A word from Chino Chinatown at Trinity Groves
Chino Chinatown menu is the transformation of traditional Asian dishes with a Latin American twist. The spirits menu is motivated by the new cocktail movement and classic hand-crafted drinks.

The cuisine is inspired by Chinese immigrants that came to South America from the southern province of Guangdong and Macau in the late 19th century. Due to lack of Asian ingredients, the Chinese adapted their cuisine with items available in the area creating unique blends of Chinese cooking with Latin ingredients. They established “barrio Chinos” which translates to “Chinatown” in Latin American cities. Chino will transport people to this era of mystery and adventure.

  • "Such a great place. Chino Chinatown has food that is as unique and wonderful as its creator. The restaurant has a great bar with items you are not likely to find anywhere else in town. The decor just sets the right mood and the patio is just awesome to hang out on."

  • "The food was fantastic. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. The cocktails were excellent. I can't wait to go back."

  • "Thursday night before 4th of July. They are moderately busy, but acted like they were slammed. The food is great and for a tapas style menu, you get nice portions. However, once your food comes out, you are attacked by flies.... and we were at a corner booth in the back. The service was OK. We were missing utensils throughout the meal service & requests for some lemon & spoons took a long time."

  • "Shared plates gave us a chance to taste many dishes. Loved the French Toast."

  • "I would definitely go back there but with a slightly different game plan. I wanted to take my time and enjoy the food and company but the food just came out WAY too quickly. I probably shouldn't complain about how fast the food comes out but the appetizers and our entrees came out all at once and we had to stuff ourselves quickly so that the cold food doesn't get warm and hot food doesn't get cold. Felt like the kitchen and waiter could've put in the order a little differently so that we could enjoy the food at a slightly slower pace. The only complaint."

  • "Enjoyed the variety and unique dishes not found in a traditional Chinese restaurant. Food was excellent, especially the chicken lollipops, duck fat fried rice and short rib noodles. Piña colada cake was delish! Would have given five stars but it is so loud you almost have to yell your conversation."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner at Chino Chinatown. Interesting food and wonderful service. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and offered suggestions which really helped us in our choices. Ahi Tuna Nacho's were a great appetizer. Crisp and flavorful. Duck Fat Fried Rice with Duck was enough to share. We loved it and will get it again. And we finished with Lobster shooters which were spicy and a interesting. We will definitely be back. A great place to go with friends."

  • "Drunken noodles and bento bowls are a comfort, but on-trend enough to impress clients. Yummy!"

  • "There were so many flies that it was disturbing to constantly swat them away from ourselves and off of the food. Although our server was nice, the service was scattered, not attentive and generally not good. The short ribs were tough and dry instead of tender and succulent, although the sauce was pretty good. The ramen soup was bland, as were the duck fat fries which were not duck fatty tasting at all. The wine and beer were not cold. The edamame were the only yummy item and that's definitely not enough to bring us back."

  • "The food and ambience was excellent. We had a group of 5 and loved everything that we had. The chicken lollipops were amazing. Short Rib Drunken Noodles and Ahi Tuna Nachos were great as well. The experience was almost ruined by the swarm of flies that we were constantly swatting away. We were sitting inside so I was a bit surprised that they were such a problem. Apparently this has been an on-going problem due to the Trinity River location. Our waiter said that the flies go away after about 8:00pm. I hope it is true because I would love to go back if I knew the flies would not be there."

  • "I was really looking forward to their well advertised dim sum brunch menu but once we got there they said it was no longer available. I specifically asked when they called to confirm the reservation and it was still supposed to be offered. Not only the food part but the brunch drinks weren't available either, very disappointing."

  • "Not sure what I expected but this was different. The Ahi nachos came with ketchup drizzle (which was not stated on menu) waiter tried to argue that they were right yet they still removed them from bill which was nice. Duck Fat Fried Rice is amazing! Especially when you add the duck breast to it. I would come back for that."

  • "Food was awesome. Don't done outside unless under the covered patio, flies and bugs everywhere! Constantly swatting at bugs or covering food. Very annoying and ruined the ambiance. "

  • "Great mix of asian dishes. Plates are meant for sharing with those at the table giving everyone a chance to sample the tastes of each dish. "

  • "The food was great, the service was great but I could have made a meal out of just the Chicken Lollipop, delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes and they were all delicious, the Chicken Lollipops were ordered again on every round. And, we were talking about pisco sours with the owner and lo and behold we had a round on our table moments later. A trip to Chino makes for a great evening."

