A word from Chino Chinatown at Trinity Groves
Chino Chinatown menu is the transformation of traditional Asian dishes with a Latin American twist. The spirits menu is motivated by the new cocktail movement and classic hand-crafted drinks.

The cuisine is inspired by Chinese immigrants that came to South America from the southern province of Guangdong and Macau in the late 19th century. Due to lack of Asian ingredients, the Chinese adapted their cuisine with items available in the area creating unique blends of Chinese cooking with Latin ingredients. They established “barrio Chinos” which translates to “Chinatown” in Latin American cities. Chino will transport people to this era of mystery and adventure.

I'm a HUGE fan of Trinity Groves. I've tried (almost) all of the restaurants there. Chino didn't surprise me. Great food and great service! We were greeted by a friendly host, and taken to our outside table. Waiter immediately greeted us, and suggested great drinks and food options (I recommend the Duck Fat Fried Rice!) Food is meant to be shared, and the portions reflected so. For a party of 3, we had: 1- Duck Fat Fried Rice 1- Ahi Tuna Nachos (6 to an order) 1- Chicken Lollipops (6 to an order)- and Highly recommended by the staff. overall a great experience. We will be back!

We had a reservation for 10. When we get there our table isn't ready and we're told we have to wait another 10-15 minutes. It's disappointing. We sit at the bar to wait. The bar is busy but there are 2 bartenders . After 10 minutes bartender takes our cocktail orders. 5 minutes later, he has a shift change so he won't be making our drinks. FINALLY, minutes pass and new bartender makes our drinks. So now we're about 25 minutes and we just got drinks and still no table. 10 minutes after getting drinks our table is finally ready. Waiter takes order and never shows back up. We get a new waiter that is confused and doesn't know what we ordered. We have to order again. Dishes are mixed up with other tables. Food is mediocre. Dissapointed.

An attempt at fusion but more like "lets see what I can come up with - oh I have hot sauce and soy sauce - that will work" but it was unimpressive. Barely Asian, oddly Latin - I was confused. Some entree portions would leave many hungry. I got bored with my big bowl of rice called pho. Who picks up corn on the cob pieces from a bowl of broth while dressed up and going back to work? Pluses: Ingredients seem fresh, food presented well. Nice outdoor seating but true for the whole string of restaurants there.

I visited Chino the first week it was open and thought it was one of the best restaurants I had ever been to. I had the drunken noodles and thought they were amazing. I visited it this week for the 2nd time, about 6 months later. The food was still good, but lacked the "wow" factor that the restaurant had upon opening. My feedback to my waiter (who was good) would be to make sure to communicate that there is egg on the drunken noodles (not listed on menu, and I asked what was on it - only veggies were mentioned) because that would have definitely prompted me to make alterations to my meal.

Trinity groves is a really nice area but it gets packed and noisy on the weekends. Chino is a great concept, the food is amazing and I would definitely recommend it. Our server however, was terrible, took a while before he even stopped by the table the hostess came by to make sure we were ok before he did. We were done with our appetizers before he came to take our orders and we waited 30mins from the time we paid till we got our change... do not go here if you have plans to be somewhere else after dinner...

I was specially surprised that after I made my reservation with open table, I got a call from the restaurant confirming my reservation. Food was fine, not outstanding or so amazing that I need to go back. I didn't go in with high expectations. . . - Duck Fat Fries - Our favorite thing that we ordered. Yucca can be stringy, but these fries were great -- I think it was pureed yucca that was formed and then fried. - Steam Buns - fine, like the buns I've had everywhere else - YellowTail Hamachi - fine, nothing amazing about it - Duck Fat Fried Rice - fine, nothing to write home about - Drunken Noodles - The noodles didn't seem to take on the flavor of the rest of the dish. I've had similar dishes that were better at most Thai restaurants.

This was first time for dinner here and it was very good but candied peanuts were left out of my Drunken Noodles and I had terrible acid reflux afterwards and all during the night...like it might have had MSG in it or overly flavored with garlic. Won't order it again. My fiancé had the Duck Fat Fried Rice and it was very good...probably order that the next time.

We dined at Chino Chinatown on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was not too busy or noisy. There were 7 of us and we sat at a round table and enjoyed the conversation across the table. One of our diners was in a wheelchair and had no problem getting in the restaurant or rolling up to the table. The food was delicious. We loved the Drunken Noodles and the special of the night Sea Bass. Highly recommend a visit to this restaurant.

The concept of chinese food with latin infusion is unique and great, however, the execution was not well done. Edamame was great; ceviche was disappointing; duck fat fried rice and chicken lollipops were fair to disappointing, depending on whether you ask my girlfriend or me. Service was just okay. The mural was really nice. Other restaurants in the area offer a better dining experience.

I see where they're trying to go with this concept, and I want to be supportive of it. I'm just not sure they know what THEY want to be. The ambiance was fine, although the lights were too bright and that killed the mood a little. For the food, we found it difficult to find things we liked on the menu, and that's always frustrating. It is very difficult to tell which plates have large portions and which have small ones -- it would be good if they came up with a menu device to clarify that. Their concept is family servings, so you can share big plates. That's cool, but on the other hand each plate is so huge that it limits the opportunity to order various things, to try different things. Wait staff was too goth. That was a turnoff.

I am so disappointed with Chino Chinatown. The food was, at best, uninspired. At worst it was a mediocre ripoff. We tried the steamed buns, Duck Fat Fried Rice, and the beef short ribs. The buns were REALLY a greasy hunk of pulled pork in a dry, stale bun with random pickled veggies and cilantro. The pork was tasty, but that was all that we tasted. The (in)famous Duck Fat Fried Rice was really wet and mushy. The short ribs were two moderate sized short ribs bookending a pile of cabbage and assorted veggies. The rib my wife had was dry and, subsequently, chewy. Mine was more juicy and tender but both were average in terms of flavor. I was really expecting more from this place. My recommendation is to pass.

Hosted a birthday party of 8 here for my partner and we all enjoyed the food but the service was absolutely horrible. We we commented on the seriously undercooked chicken - the manager told us it was "supposed to be that way". We waited 30 plus minutes for drink refills and finally went and found our own water pitchers. Asked how our dining experience was, we were honest with the manager and we told "it was hectic tonight". No apologies, no try us again, nothing. Great concept, very good food - but would not return due to service and management issues.

This was my 4th visit to the fabulous Chino Chinatown, and it continued to impress. We expanded a bit from our previous standbys, and found some new favorites. Not to miss: Elotes - Order these, then tell your friends that they contain meat, nuts, strontium -- whatever it takes to get them to yourself Duck Fat Fried Rice with Duck Breast - Before the breast was added, this was great. Now it's ludicrously good. However, the cast iron dish means that stealing it from the table next to you will result in severe burns... and a nice snack in the ambulance. The Duck Fat Fries are great, too Drunken Noodles - One of my favorite dishes, though I prefer the shrimp to the ribs. Though either is spectacular Piña Colada Upside Down Cake - Love it!
