Wished the menu on opentable was the correct one! We picked this place based off of menus on opentable and when we got to the restaurant they did not have it! Food was good"

  • "The dinner was excellent - food was excellent and creative. Service was also excellent. The bread person was right on top of it - keeping our bread plates filled. The person handling water kept our glasses filled. The waitress checked on us several times. Service was truly excellent. Will definitely go back."

  • "We had the BEST pasta dishes we have had in LONG time! Just delicious and wine great also. Perfect amount of food as well. we had the Burrata Cheese to start, then the arugula squid salad and the carrot olive salad and each had a 1/2 portion of two pastas Mine was a baked one with bechamel, tomato sauce and veal sausage which was the best!! Both which were fabulous."

  • "One of many fine choices in Downtown Cleveland's growing restaurant menu. Excellent service: drink order immediately taken; bread served; appetizer ordered and served; entrees followed. Good pacing and attentive water refills, etc. Non-traditional antipasti should be described on menu, but delicious combo. Seafood cannelloni of in house shells and homemade ricotta plus seafood exceptional. Spaghetti fra diavolo with squid, calamari, and octopus unusual and delicious. Tiramisu a fine ending to meal. Window table nice, but might have preferred interior, quieter table."

  • "The food was good EXCEPT for the plastic wrap in our beef crudo! We brought this to the attention of our server who simply said that sometimes that sneaks in there. There was no offer to replace the dish and no reduction to our check. (We contacted Chinato regarding this on the "contact" section of their web site, but have not received a response.) The service was quite slow and not well-timed. It took way too long for our beverage order and it seemed like forever between when our dessert was served and the coffee finally made it to the table. We had much higher expectations based on Mr. Bruell's reputation."

  • "We had dinner at Chinato before a concert last Saturday evening. I have enjoyed their Happy Hour with friends, so my husband and I wanted to try it for dinner. You will NOT be disappointed. The staff are very pleasant, warm and well-trained, making service excellent. Our meals were very good. Our split Arugula Salad was fresh and peppy, my Blackened Cod was cooked perfectly and extremely well-flavored with the Roasted Tomato "Jam". My husband's burger was fantastic as well. Everything was very well-excecuted, from service to wine through the meal."

  • "Was fortunate to eat at Chinato the night they premiered their new menu. We started with the polenta with mushrooms and balsamic glaze - delicious. We then split the octopus salad which was also really good. Both entrees were terrific - I had the tongue with beans in broth, my friend the sea scallops. Service, as usual, was top notch. Will be back soon to try some of the other new items."

  • "We enjoyed our experience very much. Although it started out a little shaky. We had a reservation & arrived 5 mins. prior and the staff acted as if they did not have a table for us in spite of there appearing to be many empty tables. We were seated about 10 mins. later. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding. I had the scallops which were cooked to perfection and my wife had the veal ravioli which we thought was a very unique dish. She says it was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful and cheerfully answered any and all questions & made great suggestions. We will definitely be back"

  • "We went on a Thursday before a Cavs game and the staff was very helpful getting us in and out in a timely matter after we told them we were going to the game. The service was fine but not stellar - things like offering me another glass of wine before I was completely out and had to ask for another one would have helped. The food was fine but not overly flavorful (or at least not my particular dish, the gnocci). However, the ambiance was fantastic and for a group of four it's a great location to meet before walking over to the Q."

  • "This restaurant was great. There was total cohesion, from the food to the decor to the wine list. I would put Chinato on par with L'Albatros, Zach Bruell's other restaurant. The only thing I felt didn't go with the overall theme was the music. It was a little fast paced for the atmosphere the restaurant was trying to achieve. But this wasn't a huge deal - I was enjoying the food and company so much I barely noticed."

  • "From the hostess at the door to our server Luke to the conversations with the chef working the expo window, everyone was knowledgeable and friendly as well as seemingly passionate about their role in this organization. As a restaurant owner from south Florida as well as a businessman in other industries who recognizes and appreciates the 'details', Chinato met the mark. The food was creative, wonderfully flavored and plated in a way that was 'pleasing to the eyes'. The wine list offers something for everyone! When in town on business this restaurant is one of my true favorites. (Was there twice in 3 days this week) Hats of the Zack and your team! Job well done!!!"

