A word from Chicago Cut Steakhouse
Chicago Cut Steakhouse redefines Chicago's steak-centric dining scene with signature USDA-certified prime beef, which is hand cut and dry aged on site. A variety of made-to-order cuts are joined by eight different fish options, shellfish, chops, an array of hearty side dishes and more on the extensive dinner menu. The restaurant also serves the city's best "power breakfast," as well as a dynamic lunch service featuring carving stations in the bar area with prime rib, ham and turkey. Chicago Cut's expansive surroundings feature a lively bar area framed by dramatic wine display cases; vibrant red velvet banquettes and spacious dining tables; and sweeping views of the Chicago River. A sprawling outdoor patio lining the riverside attracts diners throughout the day and well into the evening. Special touches abound, such as the restaurant's global wine list, which is presented to the guest via an interactive iPad program.Continued

  • "Delicious food, amazing service, and great experience overall. Gorgeous views of the city make this the ideal spot to take out of town guests."

  • "We arrived a little early to get a drink at the bar and enjoy the ambience. The bar area was a very poor experience. Took 35 minutes to get drink, despite not being very busy. I asked the waitress twice for a menu, 4 times for a glass of water, and twice for my drink. Very poor show. Fortunately the service in the restaurant was phenomenal, we were given a great table, a lot of help navigating the wine-list, and generally had a fantastic experience. The food was excellent. We had the Lostercargots, Tuna Tartare, both of which were exceptional - the lobstercargots in particular is an unbelievably rich and delicious dish - would come back just for this!!!! Steaks + wine = excellent!"

  • "I had the bone in Ribeye and my wife had a filet. Both of our entrees were cooked perfectly. The best steak, and one of the best meals I have had to date. Our server, Jamie made our experience that much better. She made great suggestions (was not pushy) and made us feel special as we were celebrating an anniversary."

  • "I normally dine at Chicago Cut for business lunches or dinners, where the service is excellent. My wife and I tried Chicago Cut for a Sunday breakfast--it was one of the best breakfasts we have had. Highly recommend it."

  • "tables are too close together and way too loud. wait staff had to keep bumping into patrons to serve other tables. we could not have conversations, which made the overall experience less than enjoyable."

  • "A bit expensive but in my opinion the best steakhouse in Chicago. The patio views of the city and river are breath taking. The dry age steaks are incredible and the scene at the bar is energetic to say the least. The quality of the meats pust Gibsons wet aging to shame.. My wife perfers seafood and in her opinion the quality eqauls the meat.."

  • "Everybody knows Chicago is a great steak town. There are many wonderful restaurants that feature beef, large portions, lots of "sides," and a great wine list. Chicago Cut is in the top 5, if not first or second. I took a guest from NY to the "Cut" about 2 years ago. Now, he doesn't want to go anywhere else when he's here. I can't say that I blame him. We sat outside at a riverside table. The weather was very cooperative. The traffic and "L" noise level really didn't detract from the overall experience. Just great food and a great time."

  • "I get to Chicago Cut frequently for breakfast. The menu is solid, with choices from about $7 to whatever you want, and the service in the morning is as good as you'd expect from a high-end restaurant at night. Far from a hash-house at (nearly) Greek diner prices. On this particular day, I was meeting a new business contact and the conversation lasted well over two hours. They were setting up for lunch while we were still talking, but the waiter--who had been paid a long time earlier--continued to check in on us and our water glasses and coffee cups were filled as often as we needed. That's the kind of attention that makes me a fan."

  • "Good: the place has superb steak, good service and a nice view overlooking the Chicago River in the heart of downtown. Bad: because it's in the business district it's crowded week nights and can get a bit noisy. Overall: will go back next time I am in Chicago. Would highly recommend if you are looking for good steak."

  • "poor meal. Steak overcooked x2 other steak quite small--overpriced would not return"

  • "I like having lunch here because the portions are nice and service is relatively quick. It is just a bit too loud for my taste, so I would not recommend for anything other than casual business lunches. I have heard that they have great power breakfast which I may try at some point."

  • "Our service was phenomenal. I've eaten at Chicago Cut a lot and I absolutely Love the Bone in Filet but I must say, this time around, it wasnt as great as it normally was. It was actually pretty dry even though it was cooked med rare plus. In hindsight, I probably should have sent it back. I was a little disappointed as this is my favorite and I always order it but on Sunday, it just wasnt up to par and for a $70 steak, it should be PHENOMENAL! Service A+++++"

  • "There were seven of us for a late lunch, early dinner on Sunday for my sisters birthday. We had a (albeit well behaved) 5 year old in our group, and the staff, and specifically our waiter Matt could not have been more friendly and accommodating to him. His service was stellar throughout our meal, and the food predictably delicious and perfectly prepared. The complimentary desserts were the finishing touch to a perfect afternoon. Thank you Chicago Cut!"

  • "Everything about Chicago Cut was perfect. We were seated on the patio - not too close to large groups as we were only two. The waiter (Justin) was so polite, knowledgeable and gave us our dessert on the house since the wine was late. They have an iPad for their drink menu which was really cool and the food was delicious. Nothing too fancy - I knew what every ingredient was and the meat was delicious."

  • "A great! place to eat! the food was very tasty! the atmosphere was very pleasant and the view was awesome! looking out the window of downtown chicago. The staff was very attentive to the guest. Our family enjoyed the meal. We recommend to family and friends."

  • "Mostly ended there. The filet was good but Rib-eye no so good, yes I know its aged and all but if you are gonna ask $59 for a rib-eye thats not even an inch thick you might suggest to your customers to under cook a little. Steamed Spinach was good and Caesar was good as well."

