Chicken and the Egg is a neighborhood gathering spot that will serve sophisticated yet approachable American farmstead fare. Our name represents the cycle of life and the importance of sustainability. We want to help minimize the negative impact humans leave on this planet.

The menu at Chicken and the Egg features innovative twists on classic American dishes. The cuisine will incorporate seasonal ingredients from local farms and purveyors as well as sustainable beef, pork, poultry and seafood. Marc Taft is the chef/owner and will utilize approachable ingredients that are thoughtfully constructed and highlight what the earth has to offer.Continued

  • "We had dinner based on a recommendation from a friend a while back, then found it again on Open Table while looking for somewhere new to eat. I'm glad we did! The food was fresh, hot and homemade. I had the pork stroganoff and I nearly skipped it b/c of past experience but so glad I went with it! It was nothing like I've had before! It was delicious and I will be ordering it again! We also had the fried chicken which was so tender and very tasty. For desert we tried the banana bread pudding and the chocolate cream brulee - 2 thumbs up for both! Lastly, you must try the blueberry mojito...it's a great twist on a classic summer drink! You won't be disappointed until you reach the bottom of the glass!"

  • "We've visited Chicken & The Egg a few times and have always had a good experience. Nice atmosphere, good menu options, reasonable prices and good food. Our party enjoyed caesar salads, fried green tomatoes and mushroom toasts as starters that were all very good. We followed that up with fried chicken that was also very good. This restaurant should be supported better by the community and surrounding neighborhoods."

  • "My husband and I met another couple at the restaurant. We ended up staying for quite awhile. The server was extremely helpful, never rushed us, showed up when we needed something, and knew about all we asked on the menu. The food was excellent - I had the pork tenderloin - cooked perfectly, great flavor, great sides. Another one in the group had shrimp and grits - very good! The other two had their chicken - only complaint - couldn't eat it all!! Appetizers were great, drinks were great - just an all around great evening. More folks should check out the Chicken and the Egg!!"

  • "I have always loved going to The Chicken and the Egg and we were quite disappointed when we were there for brunch on Sunday. New server who was not familiar w/ the menu, our food was really delayed and then the orders for two of the meals were put in wrong. They boast they were rated the best place for brunch in America...I would have to say that wasn't our experience. I will definitely go back but probably not on a holiday, such as Father's Day."

  • "The food was excellent as usual, however, the service was a little less than desirable. Our server was sweating profusely! My family felt that was very distracting and uncomfortable. I'm not sure if the server's sweating is a personal issue, or the shirts the servers are asked to wear are not made of the correct type of fabric. Not pleasant to see when food is being served. Also, when he served our drinks he always held the glass near the top of the rim. Not very sanitary! I suggest management frequently refreshes the service delivery approach with staff. Other than that my family enjoyed the meal and ambience."

  • "I took a friend for her birthday this past Saturday and it was the first visit for each of us. For an appetizer we had cornbread, which we both thought was dry and a little bland. For entrees, I had the fried chicken and she had the steak. The white meat of the fried chicken was extremely moist, but it did lack some flavor, which could easily be added to the breading, and it would be delish. The mac n cheese was described as fantastic, but I thought it was just okay. The greens, however, have a wonderful flavor. The steak was very good and had excellent flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant is great and with some touches here and there to the food, it could easily be more than average."

It's now my go-to place for times when neither I not my husband can decide where to eat, as well as the place I tell all my friends they have to try. They have a great menu. Lots of choices but not so many that they don't give each preparation their full attention. I rarely have the same thing and am always satisfied."

  • "We have been to brunch here three times, and while it was good the first visit (we went early on a Saturday), and okay the second (again early on a Sunday) this last visit (Sunday afternoon) was not up to par. I love chicken and biscuits, and while the chicken was a normal portion the first two visits, this last time the chicken portion had shrunk to just above a bite sized portion. The hash brown casserole was also very bland and undercooked when the first two visits it had been tasty. I get it that a Sunday afternoon brunch is going to be busy, but they should be prepared for the numbers. Our server was in the weeds when we sat down and the server who delivered our food basically threw the plates on the table and ran off without a word."

  • "We dined here for brunch on Mother's Day. My fiance had the Bayou Omelette and my Mom and I had the Shrimp n Grits w/French Toast. Everything was so delicious and filling! Only downside was the dessert. I ordered banana pudding to go. When I received it, one of the containers the banana pudding was in was only half full from the other container that was full, and it was soupy. The taste was great but the consistency was awful. Who eats banana pudding with only 2 slices of banana in it? We did express our disappointment to the waitress. She did explain to us that is how they prepare their banana pudding, and was kind to take 1 of the banana puddings off our tab. Other than this, I would definitely return again."

Myself, husband and 2 year old daughter sat down at a booth and were treated to excellent service, food and drinks! I recommend the breakfast poutine and the oysters and grits- bottomless mimosas for $9!! It was great! They'll be seeing me again."

  • "If you are looking for a good brunch option in Marietta, Chicken and the Egg is a good choice. The brunch menu is broad and offers something for most everyone. Some menu items are staples; others rotate in and out. Service is usually very good. Just avoid the table nearest the front door; you will feel like you are on display, and it is not a very good seat. The restaurant needs to put up a wall or planter to block those entering and leaving the front door. Otherwise, you will feel every draft."
