"It's been around a long time, comfortable, lots of dark woods, ask for a booth. When crowded, the noise level can be uncomfortable in the middle of the room, ask for the back room on weekends for conversation levels. Steaks are outstanding, perfectly prepared prime beef. My husband swears by their fish preparation, so everyone will be happy.The au gratin potatoes are too cheesy for me."

"We didn't know what to expect and we were so pleasantly surprised! Later in the week we had the opportunity to try another steakhouse in downtown Palm Springs, food at the Chop House was FAR superior and service didn't feel rushed or snooty. Nice little find! Next year when we return to Palm Desert we will definitely return!"

"The spot where we were sitting was very cold and we had to ask a couple of times to fix the air conditioning. We did not care for our house salads. The bread was good but when they brought the butter it was just presented like a half a cube on the plate. My daughter said it looked like the cube she had left over after baking cookies. Very blah looking. My husband really enjoyed his steak. My daughter did not care for her fish. The cheesecake tasted different, different texture. Our waiter had an accent and when we tried to engage him in conversation he just wouldn't no matter how hard we tried. We thought he had an English accent and our guest was from England so we tried to find out more but he just went about his business."

"I was looking forward to our dinner at the Palm Desert Chop House. Unfortunately, two of us had to send their meat back. I had requested med/med well, the filet was rare. The other person requested med. but the prime rib was rare, also. We were told that med was pink.The server was very good and tried to meet our needs. I believe that the chef either needs to change the information given to the server, regarding the doneness of meat entrees, or learn how to prepare the food as ordered.I was celebrating my birthday and I was disappointed with the chef.I have had filet oscar several times before and it was perfect. Perhaps the chef has changed."

"Excellent chateaubriand, good wine selection, very friendly and attentive service in a pleasant atmosphere. A nice "local" steakhouse, and a welcome change from the El Paseo Drive options in Palm Desert."
