A word from Chicago Cut Steakhouse
Chicago Cut Steakhouse redefines Chicago's steak-centric dining scene with signature USDA-certified prime beef, which is hand cut and dry aged on site. A variety of made-to-order cuts are joined by eight different fish options, shellfish, chops, an array of hearty side dishes and more on the extensive dinner menu. The restaurant also serves the city's best "power breakfast," as well as a dynamic lunch service featuring carving stations in the bar area with prime rib, ham and turkey. Chicago Cut's expansive surroundings feature a lively bar area framed by dramatic wine display cases; vibrant red velvet banquettes and spacious dining tables; and sweeping views of the Chicago River. A sprawling outdoor patio lining the riverside attracts diners throughout the day and well into the evening. Special touches abound, such as the restaurant's global wine list, which is presented to the guest via an interactive iPad program.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We dined at C.C.S. after attending a matinee of Motown. My wife is on a high protein diet. We had Ted Gravina as our waiter. It could not have been a more enjoyable evening. Ted accommodated my wife's choices, made suggestions and made sure her dining experience was perfect. I also went with Ted's recommendations and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. This was our first time at C.C.S. but we will definitely be back."

  • "Service was excellent. Water was kept full, waitress was well-informed and attentive but not obtrusive. Steak was cooked perfectly. Truffle potatoes were the standout. Sautéed spinach and broccoli were al dente. Pass on the key lime pie. It was overly sweet and not nearly tangy enough. Overall the food was fine. But it's a bit expensive for a meal that is on par with Gibsons where you'll pay a lot less."

  • "The service (Justin was our waiter), the food and the patio seating on the river were all fantastic. We went to celebrate a birthday and not only did they comp dessert, they also put a candle in it when they served it. The staff was willing to split dishes tableside for us (with so many great options, you have to split items or you'll never make it to the steak!) Speakin of great food options.... try the lobster salad, truffle potatos and the bone in rib eye. It is a little more expensive that I'd normally like but it was worth every penny. Great job."

  • "Our server Eric was amazing he went above and beyond to make it a wonderful experience!! His food recommendations were out of this world. We will be back from Minneapolis."

  • "We made reservations and requested the patio for a special occasion. They were able to accommodate us even though they typically don't take reservations for the patio. We ordered steaks, which were excellent, but the sides were pretty average. The patio is a little too casual for the money; I may be old fashioned, but when I spend $300 on dinner for two, I expect a table cloth. Overall, the experience was good/very good, but I would probably try something else next time."

  • "Great spot to celebrate a special occasion. My husband and I both had the filets and they were incredibly tender and full of flavor. Great selection of toppings for the steaks as well as side dishes. We sat outside, unfortunately it began raining about 45 mins later, however they were very quick to transition us to other tables covered by an over hang so we could continue to enjoy the outdoors. It is pricey, but well worth it for a special night out."

  • "This was our third time at CCS. While we very much enjoyed the 2 previous visits, this one did not turn out so well. Never order the porterhouse for 2. It was very tough and not a god flavor.Inedible. Everything else was ok.Also the bread basket was not good. The pretzel rolls were sliced down the middle and were soft. What goes here? We will not go back. Too many better steakhouses."

  • "Tasty steaks but brusque, poor service. My server did not ask if we wanted a drink at the beginning, nor offer the wine list. I had to ask for one. At the end, dessert was not offered. During our meal, another waiter chose to use the space immediately next to our booth (one inch away) to serve out portions for another table and carelessly throw spoons on to his serving tray that was an extension of our table. We don't have to put up with bring treated that way."

  • "I had the bone-in ribeye, lobster mac 'n cheese and sauteed spinach. It was absolutely delicious! Our server was very attentive and friendly. We received great service. When I come back to Chicago, I will come back to this steakhouse."

  • "Portions were large so split the sides if possible. Excellent beef choices. In-bone prime rib is 32 ounces! Tasty although mine was a bit tough. I'd definitely go back and try it again. The service was terrific."

  • "We celebrated our 27th anniversary at Chicago Cut, and it was amazing! We sat outside with the view of the river and it was so relaxing. We both had the filet with a shrimp stuff w/crab, asparagus, & mushrooms and a bottle of excellent wine!!! We next enjoyed a great desert, but it was about to rain so they moved us under a covered area and the fun never missed a beat. Our waiter was the best, very attentive, and helpful. We had a great time and it just made our trip that much more enjoyable!"

  • "Review is for brunch eaten outdoors under the umbrella. Unique view of Chicago River. Very impressed with Peter as server. Virginia ham at brunch is a disaster - all salt."

  • "Very nice place with great service but for the price the food was just average. Have had much better steaks at other steakhouses. The view and wine list are great but for a steak guy I've had better."

