we were there for Valentine's Day we would see you very promptly a big boot so far so good then we realize that we were seated in the back room not even back ground music playing! for Valentine's you expect something kind of romantic!! my server very sweet and attentive the only thing I have to say is that she was not very knowledgeable about wine!which it wasn't a big deal! we still got to enjoy the bottle of wine we brought of (George de Latour)and the company of my beautiful wife!!"

  • "Not only was the food absolutely mouthwatering but Andrew was so wonderful to us we enjoyed every minute. We came on a quieter night and felt the romance throughout our dinner. We will definitely be visiting next time we are in town. Thank you for a memorable evening with my husband, one we will not forget!"

  • "There was an 8,000 participant bike ride in the morning and the city had closed Palm Canyon. We were 15 minutes late and the restaurant said that we were "no shows". They offered to give us a table in 30 minutes or sit on the outside patio. We chose the patio right near the entrance. The food was very good, but very pricey. There wine list was also good, but very expensive. Our server was personable, but seemed very busy and we had long waits between visits, beverage delivery, order taking, food delivery. While waiting to be seated, a large party came in and the hostess quoted them 45 minutes. After money exchanged hands, it was 20 minutes. While being led to our patio table, I saw 3 or 4 empty tables that could accomodate both of us!"

  • "Can't go wrong with the Chop House! Shared the chateaubriand with the hubs and it was tender & flavorful. Service was friendly and He loved the Brussels sprouts, I don't happen to enjoy them but the Au gratin potatoes were great, cheesy without being greasy. Service was friendly & efficient."

  • "Waited ten minutes for waiter to appear. Drinks were bad pours over tons of ice. Porterhouse steak was 1/2 inch thick and tasteless and they wanted $60. Place was also dead with no buzz. Forget thus tourist trap!"

  • "My filet was delicious, tender and cooked to perfection, w/ a delicious peppercorn sauce, exactly what I'd expect from a steakhouse. The sides (spinach too creamy, and au gratin too crusty) were disappointing. Service was superb. It was a lovely evening in a warm and welcoming atmosphere."

  • "The restaurant is beautiful, very romantic but not stuffy. My husband and I had Mark as our waiter. Mark was very good at explaining the ins and outs of the menu, very friendly and engaging. The food was FANTASTIC!!! My NY strip and my husband's Rib-eye were done wonderfully, sides of creamed spinach and grilled asparagus complimented the steaks beautifully. We will be going again when we visit Palm Springs!!"
