Diner Reviews
  • "Now that Chicago Prime has taken back the spot that Rosebud used to occupy, everything's better. The service was attentive without being obtrusive, the food was outstanding and the prices were reasonable. My wife had the shrimp risotto, my son had the lamb and I had the Zuppa de Pesce. All very good, followed by dessert of tiramisu and gelato. A welcome addition to the Schaumburg restaurant scene. "

  • "Food and service were great. Chairs are horribly uncomfortable and not proportioned well to the height of the table. The noise and lack of sound barrier is terrible. Did not like that we were forced to valet park and pay $5 plus tip. I think that really cheapens a place that charges for valet parking unless you are in the city. They cone off all the available spots so its not possible to park your own car. "

  • "Met some friends of ours. Service was good, food was very good. Less noisy toward the back so we asked to change tables. Nice overall experience."

  • "Our dining club went there and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were a large group and the waitress handled the group and delivered great service even though we required individual checks. She was very patient with the group when she had to repeat things several times. In summary great food and service!"

  • "Very similar to the rosebud but a little more expensive but the quality is still there. Definitely one of my go to's in the suburbs."

  • "Everything was exceptional. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion unless you have the funds to spend over $200 a night. Nice for a once in while but a bit pricey for frequent visits, but definitely worth your time."

  • "Had excellent food with candlewood dinner. Will definitely try going here again...."

  • "We in main dining room but the bar had live music which was fun to be able to hear. The food was good.... I've had a better steal and the pork chops were tasty but dry. By far, the service was the best we have received in years ANYWHERE. We told the manager about the service because I wanted to let them know they really were outstanding."

  • "Nothing special about the restaurant. Prices were about average which was appropriate for the average food. Waiter was hard to understand due to accent, and his service was average. Tried the chicken marsala (my personal favorite in an Italian Restaurant) and it tasted like unseasoned boiled chicken served under a tasty marsala sauce. Lots of other Italian restauants available in the northwest suburbs that are better. Maybe things will improve the longer they are open. I expected more from a Chicago Prime restaurant."

  • "very disappointing ordered fried calamari app it was chewy and cocktail sauce was tasteless. We ordered tilapia that was fishy tasting. It tasted like it had been in the freezer to long. It definitely was not fresh as stated on the menu. The couple that was with ordered chicken parm it was also tasteless. I ordered a martini straight up. The martini class can half filled. For 12 dollars you should get a solid pour All and all it was a disappointing dining experience for a hefty price."

  • "Have been looking for a nice Italian restaurant since our local favorite closed a few years ago. We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived. Everyone from the bartender to to the host, bus boys and waitress was very pleasant. My request to be seated in a quiet section was honored. The cozy room where we sat close to the fireplace was lovely and much more quiet than the main room. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan, which was delicious, prepared in the traditional way just as I like it. Our friends had grouper which they enjoyed as well. My husband asked that the pork chops he ordered be prepared mild rather than spicy. They were still too spicy and he said he would not order them again. We will definitely return to this restaurant."

  • "Wow! Melissa our server was a delight and very knowledgable of the food options - including the way items were prepared - love that! The chef is out to impress and succeeded! He even came to our table to thank us for thanking "them" for such a delicious dinner! The cod special was to die for and the eggplant salad - plenty for two - is still a fond memory! Can't wait to go back! Another note worthy comment - you can have a normal volume conversation at your dining table and you're not sitting on top of the people at the next table over - that's another plus in my book! Don't miss this dining option in Schaumburg! Bon appetit!!"

  • "Here are our suggestions for improvement since we want this restaurant to succeed: 1. Hire some older wait staff. It is admirable that you kept the same staff from the former Rosebud, but these young wait staff seemed so HYPER, rushed, and disorganized. 2. Remove the heavy, distasteful sauce from the lamb chops. Just serve grilled lamb chops like we enjoy at Chicago Prime. 3. Improve the quality of the eggplant parmagian. It was mediocre at best. 4. Install some dividers to create private booths. We sat along the wall near the kitchen and could hear the conversation of the people sitting next to us. A more intimate, private setting for diners is suggested."

  • "Too expensive. Italian opera music too loud. Couldn't talk to one another when it was on. Food was just o.k..taste is just like every other Italian restaurant on every corner."

  • "I made reservations for 6 of us, long time friends that haven't seen each other for a long time. None of us have ate at this restaurant and we found it an exceptional place for dinner. There was a lot of variety on the menu to satisfy several people. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. Overall, an enjoyable evening and experience."

  • ".We went online and made a reservation for Rosebud in Schaumburg. When we couldn't find the restaurant we called the number and were connected to Chicago Prime. I said we had a reservation for Rosebud and we were told it was out of business. I expressed surprise since we had made the reservation and the girl repeated that the Schaumburg restaurant was closed. Never were we told the reservation would be honored by Chicago Prime. Because of this experience I would never even consider eating there"

  • "We were a party of 10 with a reservation at 6:00 pm on a Saturday night. We were seated at the appropriate time. Food was good. Tables are a bit close together and noise level is very high. Service was very good and server was very attentive. It did seem to take a while for food to come out so keep this in mind if you have children with you."

