  • "The brunch here is just wonderful. Fried green tomato appetizer is one of my favorites. I love their bottomless mimosas too."

  • "We've eaten here before and always enjoy it. The service was a little slower than normal, but not bad. We were told two servers were out that day. It was still enjoyable and I would highly recommend Chicken and the Egg to everyone."

  • "This visit was our second, but we enjoyed the experience once more as if we'd never been before. The food is great, service is commendable and the time it takes to be served is wonderful. Great restaurant to visit off the beaten path. Two thumbs up."

  • "We had eaten dinner here on a previous visit to Marietta, this was our first lunch opportunity and we were not disappointed! Anne was a superb server who ensured that our drinks were always full and our meals served with a smile. The chicken tender lunch plate was loaded with lightly coated chicken and two dipping sauces, the hash brown casserole was creamy and tasty. The chicken fried steak with brown gravy was as well, prepared with real beef and not a manufactured patty. Real food - traditional southern preparation - great service! We will be back!"

  • "Could use a little more flavor to the food. Presentation is great but something is missing in the seasoning."

  • "We took a guest to this restaurant based upon past experiences, which had been good. Two of our three meals were poor. One was completely inedible. They replaced it with a different meal, but it was a starch (ravioli), stuffed with a starch (polenta), covered with a starch (creamed corn) and it too was not good. The chef was there, the staff seemed poorly trained and the menu is in change (which is the explanation to our question about a number of missing items). The only positives were the wine and the shrimp appetizer. The place was really empty on a Saturday night, which seemed a bit odd. This place has gone from our favorite list to the won't eat there list. Sad....it used to be a lot better than that."

  • "Chicken and the Egg bring a new twist on old favorites! Chef has really done a great job and complementing all of your favriotes with his various condiments. The Jezebel Sauce is the best and should be sold in local stores."

  • "Homemade doughnuts as an appetizer were a huge hit with my daughter. Everyone's dishes were very good. The BLT with pimento cheese was very large. Definitely a splurge if you are dieting. Crowded but we had reservation so sat quickly."

  • "we went for brunch with a large group. the server was amazing. we did not have to wait very long for our orders. the food was good although it could have been hotter. I can understand that being a problem with a large group. will be back."

  • "We've visited Chicken & The Egg a few times and have always had a good experience. Nice atmosphere, good menu options, reasonable prices and good food. Our party enjoyed caesar salads, fried green tomatoes and mushroom toasts as starters that were all very good. We followed that up with fried chicken that was also very good. This restaurant should be supported better by the community and surrounding neighborhoods."

  • "We had dinner based on a recommendation from a friend a while back, then found it again on Open Table while looking for somewhere new to eat. I'm glad we did! The food was fresh, hot and homemade. I had the pork stroganoff and I nearly skipped it b/c of past experience but so glad I went with it! It was nothing like I've had before! It was delicious and I will be ordering it again! We also had the fried chicken which was so tender and very tasty. For desert we tried the banana bread pudding and the chocolate cream brulee - 2 thumbs up for both! Lastly, you must try the blueberry mojito...it's a great twist on a classic summer drink! You won't be disappointed until you reach the bottom of the glass!"

  • "This was my third time dining here and I have never been disappointed with the food. Quality is top notch and consistent. Service is excellent. Would recommend for a very pleasant casual dinner out where you know you meal is individually created and served with the freshest of local ingredients."

  • "My husband and I met another couple at the restaurant. We ended up staying for quite awhile. The server was extremely helpful, never rushed us, showed up when we needed something, and knew about all we asked on the menu. The food was excellent - I had the pork tenderloin - cooked perfectly, great flavor, great sides. Another one in the group had shrimp and grits - very good! The other two had their chicken - only complaint - couldn't eat it all!! Appetizers were great, drinks were great - just an all around great evening. More folks should check out the Chicken and the Egg!!"

  • "For food, service, ambience this place has never disappointed.....a favorite of mine and my daughter. I had the pleasure of my daughter's company for a Father's Day dinner. We had a great evening and we will return for more great evenings. When you go do try the Hangar Steak.........excellent!"

  • "We enjoyed celebrating Father's Day with the Sunday Brunch. Great good and good service. Black eyed hummus was delicious. Even our picky teenagers enjoyed the food. Thank you to the managers for checking on us and helping with refilling our drinks when our waitress was slammed. Good teamwork."

  • "I love this place for brunch! The best buttermilk biscuits I've ever had! The Chicken and French toast is my favorite meal!"

  • "My family was very pleased with our dining experience at C & E. The portions were plentiful, the wait staff was courteous and efficient, and the atmosphere was charming. I definitely suggest reservations as there was a long wait for people without them."

  • "Had a reservation and got seated in reasonable time. However waited over an hour for food. Biscuits brought as a after thought but no plate tout it on and no butter or jelly or honey. Just a plain biscuit in your hand. Understaffed or no good expiring in kitchen"

  • "The food was excellent as usual, however, the service was a little less than desirable. Our server was sweating profusely! My family felt that was very distracting and uncomfortable. I'm not sure if the server's sweating is a personal issue, or the shirts the servers are asked to wear are not made of the correct type of fabric. Not pleasant to see when food is being served. Also, when he served our drinks he always held the glass near the top of the rim. Not very sanitary! I suggest management frequently refreshes the service delivery approach with staff. Other than that my family enjoyed the meal and ambience."

  • "I have always loved going to The Chicken and the Egg and we were quite disappointed when we were there for brunch on Sunday. New server who was not familiar w/ the menu, our food was really delayed and then the orders for two of the meals were put in wrong. They boast they were rated the best place for brunch in America...I would have to say that wasn't our experience. I will definitely go back but probably not on a holiday, such as Father's Day."

  • "We arrived in a festive mood around 9:15 p.m. Had wine and drinks. The wait staff demonstrated congenial personality. The food came out of the kitchen in a very timely manner and was very tasty. Good follow-up by wait staff. No complaints. Had been there twice before. They do not disappoint."

  • "I took a friend for her birthday this past Saturday and it was the first visit for each of us. For an appetizer we had cornbread, which we both thought was dry and a little bland. For entrees, I had the fried chicken and she had the steak. The white meat of the fried chicken was extremely moist, but it did lack some flavor, which could easily be added to the breading, and it would be delish. The mac n cheese was described as fantastic, but I thought it was just okay. The greens, however, have a wonderful flavor. The steak was very good and had excellent flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant is great and with some touches here and there to the food, it could easily be more than average."

  • "We have been to brunch here three times, and while it was good the first visit (we went early on a Saturday), and okay the second (again early on a Sunday) this last visit (Sunday afternoon) was not up to par. I love chicken and biscuits, and while the chicken was a normal portion the first two visits, this last time the chicken portion had shrunk to just above a bite sized portion. The hash brown casserole was also very bland and undercooked when the first two visits it had been tasty. I get it that a Sunday afternoon brunch is going to be busy, but they should be prepared for the numbers. Our server was in the weeds when we sat down and the server who delivered our food basically threw the plates on the table and ran off without a word."

  • "We've been coming here for lunch and dinner meals since they opened. We always enjoy the meal. We had an adult birthday for 6 last weekend and loved their delicious brunch offerings. They have a great menu. Lots of choices but not so many that they don't give each preparation their full attention. I rarely have the same thing and am always satisfied."
