A word from Chicago Cut Steakhouse
Chicago Cut Steakhouse redefines Chicago's steak-centric dining scene with signature USDA-certified prime beef, which is hand cut and dry aged on site. A variety of made-to-order cuts are joined by eight different fish options, shellfish, chops, an array of hearty side dishes and more on the extensive dinner menu. The restaurant also serves the city's best "power breakfast," as well as a dynamic lunch service featuring carving stations in the bar area with prime rib, ham and turkey. Chicago Cut's expansive surroundings feature a lively bar area framed by dramatic wine display cases; vibrant red velvet banquettes and spacious dining tables; and sweeping views of the Chicago River. A sprawling outdoor patio lining the riverside attracts diners throughout the day and well into the evening. Special touches abound, such as the restaurant's global wine list, which is presented to the guest via an interactive iPad program.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The first Easter Brunch at Chicago Cut was outstanding. A vast array of seafood, Ham, Prime Rib to die for. And a full selection of breakfast goodies. The dessert table was unbelievable. This was the First time they had a buffet brunch and I hope they repeat again soon. "

  • "We had our Easter Brunch at Chicago Cut and due to a large number of people joining us, we needed to move our reservation to 2:00 pm. While our table was ready and service was outstanding our only critique was that they ran out of oysters and crab legs by the time we were served. Although we thouroughly enjoyed the rest of the brunch, it was somewhat dissappointing because several in our party were looking forward to the crab legs. I would highly recommend this fantastic brunch but will go earlier next time."

  • "everything was wonderful except it was very loud--had to lean in and speak loudly to the person across the table (a 2 top)--the room is big and open and glass, so i don't think they can do anything about it. if i was going again for a nice lunch i would go at an off hour"

  • "I don't think you can ask for anything more from a steakhouse. The décor was traditional to the steakhouse style but not dated, the ambiance was lively but not club-ish, the service was engaging but not intrusive and the food was the highlight...which is what you want from a restaurant! Really couldn't have been any better."

  • "I visited Chicago Cut Steakhouse on a Saturday afternoon at around 4:30. The restaurant was basically empty, with only a few customers there. However, the service was terrible. The waiter quickly stopped by my table to inquire regarding whether my wife or I wanted drinks. After that, he essentially disappeared for over 15 minutes without taking our order. I observed the waiters around the bar talking and texting on their phone. After about 15-20 minutes of waiting, my wife and I decided to leave the restaurant, which finally caught the attention of the waiter. It was too late. At a fine dining establishment, one expects impeccable service. Unfortunately, that did not occur at Chicago Cut in my last visit."

  • "I've visited your restaurant on several occasions, most often late at night, and I must say that I was slightly disappointed in the service I received last night. The food was amazing but the server that we had was not as attentive as I am use to from this establishment. I did not feel very welcomed nor appreciated as a customer. There are many great steakhouses in Chicago but what distinguishes the good from the great is service. I hope this incident was a minor glitch in the system."

  • "If you are looking for a quiet spot for a romantic dinner, this definitely not your spot. Noise level is off the charts. However, the steaks were great! Our server was attentive and very helpful. So if you want a great steak go to Chicago Cut. If you want a great steak and talk to your friends go elsewhere."

  • "This is the benchmark of service! I need to return to other reviews and edit my 5 star ratings for service as no other restaurant compares to Chicago Cut Steakhouse. Not only was service efficient, but every member of the staff was pleasant and engaging. They offered wonderful suggestions. For cocktails, I sampled the Moscow Mule, Chicago 75, and Northside. All were nicely prepared and presented. We ordered the bone-In NY Strip (cooked to perfection), Prime Burger, French Onion Soup (some of the best we’ve ever tried and we’ve tried many), grilled asparagus (delicious), and broccoli/spinach. We topped off our meal by sharing the sea salt caramel gelato. A perfect dining experience - location, service, food, and ambiance!"

  • "Although the attire/uniforms give the impression of stuffiness/ stiffness; Our waiter was very warm and friendly."

  • "The room is rather nice, if a little staid: red plush banquettes, dark wood. There's a slight hint of the little kid trying on Dad's suits and making an important face. Hosts were welcoming and smiley, if a little brisk. Our waiter, though? Not so much. I half expected him to ask me if I really claimed to be Abe Froman. He "lost" my starter order, and rather than apologising, his first instinct was to challenge me. This was partially fixed by complimentary desserts, but only partially: we didn't want them. Steaks were good (mine) and excellent (OH's). Sides were large, fries overly salty. But the place feels noisy, rushed, and a touch arrogant. I've eaten in Michelin-starred places which were infinitely humbler. It goes a long way."

  • "They pack so many tables into the restaurant that the waiters can hardly move around. I was hit in the head and back by servers' elbows and trays numerous times during the meal. If that wasn't bad enough, I ordered the bone-in filet (a $62 cut of steak) and it was overcooked. All-in-all I would save your money for somewhere else."

  • "Recommended to try above Keefers and Smyth & Woolenskys #excited. Wine we ordered wasn't available, waiter brought another without apologies or consultation. Starter came promptly & was delicious however as I put down my knife & fork the plate was taken away & my main course was put in front of me. The "silver service" of the veg was disturbing, an abundance of very tasty asparagus placed on my plate, I could barely see my steak & again the same process with the spinach, requested a side plate to remove these so we could eat. After mains we ordered another glass of wine and no dessert, before we knew it we had the bill on our table. We were still drinking our wine and had intended to order coffee......not sure I could recommend or return. "

  • "The food was great and the service was excellent! But it was very crowded and after making reservations we should have gotten a table where we didn't have to worry about all the waiters dropping their food orders on us. Not a good spot for an intimate night out. Great location and scenery. Two blocks from Epic for soming evening dancing and Celeste for a drink and a more intimate close to your evening. "

  • "This is by far the best steakhouse I've visited in Chicago! They serve food until 1:30 a.m., which is amazing and very convenient after theatre. Their steaks are delectable and the sides are huge! The cheesecake, carrot cake, berry crumble and chocolate cake are among the most delicious desserts I've had!"