  • "Pathetic service, just ok food. Our waiter, Luis was disinterested and poorly trained. Very disappointing. Will never go back. Also, don't order a Martini. it is served in a silly little glass. This place should worry less about being "hip" and more about food, drinks, and service."

  • "First time trying the place. Went on a thursday so it was not busy. There was just 2 of us so we split 3 items which were all great and that was enough. The service was fantastic!! our waiter, really knowledgeable, friendly. The atmosphere was laid back and it was a cool place. The only thing that started to bother me was the flies. We sat inside but because the door to the patio kept being opened, then left opened the flies were circling our food...it was sitting outside but othere then that i for sure recommend this place...check it people"

  • "Fabulous, energetic, buzzing atmosphere with friendly staff at every turn. Every (and I mean 'every') dish I've tried has been enjoyable. The menu isn't haughty or alienating. It just offers fresh ingredients served in familiar (to a point) ways made with the utmost skill. This is doing it, doing it, doing it well. The market fish was the show stopper. Chilean sea bass yes please! Best cocktails to hit the lips. "

  • "My girlfriend was in town from Missouri and I wanted her to experience Chino Chinatown, where the food and service is always consistently great. We sat on the patio, which was just fabulous in May, ordered the staples and ate family style: chicken lollipops, duck fat fries, flat iron steak banh mi, edamame, drunken noodles, short ribs and last but not least, lobster shooters. There were 4 of us and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the variety and flavor of the food. For the cocktails, we had two bottles of the snake charmer, which was a great fun cocktail for girls night out. Our server, Liz was engaging & friendly & offered great recommendations. Chef Uno also stopped by to say hello. Overall, an incredible evening of friends and food! "

  • "While it was nice to have the garage door open on a windy evening, the flies were out of control... to the point where we stopped eating because they had landed on our food so many times... Outside should be outside and inside with AC. "

  • "While the food we ate was very good, the service was off in a weird way. We ordered drinks, but by the time they came the appetizers were already out. This would have been less of a thing, except that some of the food wasn't very hot. One thinks that if they hadn't been is such a rush to serve the food, it could have been hotter? But I will go back, the drunken noodles were fabulous!! "

  • "Chino Chinatown was yummy fun, from drinks to dessert! The drunken noodles are a MUST for noodle lovers like myself and that braised short rib is dreamy. As a side note, it is a great place to take a friend who must eat gluten-free for health reasons. The fried rice was a big hit with him!"

  • "Honestly, I should have never brought my mother to this restaurant. We would have had a better dining experience at Outback Steakhouse. We waited a long time to be seated, and there was not enough staff working to wait on inside tables. Several other diners were looking around waiting for some one to take their order. There were several dirty tables that needed to be bused, which was not attractive. Also there were several flies swarming around us due to the patio doors opening and closing, and the dirty tables nearby. My son & I shared the chicken lollipops & Duck Fat Fried Rice. The food was ok not great, and overpriced for what it really was. The fried rice is $16, and a rice dish should be FREAKIN AWESOME for that price."

  • "I booked this reservation because of the great patio and outdoor seating options. It has also generated lots of buzz lately for the food. We started with the Duck Fat fries with siracha ketchup, very good. The ahi tuna nachos were just okay, although my husband liked them better than me. We both agreed that the chicken lollipops were AMAZING and were sticking our fingers into the sauce on the plate - it was that good. Would love to go back and try the steamed buns, drunk noodles and pina colada cake next time. Go early, grab a drink on the patio, have a leisurely dinner and bring friends so you can order several dishes to share. "

  • "First time at this part of Trinity Groves. Had such a great experience that I took some friends back the following weekend. The drinks, atmosphere, food and service were fantastic. We went on a Tuesday after work so it was not crowded. The food was superb! The chef came out to our table to say 'hi' and introduce herself. This small gesture made our dining experience from fantastic to super fantastic."

