  • "It was a cool evening and we were sitting on the porch. They still were able to make the area comfortable. We had a reservation and although we were not seated immediately, we were able to sit at the bar and order a drink ( the drinks were good) which was fine. Sanibel is a very fun place and this restaurant fits right in.It is not a special place but more than adequate for a nice evening."

  • "Best steak on Sanibel. The rib eye was perfectly seasoned and cooked to exact awareness. Veggies were crisp and brightly colored. The sauteed red cabbage was unusual and just sweet enough to compliment the savory meal. The moderately priced Malbec was rich but light enough to refresh the palate. The key l ime pie was totally worth the calories. Fish lovers raved about their meals as well."

  • "This was our most expensive meal on Sanibel. Even though the food was very good the prices are on the way top end of the scale. The staff was very polite and prompt with anything that was asked for. I think there are better places on the island for far less money. Our meal at Jacaranda on Periwinkle was as good if not better with great service and at half the price. The interior is very dark and the place is in need of some upgrading. Overall though we had a wonderful time at dinner."

  • "My father said he was craving steak and was tired of eating seafood after being on the island for the past few months. I noticed the restaurant one day as I was out on my bicycle -during our week long visit to the island. I mentioned it to my Father, so we decided to try the restaurant....It was an excellent experience! Our meals were delicious! Service was fantastic! We are now back home in MO, but my father is still there and we left him with a gift card to return for one more steak dinner before he leaves the island for the summer!"

  • "tables too close together, on long banquette, made conversation hard. The room was over dark which with the furnishings gave a sombre feel. a sharing plate of stone crab had been cooked and then warmed up so was overdone. my wifes sea bass came on a huge plate filled with risotto and vegetables.... not attractive .... my wagyu steak was properly cooked pittsburgh style .... but so it should be at $44+ ... our most expensive meal by far in Sanibel and not a patch on Il Cielo. There is tradition and living in the past. very disappointed"

  • "Chips had strong ratings, so we made a reservation and went. Something seemed off kilter from the moment we walked in. Our teenage daughter (who probably watches too much TV) suggested that the restaurant apply to be on Restaurant Impossible. Staff seemed off their game. Ordered appetizers and salads, but my daughter's appetizer was no where to be found. Server said the kitchen lost the slip. My husband's steak was grizzly and impossible to cut. My salmon was tasteless and served with some weird things like spiced cabbage, mushy mushroom risotto and the little carrots that come out of a bag at the grocery store. We got out of there as fast as we could and would never return."

  • "We thought the food was very good. Steak was tender and delicious. I had the prime rib- medium size-and it was cooked beautifully and very tasty. The veggies were terrific. Ample portions and nice presentation. We went on a Saturday night and found that the wait staff was overwhelmed but pleasant just the same. Our side order of creamed spinach never arrived and staff had no idea of who ordered which meal. "Who gets the chicken?" A large party's boisterous conversation dominated the area. No one's fault but, it took away from our evening's enjoyment. On the whole, I would return on a weekday night to savor the fine cuisine.."

The appetizers were fabulous with lots of layered flavors and the entrees followed suit with lots of great flavor combos. The only detractor was an extremely loud table that the staff did not even approach to ask them to keep their celebration at a more reasonable noise level."

  • "we had reservations at 9 and we were going to be seated right at the door party of two but we declined that horrible table to sit at the bar until something better opened up, could only get a table in the bar area as the back was apparently for special guest or regulars? Hostess was WONDERFUL very pleasant and nice and drinks were outstanding I tried many different kinds and they were all made to perfection. Food was a decent portion and great tasting highly recommend for food. prices were good we really enjoyed ourselves."

  • "Jackie, our server, could not have been more fun with our foursome on February 13, when we celebrated Valentines a day early. At 5:30, we had her full attention and she was delightful. In all my dining experiences, I have never met a more delightful server than her. The Sanibel Steakhouse is lucky to have her. The food was delicious. The portions were generous. We ended up taking our dessert home to enjoy later. The appetizers and entree choices were many and it was tough to choose. We will be back before we have to venture back to Michigan this spring."

  • "we reserved via Open Table a month prior to get our group of four in to Chip's. Through most of our stay, the resturant was about 60% full (it was 6:30 PM). The service was great as were the dinners. Only thing we did not like was our table which was right at the entrance. We asked for another table, noting the many open tables and were denied. Think "Open Table" customers get less valued seating."

  • "This was our second trip back to Sanibel. This time, we brought another couple with us. We couldn't wait to go back here for dinner and we are so glad that we did.   • "After a beautiful short drive from Fort Myers, we arrived a few minutes early but were seated right away. The crab cake appetizer and crab bisque were excellent. Not a huge fan of either sourdough bread or pumpernickel, but alas, those were the only breads served. The Kobe beef was to die for and the Chilean Sea Bass was very good as well. A little pricey for a normal night out, but the quality is better than you'd expect so you get what you pay for. I will definitely come back."

  • "This is a hidden island gem. The appearance may be a little dated, but the food, drinks & service are fabulous. The cocktails were generously poured and perfectly crafted. We had the oysters - raw & rockefeller - fresh & delicious. The rib eye had great marbling & was cooked to perfection. All of the sides were equally as good. If you like blue cheese, get the maytag mashed. The desserts were just as good - couldn't finish because we were so full. The quality of the meat combined with the delicious drinks, appetizers, sides make this a must see steakhouse."

  • "I ordered the Wagyu New York strip. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I also got the garlic mashed potatoes and the veggies. They were also amazing. My wife ordered the 10 oz filet mignon which was also cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Wagyu New York Stip was $54 and the filet mignon was $39. Those prices may seem high, but the quality of the food we got was amazing. If you compare the prices to a "fancy" big chain steak house, they are priced really well. Most of the big chain steak houses charge what we paid for just the steak and we got sides with our food as well. Chip's Sanibel Strakhouse will be a must stop every time we are in Sanibel."

  • "Our dinner was a celebration on our last night on Sanibel before heading back to snow and ice. We both wanted a really good steak and we weren't disappointed. The meat was excellent, and cooked to perfection. Servings were large. The ambience was lovely - table cloths and candlelight. Service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant is small and intimate and the noise level was low. We will return often in the future."

  • "a cozy setting for a good meal. warm friendly reception. comfortable bench seating including a pillow with a comfy chair across from the bench. We tired the PRI FIX meal at a bargain $35.00 each. this includes a cocktail, wine or beer. There is a wide choice of appetizers. We choose the Jumbo Shrimp cocktail and I had the lobster bisque, Both were really a great value. 4 shrimp so big it was a surprising. The bisque is creamy and rich.. My husband had selected the NY strip Steak tender and tasty. I had the filet for an extra charge. It melted like butter bursting with flavor. The vegetables were fresh and crisp."

The Tomato Mozzarella salad had a delicious balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Service, by Nancy was terrific. This was by far the best restaurant we have found in Sanibel . Would highly recommend."

  • "Well our server was amazing as are most of them except one female that starts with a J. Our food was so so and the prime rib decent but nothing over the top. They do have a decent wine selection, but only if they actually have it. The manager is an arrogant and rude person. From speaking to others many people agree! We are locals part of the year, but will not return again. Sorry Chip!"