  • "The food and service are always outstanding here. I just wish they could do something about the noise level, which can become a bit overwhelming in the evening!"

  • "I've been to Chicago Cut a number of times and it's always been good, but not my favorite. This time however, Nantucket Scallops were in season... and holy sh......... they were simply the best I've ever had. The steaks were perfect as well, but the scallops overshadowed the night. My girlfriend even liked them and she hates scallops. Tables are close and it's a bit loud, but still a great spot for lunch or dinner."

  • "I found the chicago steak house to be a very pleasant place to dine, the view of the city was great and the steak was great, also the service was outstanding, I was only drinking water but my glass was always refreshed. Keep up the great service I would recomemend to all my friends that dine out."

  • "This is the second time I have been to Chicago Cut. The food was good, steak cooked as I ordered it and the sides were done nicely. However, the tables have been pushed so close together that the waiter could not come around to my side of the table. I had to reach over my the table to receive my plates and hand everything off to the clearing staff. Not exactly what I want to do in a restaurant that is charging the prices Chicago Cut do. The noise level is very high-if you want to talk to your friends during dinner go someplace else."

  • "My boyfriend and I frequent steakhouses in Chicago, but Friday night was the first time we ate here. We enjoyed the view, and felt the sides were great portion sizes. My boyfriend ordered the bone in ribeye medium rare, and it came to him medium-well. Also, it was extremely dry.....not the type of Ribeye we expected at Chicago cut. My filet was very good and I did enjoy mine. I also believe he may have been served the bone in filet by accident and there may have been a mix up."

  • "My wife and I had a great meal with wonderful steaks. Overall, the food, most of the staff, and atmosphere made up for any flaws. We felt like our waiter did his best but was rushed serving too many tables. The IPad wine list slowed things down and there were too many desserts to recite at a customer. The appetizers, salad, and soup came out on top of each other."

  • "In a town full of steak places, Chicago Cut is just another steak place. The dining room is crowded (tables are VERY close). They seated us about 30 minutes after our reservation. The waiter, who didn't write anything down, was pleasant, but brought us an item we decided not too order. The steaks were good, but nothing spectacular. Ratings might be better if all of this wasn't priced 15-20% higher than other steak houses, although nothing about the meal was spectacular in the least. You have go a long way to convince me your steak is worth $55-$60 and Chicago Cut didn't make the Cut. I'd stick with some of the tried and true Chicago steak houses or Steak / Stone Crab places before visiting Chicago Cut again."

  • "When dining out, I expect the restaurant staff to be able to suggest a particular dish that is exceptional. The waitress who served my party suggested that I look around to see what others are eating. In addition to the waitress not knowing what to eat, she was quite rude. There were several occasions she interrupted our party's conversation without a simple "excuse me" or waiting for a break in our conversation. When asked for our order after sitting for less than 5 mins I replied, "please give us a few minutes.". Her reply was, " Oh you need to catch up with each other first.". I wanted the 8oz fillet med rare. It was pink, mostly well done."

He's a steak kinda guy so this place had to be visited. Food was amazingly delicious and service was beyond professional and comforting. Definitely a Must-Go restaurant."

  • "Our original reservation was cancelled due to a special event that was booked at the restaurant, but the staff made every effort to make sure we were taken care of when we came the following night. The food was amazing, our waiter Justin B was fantastic! he made our celebration for Joe's 30th birthday very special, he was friendly, entertaining and very efficient. He made good recommendations with popular menu items and portion sizes… we both left pleasantly full! I would definitely recommend The Cut to my friends and family… especially the bone in fillet- YUM!"

  • "My wife and I came here after a performance at Lyric Opera House on a weekend jaunt and were thrilled we had an early seating were not rushed and had plenty of time to make the train the food was outstanding it is a bit pricey but probably not by Chicago standards. They are very accommodating and I believe this restaurant has one of the most impressive wine lists I have ever seen as it caters to a very sophisticated wine clientele. They were even to able to treat us to a dessert , which we split ,sincet we are friends with one of the owners. This is my fourth time to eat at this restaurant and will continue to do so. The service, presentation and food are just what one would expect. All in all, it was a delightful evening."

  • "We love this place. Crowded...yes...but you would expect that when a restaurant has such a great Location, extensive wine list, wonderful service and steaks and fish that are always perfect. Lots of steak places in Chicago, no doubt some very very good ones. Chicago Cut has become our Favorite."

  • "We dined here my fiancé birthday. We bought a bottle of christal which was served by our waiter, great. The ambiance is nice but the seating is tight and you are disturbed by others if they need to get up. The dishes have fancy names but don't taste good for the price. The steak was not tenderized prior to cooking so it was tough. The drinks were not good and the sides weren't either. Overall this restaurant is over rated and would not return nor recommend anyone."

  • "Strong performer in the great steak house race. Would rank them even with Gibsons in terms of the food quality. Nice room but a little crowded and can be noisy when busy. Service is a bit overbearing and courses come out way too quickly. At these prices I don't like to be pushed"
