Chicken and the Egg is a neighborhood gathering spot that will serve sophisticated yet approachable American farmstead fare. Our name represents the cycle of life and the importance of sustainability. We want to help minimize the negative impact humans leave on this planet.

The menu at Chicken and the Egg features innovative twists on classic American dishes. The cuisine will incorporate seasonal ingredients from local farms and purveyors as well as sustainable beef, pork, poultry and seafood. Marc Taft is the chef/owner and will utilize approachable ingredients that are thoughtfully constructed and highlight what the earth has to offer.Continued

  • "Using canned mushrooms when fresh ones are available and cheap is really poor. I go there often and eat at the bar and food has been good. I don't know if the regular chef takes Sundays off but the food was just ok. English muffins were soggy for the GA benedict and the hollandaise really didn't have much flavor. Overall we just weren't impressed. Plus there were 4 of us with a child and they put us at a table for 4. I made the reservation for 5. When we asked if we could move to a booth that would easily seat 5, the kid (litterally) told us that it wasn't available. Then a few minutes later they sat 2 people there. Just think they need to up their game. I won't go back for brunch for a while."

  • "We went for Sunday brunch at noon. We had various versions of eggs benedict, all well prepared and served quite promptly. The coffee was not what I hope for when going out for brunch - fairly weak. Our experience was overwhelmed with the noise level. We had a table of four and by the end of the meal we had all but given up being able to hear each other at our booth table. For this reason, I would not return."

  • "Chicken and the Egg was once the new leader in West Cobb restaurants, but its relatively stagnant brunch menu has made it difficult for the restaurant to keep up with its peers. New, innovative menu items are needed. The brunch food is good, but it seems to be hit or miss across menu choices and across different visits. Consistency would help the restaurant, as would a chef's brunch special. Service is fine, but again, it depends on the server and the day. Worth checking out, but perhaps for lunch or dinner instead, where the menu options may be more to your liking."

  • "The food was okay, but the meatloaf and green beans were not freshly prepared, and temperature was cold. The service was disappointing, as to boldly train a new hire without acknowledging such with the guest seemed rude. The experience was all about training the new waiter, and not about the customers and their dining experience. We have been dined here several times, but this will be our last time. Just disappointed too many times."

The service is awesome and the alcoholic beverages are well mixed. The bar area is outstanding and the current promotion of $5 Bloody Mary and $8 bottomless mimosa make this place a sought out brunch spot. You must try this location it will become your favorite!"

  • "Started with the fried green tomatoes - crispy, with ham and a good sauce and chutney. The breading was not too thick so the tomatoes shined through. Could have had a bit more sauce. They use to put goat cheese on here as well, but that seems to have changed. The rolls and sorgrham butter were delicious as usual. My wife had the fried chicken (breading was good, chicken a little dry), collards and mac and cheese and both were very good. I had the salmon with a green pea puree and mushrooms. Salmon could have had a better sear, but was tasty. The skillet cornbread was bland and tasteless."

Decor is inviting and makes me want to like this restaurant. Simple, quaint, southern sophisticated. I read the menu and "Everything sounds so yummy!" Delivery is disappointing??? Both visits, not only myself, but also my guests, were disappointed with the presentation, the taste, the flavor of the items versus the mouthwatering, intriguing menu descriptions. Across the board disparity...all ordering different items. Bloody Mary was boring. Tomato was not "garden fresh." Bacon was precooked. Missing that punch to make the experience memorable! I No need to go back, but I might. Too loud!"

  • "We had eaten dinner here on a previous visit to Marietta, this was our first lunch opportunity and we were not disappointed! Anne was a superb server who ensured that our drinks were always full and our meals served with a smile. The chicken tender lunch plate was loaded with lightly coated chicken and two dipping sauces, the hash brown casserole was creamy and tasty. The chicken fried steak with brown gravy was as well, prepared with real beef and not a manufactured patty. Real food - traditional southern preparation - great service! We will be back!"

  • "We took a guest to this restaurant based upon past experiences, which had been good. Two of our three meals were poor. One was completely inedible. They replaced it with a different meal, but it was a starch (ravioli), stuffed with a starch (polenta), covered with a starch (creamed corn) and it too was not good. The chef was there, the staff seemed poorly trained and the menu is in change (which is the explanation to our question about a number of missing items). The only positives were the wine and the shrimp appetizer. The place was really empty on a Saturday night, which seemed a bit odd. This place has gone from our favorite list to the won't eat there list. Sad....it used to be a lot better than that."

  • "We had dinner based on a recommendation from a friend a while back, then found it again on Open Table while looking for somewhere new to eat. I'm glad we did! The food was fresh, hot and homemade. I had the pork stroganoff and I nearly skipped it b/c of past experience but so glad I went with it! It was nothing like I've had before! It was delicious and I will be ordering it again! We also had the fried chicken which was so tender and very tasty. For desert we tried the banana bread pudding and the chocolate cream brulee - 2 thumbs up for both! Lastly, you must try the blueberry mojito...it's a great twist on a classic summer drink! You won't be disappointed until you reach the bottom of the glass!"

  • "My husband and I met another couple at the restaurant. We ended up staying for quite awhile. The server was extremely helpful, never rushed us, showed up when we needed something, and knew about all we asked on the menu. The food was excellent - I had the pork tenderloin - cooked perfectly, great flavor, great sides. Another one in the group had shrimp and grits - very good! The other two had their chicken - only complaint - couldn't eat it all!! Appetizers were great, drinks were great - just an all around great evening. More folks should check out the Chicken and the Egg!!"
