Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent food and staff! Desserts are to die for. But I suggest only going as a couple or in a very small group because it is extremely expensive. I had a group of 8 and spent over $700."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised of the amazing style of presentation. The food preparations were truly exquisite and delicious."

  • "I've been going to Chima's for several years. Use to love it. Last two times (June and July 2014) the quality of the meat has declined. Servers try to steer you away from the good cuts, don't come by as often, and usually begin with the pork and chicken. In their defense, the manager seems very attentive and always asks "is everything alright". My guess is that the price of beef and fish has increased substantially, so instead of increasing their prices Chima's decided to cut corners. This shows in the desserts as well. I sympathize with their dilemma, but I'll have to stop going there for a while."

  • "During a recent dinner with my family at the Chima Brazilian Steakhouse in Washington, and in addition to the always delicious and diverse cuisine, I was very impressed by the highly attentive wait-staff and their attention to detail. I strongly recommend the Chima Brazilian Steakhouse in Washington to individuals who desire a first class dining experience!"

  • "The beef at this restaurant is generally outstanding - once again they did a great job. We have been there many times and will continue to go."

  • "Our visit to Chima was a delightful dining experience. The selection of meats offered something for every taste, the salad and side bar far exceeded the quality of offerings for high end restaurants, and the service was outstanding, but not pushy. The top loin cut was the favorite at our table, but every choice was delicious. Next time we're in the DC area, we will go back."

  • "I have been to other Brazilian steakhouses, some cheaper like Texas de Brazil and some in the same range like Fogo de Chao. The cuts were like Texas de Brazil at Fogo de Chao prices. Desserts are $10 to $15 also nothing out of the ordinary. This place is just an overpriced snob restaurant. Since they don't put prices anywhere I will tell you that I paid $150 (with tip) for two people. No alcohol drinks. 1 dessert."

  • "Great place...took my sister from NYC here on the 4th. She loved it! So do I!! I'll be back soon. Super staff from great and meet to wait staff. Very enjoyable and well with the price!!"

  • "I'm a big fan of Texas de Brazil and think it offers good value so I went to Chima, the Fairfax competition, specifically to see if was worth the 15%+ higher price. The answer is a solid maybe. The salad bar has a wider variety of items, but I can't really say it was better. Chima has the same basic meat items as TdB and Fogo. I was impressed with how moist everything was, even when cooked more than I would prefer. The decor is very nice, although it is really one big room and the video screen in the middle is kind of strange. The wine list is okay but does not have the same depth at various price points as TdB. So is it better than TdB - for meat, yes. 15% better overall? Maybe. • "We went on a group of 5, and the tables are excellent for groups. Nobody ever felt distant from each other when having conversations. The place has fantastic food, the servers and the gauchos are very friendly and willing to make you happy. My only problem was that our table kept asking for filet mignon and they took forever to bring it to us. It seems that they keep the more expensive beef out of the grill until someone asks for it."

  • "Chima Brazilian Steakhouse was a refreshing change from Fogo de Chao. I like both places but the food at Chima was a little less salty. I went on a Wednesday night, and there was a large crowd but it wasn't quite as hectic as Fogo de Chao. The servers were attentive but not overbearing. Overall, it was a nice experience and good for a special night out with a group."

  • "I have been here several times so far and each time I've brought some newbies with me whom beg to return at least once a month. The food is amazing and how much better can you get than All you can eat HIGH END quality meat! What's even better is the staff is really efficient. They tend to you as if you were the only diners at the place. Of course, the meat comes around often and the only way that it could improve is to have the meat come around in 2 separate areas as if they are part of a different restaurant. Try the Picanha as its their house special and is really well prepared. The beef ribs, charred flank steak and the Picanha are my meat's that I tend to gravitate towards."

  • "I got introduced to Chima when my friends took me out about a month ago. The food was delicious, the meat was tender and perfectly seasoned, and there was enough variety to satisfy any meat lover. The service was spot-on with a friendly staff who made sure that we had everything that we needed. The restaurant has a soft, elegant yet modern atmosphere that welcomes everyone as they come inside. I was so pleased that I took my family out for Father's Day where my folks were impressed as well. This just became my favorite go-to location for any special event."

  • "Chima is quietly surpassing all other Brazilians steakhouse in the area (Fogo de Chao, Texas de Brasil, etc.) - quality and variety of meats is unmatched! service is excellent and very efficient with wireless orders and customer requests taken by severs!"

  • "Chima Tysons is one of my favorite places to celebrate nearly any occasion. They have a great menu for both beef-lovers and vegetarians. While some of the cuts of beef leave something to be desired, others are delicious."

