We met friends at the Chicken and the Egg in advance of a evening near the square in Marietta. We were at the restaurant early so it was quiet. We all enjoyed our evening and the CATE's take on familiar dishes with a southern flair. interestingly, my wife Kale Salad was the most beautiful dish. The Southern Stroganoff was fun and different. One diner's shrimp and grits were a bit too spicy. It was our only complaint. We like this place and will be back.

LOVE the atmosphere at this place. Love the bar and the bottomless $9 mimosas during brunch! I had the eggs Benedict florentine and it was good but didn't rise to the occasion. I had walked in the Sunday before to an hour a half wait (didn't stay) so my expectations were probably higher than was fair. I'll go back though to try the regular menu.

Although we had dined at Chicken and the Egg many times previously, we had not tried the Sunday Brunch. It was excellent!.....as we expected from our previous experiences. The restaurant was crowded because of the widely accepted quality of the Sunday Brunch so expect a bit slower food service, but not bad service from the restaurant employees......they are always excellent. I highly recommend that you make reservations or expect a 30+ minute wait for walk-ins. Try the "Afternoon Nap" menu selection, if you arrive with a big appetite.

Tried for the first time. The pimento cheese fritters are to die for. My husband liked the Bubba benedict and I had the chicken and biscuits, Large servings and a good value. Everything is fresh and from scratch. Service was attentive. Grits were just average and we love grits. Will go back again and try dinner.

The Chicken and The Egg was a pleasant surprise. The location is tucked away in away in shopping center, however when you walk in it's a spacious establishment with a very nice ambiance. They have $9 unlimited mimosas and the omelets are open faced and wonderful (love the bayou omelet!) We will definitely be going back!!!

Had a chance to try out one of their signature bourbon cocktails before dinner and it was quite something. They have a nice list to choose from for drinks. Didn't have an appetizer but the main meal was really good. The sides were really tasty as well. Would say read menu carefully, some menu items come with multiple sides while my salmon only had a little quinoa underneath. Everything tasted amazing and was well prepared. Added the grits and finished the meal with the very good praline bread pudding. Definitely would recommend.

We eat at the Chicken and the Egg nearly every trip from Philadelphia, the food is reliable southern cooking and the service never fails. I especially love the Blue Plate lunch specials with the chicken tenders and the country fried steak never disappointing us. We enjoyed brunch on our last visit, thankfully, everyone of our party tried a different dish and all were "special". If you grew up eating southern foods, this is the best place in Marietta to eat! We'll be back in 60 days to enjoy again!

Took an out of town guest for the Thursday night 2 for $25 for chicken livers (her a favorite). The service was very good, the appetizer was good (and interesting) the chicken livers and sides were a big disappointment. Over battered and overcooked. This was our second time dining at The Chicken and The Egg, I think it could be a great neighborhood restaurant with a little work, I probably won't go back.

After reading other reviews our expectations were high. After being seated (for Sunday brunch) and reviewing the menu our expectations were even more hopeful. The dining room is cute and the service great, but what's going on in the kitchen? The presentation was uninspired and the quality of the food was disappointing. Add to this result, the cost was way too high for the quality of the product. What a shame ... we won't be back.

We had Sunday brunch here last week. We sat outside and really enjoyed a beautiful day. The food was amazing. We each ordered a meal and shared them all. The chicken biscuits were my favorite, but everything was delicious. We also enjoyed the $5 bloody marys. Our server was friendly and fun and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely go back to this place!

after reading many reviews, we decided to give the restaurant a try. We were seated promptly up towards the front, and our server was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu. As many other reviews had stated, the temperature of the food as it arrived was not as hot as we would have preferred. Almost like some of the items may have been sitting for a little while. Having said that though the range of food was very interesting and tasted really good. We will be back, but we will probably ask to make sure that the food is warmer when it arrives at the table.

I was skeptical when our friend asked us to drive west of downtown Marietta to eat at this great new place she heard about but I'm glad we did. The name perhaps throws you off a bit because, yes, they do have fried chicken, but there's so much more to this new south menu. Having eaten several times at Miller Union, Watershed and Empire State South, this place can hold it's own. The portions were very ample, unlike the tinier allotments at Watershed, and prices reasonable. I had hangar steak cooked perfectly that was so tender you'd think it was filet. My husband had the salmon (not that southern, but wild caught) that he declared wonderful. Their macaroni is the original comfort food and very cheesy. And try the inventive killer cocktails.

Using canned mushrooms when fresh ones are available and cheap is really poor. I go there often and eat at the bar and food has been good. I don't know if the regular chef takes Sundays off but the food was just ok. English muffins were soggy for the GA benedict and the hollandaise really didn't have much flavor. Overall we just weren't impressed. Plus there were 4 of us with a child and they put us at a table for 4. I made the reservation for 5. When we asked if we could move to a booth that would easily seat 5, the kid (litterally) told us that it wasn't available. Then a few minutes later they sat 2 people there. Just think they need to up their game. I won't go back for brunch for a while.
