Diner Reviews
  • "Chimayo is consistently excellent. Another great meal."

  • "The food at Chinayo has so much flavor. It combines Spanish flare with many great ingredients of the Mountain West (e.g. Buffalo)."

  • "Chimayo never disappoints. Love the elk and the pork spare rib crown is a must try entree. Duck enchilada appetizer is a winner. Wine list is a good way to try some lesser known South American and Spanish wines. Service is friendly and professional."

  • "During the summer, the Bill White restaurants have special menus one day a week. For Chimayo, it's Thursday. We have eaten here many, many times and it is one of our favorites. However, the Thursday night specials were a letdown. Clearly not the same caliber of food as their normal menu. We did the similar special evening at another Bill White restaurant, Grappa, and it was excellent. So, eat at Chimayo, but stick to the normal menu. The ribs and trout are excellent."

  • "What a great Mexican restaurant at a great price, The food was fantastic and Mike is the best waiter. We had the chili relleno and wow. Also the standing Crown Roast of Barbecued Spareribs are fantastic."

  • "We love eating at all Bill White restaurants, but during the low season they are an even better experience. The cozy 2 person booths are romantic & comfortable. Great wine list. Very good service, and amazing food. The mussels were high quality & delicious. The rib rack was amazing as always."

  • "The food was awesome! The service was great! Hostess was a sweetheart! Sad that we left are to go boxes behind. We ordered desert to go as well. So we didn't even get to try it :0(. I would of went back but we were the last table of the night. So they were closed. Over all great experience. "

  • "Great place for something different. Food is amazing."

  • "This is consistently an excellent choice. Their dishes are creative, fresh and delicious. This small, intimate restaurant is a local favorite with local dishes (trout tacos, elk steaks, etc) presented with complimentary and pleasing sides."

  • "I've been here many times over the years. Maybe I expected too much as I was bringing a guest who'd never been here, but the prices were much higher than I remembered, the food was good--not great, and the noise level was very high. We ate at The Edge a couple of nights before, which is rated very high for steak houses and expensive, yet the food was less costly, much better, and the atmosphere quiet enough that we could talk without yelling. "

  • "Came in with a group of six for dinner. The service was friendly, professional and the food & recommendations were great. Will definitely be back. "

  • "We don't eat a lot of meat but when we do we pick game or buffalo. We ordered the sugarcane elk appetizer. Outstandingly creative. We had two salads, beet arugula and stuffed avocado. Also excellent quality. We shared roasted veggie enchiladas. Chimayo spends a lot of time on presentation. Each plate is as much a piece of art as it is a culinary treat. Food portions are generous. Rustic ambiance and seating is unique. Booths are split with a wood panel topped with wrought iron. A couple sits side by side but I would not call it private. Server and support staff were very attentive and knowledgable. Like most of Utah the wine pour is stingy. Overall great dining experience but pricey, as you would expect in a resort town."

  • "5/7/14--We just passed through PC on x-c trip...tried for reservations at Talisker and other local hot spots but they were closed for the off-season. Chimayo was still spot-on with great service and amazing food--highly recommend the lamb osso bucco with a serrano chile fused margarita "

  • "Our group of 7 had a truly wonderful dining experience at Chimayo. The server was friendly and attentive (without being intrusive), and the food and drinks were noteworthy. There was not a single issue with anyone's selection, and we were able to enjoy ourselves without feeling rushed. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Park City."

  • "Phenomenal food- taste and appearance. Exotic menu items include elk steak, bison steak, and a couple fresh selections of seafood. Margaritas were great too. "

  • "We cannot compliment Chef Arturo enough times. We have been regular customers for the past 7 years and his food always amazes us. This restaurant is a MUST if you are in Park City"

  • "Even two days later, I can't stop thinking about the elk. So Good!"

  • "The food was very delicious. We didn't get wine or appetizers, but still had to wit about 45 mins for our food to arrive. They only refilled our sodas, when asked and the waiter only checked on us a couple time. "

  • "Chimayo had great reviews and was recommended by a close foodie friend, so perhaps this was a solitary incident, however, my fiancé and I left a bit disappointed. Although My scallops were excellent and cooked to perfection, it seems the cook spent more time worrying about the ridiculous volcano-like presentation for my fiance's $50 ribs than cooking them correctly, as they were too dried out and chewy for him to even eat. Our server stopped to check on our food before we'd really tried it, then was nowhere to be found until it was too late. They comped the ribs, since they were barely touched, which was appreciated, however, although we enjoyed dessert and the bread with cilantro lime sauce, overall Chimayo didn't meet our expectations."

  • "Excellent food, service and ambience, but too expensive for what you get."