  • "OVerall a very nice experience considering all aspects. Watch your entree choices if you prefer dishes that are not too rich in sauces, etc, for some feature dishes have abundant rich sauces, but there is something for everyone if you ask your waiter to describe the dishes that interest you. Ambiance is better closer to the windows facing E. 4th Street and not quite as good on the other side of the barrier towards the kitchen. Italian wine selection to match the theme is quite good."

  • "Let's start by saying that the staff were very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. So many wonderfully original items on the menu to order! The wine list was extensive with many choices by the glass and especially by the bottle. Our waitress helped me find items on the menu that were gluten-free or could be made that way - which were many - and they even had gluten-free bread! The pastas were offered in a choice of two sizes. I got the appetizer/smaller size pasta and it was more than enough. Our meals came out quickly, were served hot and tasted wonderful. Unfortunately, there was no room for dessert, but I will be returning since they have a few that are gluten-free and not your typical dessert options."

  • "This is the second time here and I'm not sure I will return. The first time, the service was excellent but the food was seasoned so heavily that I was constantly drinking water. Most recently, the food was much better but the hostess was impolite. My main complaint, however, is the seating. I don't think the tables could be smaller or closer together.   • "I was in from New York solo overnight on business, looking for a good Italian meal before the theater. A foodie friend recommended Chinato, and it proved an excellent choice with an extremely appealing menu. Antipasti -- I was torn between fried baby artichokes and suppli (araninci) -- were tasty, as were perfectly cooked and sauced pasta options. The manager learned via my OpenTable res that I was in town for only one night and had chosen to dine here; he went the extra mile and generously offered me a complimentary cheese tasting -- part of a new program. I can't say how hospitable a gesture like this is -- how well it speaks for restaurateur Zack Bruell and his sense of what a dining-out experience should be, but rarely is. I'll be back."

  • "The wine menu and cheese board were both very good, as was the crudo. The main pasta courses, however, were only marginally better than typical Olive Garden fare. The place simply holds too many people. Very loud and chaotic. The service was actually quite good, all things considered, but the food quality can't keep up, and it shows. You could spend the same amount of money at Lola and get a much more relaxing atmosphere, and much better food."

The server on the other hand, did not seem to know the menu very well and when we asked her questions about some of the options- we did not get very much feedback and very little help...she was also not good on drink refills. Those that ordered wine or beer at our table received drink refills relatively quickly. The individuals that were drink soda did not get refills and had to ask each time they needed one. The food that we did have was excellent. I would have liked the portion sizes to be larger...because the food was delish!"

  • "From beginning to end our experience was excellent. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation but we're seated right away. I said my first name at the front desk and immediately was referred to by my last name. It felt like 5 star service. They had one person refilling water while another refilled bread. The server made an excellent recommendation for a chicken dinner. The house wine was also very good and not over priced at all."

  • "Lisa was our server and she was extremely knowledgable and friendly. They have a unique support serving staff that was very friendly attentive and eager to make your dining experience wonderful. We never had to wait for anything there was always someone right there to help us. The food was second to none. There was a great deal of skill and pride that went into each dish and I will definitely be back. Well worth every penny. Thank you for making my son'a birthday dinner so wonderful!!!"

  • "We had enjoyed an earlier visit and were looking forward to a great meal on a weekend getaway. It started with the mussels that tasted awfull. The chef apologized and said they weren't seasoned properly. Next round still didn't taste right. The overall meal was so so and didn't come up to our first . The atmosphere and location is ideal if you stay downstown. We would maybe go back sometime but would not be in any rush to do so."

  • "Chinato did not hold our reservation because we were delayed due to traffic. The only table we were offered was in the basement. We were seated in a corner next to a service door. The ambient light went dead five minutes after we were seated. The noise in the room was intolerable and we had to shout at ourselves all evening. The food was bland and tasteless."

  • "We had a great meal, as always. My wife had the Porchetta and I had the Bollito Misto. Both were truly superb. Finished off with a selection from their cheese board made the meal heaven. We had an excellent wine, recommended by our waiter, which was a home run. The only slight mishap was that they originally misheard my wife's order. We had questions about a lot of the entrees, so the confusion was understandable. More importantly, once it was pointed out, they apologized profusely, made the correction in record time, and even made it up to us a bit on the bill. I loved the way they handled this, it made us feel very taken care of and didn't subtract from the evening at all."

  • "The hostess made us feel very rushed when we arrived and after we sat down.The food was OK, not what we expected for the price. Pasta course was the best out of the four courses. Need some refinement work in both the back and front of the house. Desserts were disappointing.The restaurant has a lot of potential but not a good value for the price, service and food."