  • "My family all raved about their entrees! Filets, bone in rib eyes and chicken parmasean. Everything was delicious! The service was excellent from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. This was our first time dining here. We had a 9pm reservation. We waited about 15 minutes. Most of our party waited outside while my dad and I had a martini at the bar. We were celebrating my mom and daughters birthday. My son, who has many food allergies, was taken care of wonderfully. The only drawback was the noise level. The restaurant was full. My mom complained about the noise. But as the guests began to leave, it was more comfortable to hear and speak to each other. I would definitely like to dine outside next time."

  • "My son had graduated from Navy Boot Camp and we had decided to have dinner here. Not only was the steak top of the line but the service was over the top. We were treated with warmth, precise attention and was loaded with the best the service ever received. Thank you so much for this awesome experience which made our day that much more special. Steak Cut Steakhouse is by far the best restaurant experience in Chicago!"

  • "Not my first visit to CCS but for sure the least impressive. My first complaint simply is the noise level. Absurd. A conversation among four of us at a square table was a shouting match. Next is the chopped salad: chopped so small it almost seems pureed, too much dressing, and simply too little substance for the price, even after chicken was added (an extra cost). Our wait person was initially attentive than not so much. The time between soup service and entrees was too long particularly after first course was cleared and still another 15 minutes before the next course. With all the staff flitting around, you would think CCS can do better. Not your finest hour."

  • "Went to Chicago Cut for the first time when some relatives were in town. We got a nice outdoor table right on the river with a fantastic view! Unfortunately, it started to rain, but the staff quickly and efficiently moved our table (food and all) to cover under an awning, but still with a view. Food was delicious and enjoyed talking to Matt, the managing partner. All staff was knowledgeable and courteous. Overall a fantastic experience."

  • "The staff couldn't have been better or more helpful. The food was delicious. The Chilean Sea Bass was amazing and the bone in rib steak was so tender and flavorful and large enough to share. Definitely will look forward to coming back. Todd was an amazing waiter."

  • "Chicago Cut was above and beyond: from the steaks to the wine list, the view to the dessert - nothing is better. Make a reservation, get there early, and DEFINITELY ask about the specials"

  • "Steak was decent. I had the filet and my partner had the Delmonico. My daughter had the Fettucine, which was probably the best dish! The asparagus was so so. Potatoes were ok as well. Service was great. Very friendly and accommodating. Ambience a bit close and noisy. Overall ok."

  • "We had a fantastic time at Chicago Cut Steakhouse, we had requested a nice table as we are on honeymoon from Ireland and we were given a fantastic table outside over viewing the Chicago skyline. From the moment we arrived we were given the warmest of welcomes and we met with the manager Paul who went above and beyond to give us some tourist tips for places to see while we were in Chicago. All the staff were lovely and it shows as the place was buzzing. The food was out of this world and we would highly recommend anyone visiting Chicago to check this place out."

  • "Had a great experience at this steakhouse. I think our server's name was Todd, he made the dinner an event. :-) Five women , one guy made light hearted jokes throughout the evening. We are a group dine out frequently and we all agree their Lobsterscagot was one of the best sinful appetizers we have had in a long time. Butter, ton of cheese, and lobster. What!!!!!!!!"

  • "Perfectly shucked east coast oysters to start out. Fantastic steaks perfectly done with a traditional Chicago style char on the outside. The wine list was fantastic on a touch screen pad and had a great price range. Our server Justin M was extremely knowledgeable and helped us choose sides and wine to compliment the meal. Fun little key lime desert perfect for a summer birthday to end it all. This steakhouse is a gem."

  • "Waited a long time to make it to Chicago cut. Service and ambiance were top notch - sat outside on the patio for dinner. Service was excellent (thank you Holly)! Great spot to share a meal with a friend or family member. I encourage you to treat yourself and book a reservation. Everything was excellent. Still dreaming of the whitefish encrusted with sweet potatoes, as well as the truffled potatoes..."

  • "I've eaten at a lot of the great steakhouses in Chicago and elsewhere. I had high expectations since I had heard such good things about Chicago Cut. However, I was disappointed. I had a Filet Mignon, which had a heavy char flavor that really overpowered the steak and I couldn't taste much else. My husband had the bone-in Filet, which had a bit more flavor, but still was extremely char-heavy. We had the truffled scallop potatoes, mac n cheese, and grilled asparagus as sides. The asparagus was good, mac n cheese OK, and the cheese/bacon topping on the potatoes was very good, but the actual potatoes were lacking. Just nothing memorable. Berry cobbler a la mode for dessert was excellent. Overall, there are far better places in town!"

  • "The Service, Food, Wine List, and Ambiance were all at the highest level. I had a group of 5 attend lunch with me we all talked afterwards about what a wonderful place this is. The wine list is long and very deep. Steaks were amazing and cooked to perfection (I suggest the Cajun rub. Mind Blowing). The appetizers were not for the dieting or health nuts, but oh are they worth it. The only disappointment was that it was too cold for us to eat on the patio which overlooks the river. Would have loved to enjoy all of this in that setting. Definitely going back on a warm day to give the patio another shot and sample more amazing dishes. THIS IS A MUST VISIT ESTABLISHMENT!"

  • "The overall space of this restaurant is small, but they bring to you a larger than life experience in the food quality and the attentiveness of the servers and wait staff. My guests who joined me for lunch were a little overwhelmed at the sizes of their portions, but raved about the taste and presentations. Great job! I'll definitely be back."