  • "The food was wonderful!! The service was meh. We were not impressed with the service, it was actually horrible. We will be back though because the food was delicious and there are many more dishes to try! The duck fat fries were great! "

  • "Amazing food but really bad service. Our waiter -- Jeff -- was just not very attentive. He forgot to put in a couple of items from our order and never came back around to even check on us to see if we got everything. We put an additional order and he forgot to put that one in as well. I was so disappointed because this restaurant had been hyped up to me for a while now and I had been waiting until I was back in Dallas to try it. I do not want to take anything away from the food though -- it was delicious! Chicken Lollipops, Duck Fat Fried Rice, and Elotes were everyone's fav! Please try to make the service better!!!"

  • "My top two favorite items on the menu are: chicken lollipops (wings) not spicy but full of flavor and coated with candied peanuts and duck fat fried rice. Other items like the steam buns and duck fat fries are good as well. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "My girlfriends and I decided to try this new place on a random Thursday evening. I made a reservation and was the first to arrive and was immediately seated. After 15 minutes of waiting and wondering where my friends were, we found out they'd sat us at two different tables! I wasn't once approached by anyone or offered a glass of water while I say at the table by myself. Once we all got together, we had to flag someone down another 15 minutes later to take our drink orders, and the waiter said he wasn't assigned to our table. The food was amazing overall, the cocktail menu was very strange with all kinds of unrecognizable drinks, and more expensive wine. Great ambiance, but the poor service soured the experience."

  • "Most of the food here (duck fat fried rice, buns with meat, etc.) is superb. Trying three or four share or small plates makes a lot of sense because the flavors run the gamut. The problem here is from an experience and atmosphere standpoint, this really is just one half step up from a Pei Wei. Young cure thing saunters you toward a poor table then says yea it's OK if you take another one. Server delivers beverages to the wrong people. Loud blondes screech at each other nearby while the baby in the bassinette wails. Yes this is a restaurant laboratory. But it also comes with entrees in the $18-28 range and it needs to feel more polished and professional than an airport lounge restaurant. Except for the food quality it doesn't alas."

  • "The food was freshly prepared and tasty, albeit a bit over-priced. The patio is the main draw, and the fact that it sits in the new Trinity Groves, giving ample chance to have appetizers and drinks at one restaurant, dinner at another, and finish off with dessert and after-dinner drinks at yet another. Several gluten-free options on menu, including one dessert which was a moist chocolate cake served with a scoop of delicious coconut ice cream. Service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive."

  • "Except for the waiter who thought he didn't need to write down our order, excellent night. Food was delicious, menu was creative and the food Expeditors made up for the waiters mistakes. Highly recomend and go there with the idea to share everything with your friends."

  • "Unique concept. Interesting mixture of food with an Asian flare. Slightly expensive for the amount of food. Foodies may like the concept because of the different food combinations."

  • "Interesting concept of a Mexican/Chinese fusion place. We had a variety of small plates and appetizers to share for 4 people. The food was ok, but a lot of the different dishes had very similar flavors accenting sweet and salt over robust different flavor combinations"

  • "I had recommended Chinos to business associates to celebrate a recent birthday for one of our executives. It was a Wednesday night, but you would have thought it was a Friday or Saturday. Huge happy hour crowd and the restaurant was alive with multiple group gatherings. The chef, Uno, was visiting the tables and engaging with the guests. Our server, Liz, was providing us with recommendations on food and drinks. Although some of the people in our group were fairly "non-adventurous" diners, all thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and fun atmosphere of the restaurants. The Chicken Lollipops were a favorite among all and the Snake Charmer cocktail was a hit. Thanks Chinos for making this occasion special!"

  • "I love this place and am happy to see it doing so well. I have been twice and look forward to going back. Food is excellent and there is a nice variety to choose from. Open late! My only complaints: I saw the chef make a dessert on Eye Opener. This is why I went in the first place. However, I went to order the same chocolate dish, was told it was not available. WHAT? Dont advertise then not have it available. They said it took to long to prepare Second, the waiter was nice, but not knowledgable about the food/alcohol/wine choices. He left the a few times to "go ask" At least he found out, but basic knowledge of the menu ??? I asked about a dish and was told that was a food that he did not eat so he didnt know if it was good or not."