  • "Since we weren't sure when graduation would end, I spoke with the staff earlier in the day to see if there was flexibility in our arrival time. There was and it turned out that we arrived 45 mins early. There was no problem in being seated (note: it was a Wednesday night). Staff was wonderful, especially our waiter who engaged our graduate in conversation about heading off to college. Overall, a very nice dinner and experience for our family."

  • "Chima is a great place to invite your guest to. Your guest will feel special. Also, for your family it is the right choice that your family will like. Very good, healthy food, and excellent atmosphere. Making a reservation ahead is recommended especially in social seasons."

  • "When I pay more than $50 a person (wine and desserts not included) I, frankly, expect a certain level of excellence. Chima didn't reach it. The salad and vegetable buffet was fine but certainly not special. The restaurant was very loud. And the meat while very good was also not exceptional. I kept thinking--all throughout dinner--of all the places I could sit down to get a nice piece of beef with less noise and tooing-and-frooing (Ruth Chris which is nearby comes to mind immediately). Two of our party of five actually became ill post meal. Ah well. Live and learn."

  • "Very good service. The selections of meat were great, all of the items were hot, seasoned well and very juicy. Good salad bar and the meat sauces were also good."

  • "This was my first time eating at Chima. I was hesitate because they had some not so great reviews. However, I was glad that I went to Chima. I took my husband and son there for Father's Day. We loved it. We would definitely go back again. The food was delicious. Specifically, the sirloin and fillet mignon was cooked perfectly. The fish was cooked just right. The salad bar had a variety of items to select. And the wait staff was very attentive. Overall, the restaurant met my expectations and I was pleasantly pleased."

  • "We had high hopes for Chima as four of us went there to celebrate a birthday. Typical to Brazilian steak houses, they had a wide variety of food to choose from. The best was the salmon. Otherwise, the chicken selections were cooked dry. Bacon-wrapped filet was way overcooked (not a hint of pink). Flank steak was rather tasteless. On the plus side, the restaurant was was nicely appointed, the salad bar was extensive, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Bottom line: I don't think I will return. Our party of four had no alcohol, but we did order three desserts after the meal. The total cost including restaurant-suggested tip was $325. Neither the quality of food nor the Brazilian dining experience was worth the price. "

  • "I really enjoyed this place, the ubication, decoration, and atenttion was great. Even though the same day we went there was a graduation party so was kind of noisy, and the waiters were so worried about us being happy that kept interrupting us! so i couldn't have a good conversation with my date. On the cute side, was my birthday, so they brought a cake (they didnt charge for it :-) and they took a pretty picture from us, gave it to me in a cute frame. So that was such a cute detail."

  • "A friend took me to Chima to celebrate our birthdays and it was a great experience! Delicious food, excellent service...as if the salad bar didn't contain a ridiculous amount of delicious options, then came the meat!! The meat is amazing! The baby top sirloin (house specialty, don't remember the Brazilian name) was so delicious! And then our waiter brought us tiramisu with birthday candles and cute little chocolate "Happy Birthday" signs and took our photo, which he gave us to take home. Overall, this was such a special experience and I can't wait to go again!"

  • "Service was slow, and meat was not hot either, had to ask waiters to send meat servers as they we're ignoring us. "

  • "Staff did a wonderful job preparing things for my girlfriend's birthday. Only complaint I could make was their choice in the table we were placed at, next to a family group there was some distraction from the kids, a couple tables over by windows may have set a slightly more romantic ambience."
    Dined on 5/18/2014
  • "Had a birthday group of 8. Server was good and whenever we needed some type of meat we were not seeing come by, he would do his thing on his mobile device and they will be out within seconds. My wife had picked a wine already but server was a bit pushy trying to get us to get one of his "favorite" wine which we declined, but other than that service was good. I recommend their top sirolin, filet mignon, and ribeye. Ribs I didn't try, and their chicken wrapped in bacon was not good at all. Their cheesy bread is quite amazing at the start of the meal, and their salad bar was good also, can't complain."

  • "The selection of flavorful meats and food is truly impressive. I wish I could have eaten more. I recommend going here with a big appetite and stick to the BBQ. It's a marathon, not a race. Final note, the lime-aid is amazing!"

  • "The service was acceptable. Lots of choices of meats. If you like your meats well done it may not be worth the value for they don't have much that is well done, and when you ask for well done they tend not to return. This was our second time to Chima and about the same results."

  • "There is a similar spot in Baltimore that I wanted to try but unfortunately I never got there. I was doing a weekend getaway for my girl's birthday and wanted a good restaurant in the falls church area, then I stumbled upon Chima. The food was excellent, the servers kept bringing the meats, as soon as your plate was running low the meats kept coming. My girlfriend and I received excellent service from all the servers and William surprised her with a birthday cake and took her picture, which he printed out and gave it to her in a nice chima frame. Overall we had a good time."