  • "The restaurant is on the waterfront, so the view is spectacular and the ambience is warm and inviting!! We were warmly greeted and our server gave us some suggestions which were the best!! The food was delicious! The peach burrata salad was a wonderful first course. The Delmonico steak was excellent with our sides of Mac and Cheese and asparagus which were heavenly!!"

  • "The best steakhouse in the city with the best steaks in America. The bone-in filet is a wonderful expression of what steak should be. The Shrimp Cocktail is the the best, and the Iced Half Shell Oysters amazing . The wine list is the comprehensive wine I have seen anywhere. The service is excellent, and on our visit we had music on the Patio. This is by far the best Restaurant in Chicago."

  • "we dined at Chicago Cut for the first time for my birthday. I was looking forward to being "wowed" by the food but was disappointed. It was good, but not great and given the price of the entrees and sides, etc. the food should have been spectacular. It also would have been nice if the restaurant had done more to acknowledge my request for a table at the window, esp. since it was my birthday. Other restaurants go out of their way to read requests, and attempt to comply."

  • "Great Steak house in a city known for its steakhouses. Worth the trip. Wine list is tremendous."

  • "Excellent food and attention to detail. Great spot, especially if money is no object, since the ala carte approach can crank up the total"

  • "Chicago Cut is VERY loud and the traffic and proximity of the tables makes it a little too much to handle. The food makes up for this though. The steaks are excellent as are the bread and app options. The sides are disappointing. The corn tasted like it came out of a can. You should not miss CC if you are in town."

  • "Food quality is impeccable. Service was outstanding. Very accommodating to special requests. Only negative is in logistics of restaurant itself. Restaurant does not seem large enough to easily absorb its popularity. Tables very close and not much available space for walking. Many large groups and noise level inside extremely high, even compared to other steak houses in the area. Ambience is not great for anything other than business or tourists. Not recommended for a romantic night out or couples seeking seclusion for a special celebration. It's a hustle bustle place, not terribly relaxing. Food is its real saving grace."

  • "10th anniversary dinner. Fully expected to drop some money on a great meal. Bottom line is that this place is way overpriced for what you get. I mean the shrimp cocktail is like 22 dollars for 3 shrimp, wtf is that. 22 dollars for a chopped salad(which was admittedly phenomenal) was not worth it, there should have been left overs, I wanted more. The steak was good but smaller than I imagined. They did give us a celebratory cake for the occasion which we appreciated. I will also say our waitress was very good."

  • "I don’t think you can go wrong here! We had the most delicious, perfect steaks here. There are a lot of steakhouses in chicago to choose from, but believe the reviews & choose this one!"

  • "I want for brunch on Sunday for Father's Day and not only was the meal delicious, but I probably received the most outstanding service that I've ever received from a waiter (Joe). I look forward to our return!"

  • "My husband and I dined here over the weekend. The service was great, or food came quickly and our waitress was very attentive. The food was good but we doesn't think it was worth the price. I had a filet and my husband had the prime rib. We both agreed they were good but for the price we've had better. Glad we tried it but would go else where next time."

  • "There are lots of steakhouse choices in Chicago--this must be on everyone's short list. The prime rib was one of the best I've ever had, the wine list is extensive."

  • "Location was beautiful - we had a table on the river; waiter was very informative and accommodating. Steaks were substandard - certainly not prime level and not worth the prices. Go to Gibson's for the best steak!!!"

  • "We have been several times & never disappointed. The kale salad was refreshing, tried scallops this visit... Amazing & my husbands steak was cooked perfectly!"

  • "very good steaks. On the pricey side, but good quality. The tuna tartare was delicious. They really pack the tables in. I felt like the people at the tables next to us were part of our party. The woman next to us was actually staring at our food so much I almost asked her if she wanted a bite! It was very loud inside also. The food and pricing was what you would expect from a high end steak house."

  • "I've actually been here before and was very pleased. I took my husband here for Father's Day as he's never been. While he was very happy w/his meal, my steak was terrible which was crazy for what we paid. There was so much fat and grissle that after I had to spit out three of the first four bites, I had the rest wrapped and my husband was going to try to tackle it on another day. The scalloped potatoes were excellent as was the salad so I didn't leave hungry. Just slightly disappointed."

  • "I was very impressed with the overall service from this restaurant. The food was delicious- perhaps not as large of portions as I've received elsewhere but I don't think that's a huge deal. It all tasted wonderful, and the outdoor seating was right on the river. They had great wine recommendations as well. Very attentive."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "Disappointed service was terrible courses brought on top of each other. Food undercooked at these prices and with options in Chicago not good I could go on but"

  • "We had a group of five celebrating a birthday. The food was excellent. The staff was extremely attentive. The noise became difficult to deal with after the restaurant became full but it did not hinder the wonderful experience we had. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to make sure their dinner experience is excellent."