  • "We first ate here over four years ago and each return visit keeps us coming back again and again. The food is amazing with distinctive sauces and cooked to perfection. I had the coconut and corn encrusted halibut and it was delicious. "

  • "Mike, our server and Julie the Hostess are the best. We are always made to feel at home and as thought they are genuinely happy to see us. Chimayo is our favorite restaurant in all of Park City. If you haven't tried the halibut, you are missing the best dish ever. Well, all the food they serve is exceptional~"

  • "We have been coming to Park City for 15 years and have eaten at most every restaurant there. This one is the best - hands down. It brings it - year in and year out. Unfortunately, I cannot give the same recommendations for the other Bill White restaurants. "

  • "First time at Chimayo and won't be the last! Service, food, all great. A bit pricey but worth it."

  • "Chimayo is one of the best restaurants in the Old Town part of Park City. Great ambiance and amazing food. My one reservation is we were very rushed with our meal. The entrees came out before we were finished with our appetizers. Perhaps it was because we have kids; however, we noted other people also appeared to be getting pushed out quickly too. Prices are high here so this is not what I expected. Hopefully this is food for thought (pun intended) for the restaurant's management."

  • "As advertised. The elk entree continues to be one of my favorites. Everytime I go to dinner at Chimayo it delivers. It's my favorite restaurant."

  • "So many great restaurants to choose from in Park City but Chimayo is of the top 5. And, they break from the "mountain gourmet" theme with gourmet Mexican. For starters the Chili Relleno stuffed with goat cheese and mozzarella was perfect with a crunchy crust and spectacular sauce accompanied by a jicama salad-- and a reasonable portion for an appetizer so you could finish your meal. Another in our party raved about the Tortilla Soup-- think depth of lobster bisque. The elk was very simple but with the french influenced sauce was very elegant. The wine list had a ton of Spanish wines and the sommelier was knowledgeable and friendly sharing detail on the growing regions for the wines we looked at. Tried sipping Tequila for desert- yum."

  • "We love dining at Chimayo and have for 4 years. We have never had a bad or questionable meal here. The chef is outstanding and the service is always beyond amazing. Having just become permanent residents of Park City, Chimayo will be on our regular places to dine. The scallops are to die for; the in-season halibut is a dish you won't be able to get enough of. Chimayo is also a great place to bring customers or host business dinners. We have done both and have received great comments from our attendees. If you are in the Park City area; don't miss this wonderful place."

  • "This is definitely one of my top three favorite restaurants in Park City. Quaint and comfortable atmosphere. Fantastic margaritas. Great bread and dipping sauce. My personal favorites are the scallops, crown spare ribs, elk, and bison entrees. Consistently good food and service based on many, many visits."

  • "When in Park CIty do not miss this restaurant. While a bit crowed and noisy this was by far the best meal we had while there. The elk tenderloin and halibut meals were terrific"

  • "Have been going to Chimayo for 9 years. Every time we leave we swear we're not going back. This time our table of four was sandwiched between a table of 12 and a table of 14. Our order was taken right away by a lovely but harried young woman. 90 minutes later after several pleas to the waitress and then to the manager, our food was still not there. Apparently the order was misplaced in the kitchen due to the never ending requests for more drinks, chips, etc from the large tables surrounding us. We ended up walking out after the manager explained the problem."

  • "The food was tasty and interesting. The noise level was very high so it was difficult to have a conversation or to hear the wait staff. It was also a very expensive restaurant and although the food was delicious and interesting I do not think it was worth the price."

  • "We had dinner on a Thursday night. Glad I made reservations ---- the place was very crowded. This is our second time at Chimayo and we were not disappointed. The food is just great -- unique flare to a southwest menu. Our waiter was very attentive (considering the crowd). We did wait a little longer time for the main course but the waiter did explain it was due to the busy evening. The food was worth the wait ---- the elk and short ribs were especially delicious. Definitely would recommend this restaurant when visiting Park City."

  • "We ordered a little bit of everything, and as usual, Chimayo did not disappoint. While it is a little pricey, its great for a special occasion and for groups. I thought the queso fundido could have been better (had a heavy wine/fondue flavor to it), and i'd say the caesar salad isn't worth it, but the chile relleno appetizer was excellent. My boyfriend had the sparerib entree, which is big enough for two to split, and I shared the trout enchiladas with a friend, and that was excellent as well. My advice to future diners would be to order a few apps or soups and share an entree. Whenever we go, we end up filling up on the bread they serve, because its amazing, so keep that in mind when you order your entrees."

  • "Great food and service quite strong. Food portions enormous including the kids menu options. My only complaint we were in a table that really held two but we were three. For the person on the inside there was no space or leg room. The trout fajitas were outstanding. The three soup trio was nice. Kids chicken enchilada was tasty. Very pricey but food was exceptional. The service at out table was perfect."