  • "I originally made reservations to rosebud restaurant for Valentine's day. I got a call two days before dinner confirming reservations to Chicago prime Italian. So wasn't to thrilled about the sudden change in ownership but figured we had no choice since no time to make reservations elsewhere. Once there, the atmosphere was nice and they had table ready for us. We started with bruschetta which was good. Had the cchicken Vesuvio and she had the chicken alfredo with pasta. The Alfredo was good. Very nice restaurant and will possibly go back. Like how the managers walk around and see how things are with customers, shows good pride in establishment to me."

  • "The restaurants name changed, but all the familiar faces are still in place. Unfortunately so is the noise level. We have been enjoying this restaurant for many years and especially enjoy sitting outside to eat on the enclosed patio. With that said ,sitting inside and watching the snow fall while eating good food has it's merits also. We sat next to the outside wall of restaurant and had to keep our coats close in hand and the noise level with Valentine's day celebrations going on, it was hard to hear each other speak. We enjoyed a wonderful meal and great wait staff. I hope with new owners this will not change."

  • "Your better off going to Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden, at least they would respect that their food is so, so and not as expensive. When, I spend a good amount of money I expect quality and not a so so place. The chicken was dry and there was no flavor. I went to Rosebud Downtown and loved the food and wanted to try Rosebud in Schaumburg, but found out it switched owners and I am not familiar with the food at Rosebud in Schaumburg , but the food at Italian Prime was bland and expensive and I repeat expensive, because I did not feel I got my moneys worth, in taste and experience. Looked like an old banquet hall with worse food. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone that I care for."

  • "We thought we were going to Rosebud for dinner, but this place is now under new ownership. Still has Italian along with Prime Cuts. We had a great waitress and a good meal. The pork chops were fantastic. My wife had gotten Pasta with Vodka Sauce, but she preferred my chops. We'll be back to share pork chops and a decently price bottle of wine."

  • "I made a reservation for Rosebud for valentines day on 1/31/14. I got a call a day before valentines day saying they are no longer rosebud but Chicago Prime Italian. Being the day before, I didn't have the ability to make the reservation elsewhere. I find it ridiculous I get a call the day before when I made the reservation over 2 weeks before. I arrive at the restaurant forced to use valet because there is no parking, the valet sign says complimentary but I am told its $5, the menu is $4-$5 more expensive per item than rosebud, not even close in quality as rosebud, smallest stuffed clams I have ever received, rushed service, and stuck in a small corner very close to another couple. $100 for a horrible experience and valentines day."

  • "All the entrees were prepared perfectly and enjoyed by all. We went early on Saturday (5:45) and got right in. By the time we left it was packed. Service was very good and managers stopped by a couple of times to check on everything. Overall great experience."

  • "Before we even got to this restaurant, we got a call letting us know that this Rosebud location will not accept gift certificates. When you arrive, there are signs everywhere stating this. Not sure on the reasoning behind this, but I find it very strange. The waitress was pleasant and helpful. The restaurant is decorated nicely. The food, however, disappoints. There were 10 of us in our party and at least 4 of us were unhappy with our food. My dish was not as described on the menu and it was horrible tasting. We will not be returning."

  • "Loud (can barely order your food loud) mediocre service. Salads with wrong dressing, salad with no dressing, ran out of a specific wine. Top item they refused to take Rosebud gift card stating hey had changed owners. Resulting in discussion with manager that reinstated the card. I assume they are simply trying to play their customers for chumps."

  • "We were able to get a last minute reservation. It was my first time at Rosebud, but my dinner companion had been there many times. She ordered their Brick Chicken and shared some with me. It was outstanding. I also loved the wonderful fruity flavor of the olive oil for dipping our bread. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs, which were OK. We had difficulty exiting at the end of our meal because the tables were so close together. Since it was my first time there, I am not sure if it is always like that. They are in the process of remodeling and will open in two weeks as Chicago Prime Italian Restaurant."

  • "I'm sure if we had come here earlier in the evening, it would have been busier and felt more intimate. Bur we arrived about an hour before closing and were seated in a large booth that faced outward to an empty restaurant. (Not too cozy- as I had picked this for a romantic dinner with my husband). The service was extremely good, but we were a little disappointed in the food. I got the Eggplant Parmesan, which I liked; my husband got the Veal Milanese, which he did not like at all. I rarely see him leave food on his plate, but he quit at about half and said it had an "off" taste and couldn't eat any more."

  • "My friend and I ordered the lunch special which was the fresh fish of the day, Sea bass. Little did I know it was $47 for the lunch special and the portion size would have fed 3 people! Way too much money for lunch and way to much fish for one person to consume. Very disappointed in this restaurant."

  • "Service and food was not as good as on previous visits. This was one of our favorite restaurants. Also was not happy that I could not use my gift cards that I had purchased at this Rosebud restaurant. I was told the computer system was down. I came to find out that the restaurant had been sold and the gift cards cannot be used for this Rosebud restaurant."

  • "We typically adore Rosebud, but this location really let us down. I had received some gift cards for the holidays (like I said, I adore Rosebud), and brought a group for dinner. We ordered appetizers, and our server gave us time to peruse the wine list. She came back to take our drink order, then mentioned, "If you have gift cards, we're not taking them tonight. Our system is down." Um...WHAT?! Isn't this something that customers should know when they sit down? She informed us that the system had been down all week. I would have appreciated seeing that on the website, then. We told her that yes, we had gift cards, and she apologised. I'm sure the food was good, but I was too angry to enjoy it."
