We had friends in from out of town and thought we'd try a close restaurant before a show. First impression was 'nice, bright and open' but as the night wore on it seemed more apparent the place was struggling to define itself. It may eventually be worth the $$$ once the newness is ironed out - from staff experience and familiarity with the menu down to the volume and what music is playing. Can't say any one thing was poor but falls short of the high end establishment it was trying to be - except pricing. While enthusiastic, the staff seemed to be in their late 20s.. seemed torn between wanting to be Hy's but acting like Earls (both of which I enjoy but for different occasions). May try CCH again once it grows up and finds itself.

First time there, Reserved in advance and asked for a nice quite table for two. - Sat us beside the entrance to the kitchen with no door. - Waited 5 minutes before anyone came to the table. - Asked for another table, were told by the manager; Sorry but somebody has to sit there, after telling us that they were booked solid he finally moved us to the front entrance. most of the other tables and booths were empty even by the time we left 2 hours later. - Had to ask twice for a second glass of wine. - Had the $110.00 Chateaubriand with 2 sides Onion Rings and Roasted Potatoes. they brought it to the table on a platter with 2 white plates to serve our self. Then to top it off we got the bill for $191.00 plus GST and tip.

This was an amazing experience from start to finish! Our server was knowledgeable and intuitive! She was aware that we were celebrating a birthday. All of our steaks were flavourful and cooked to our specifications. Mashed potatoes were delicious. Carrots were sweet. We were too full for dessert :( We will come back!

While my wife and I were staying in Calgary at the Delta Bow Valley we caught the add in their welcome book. Had many meals at the Delta Hotel but decided to have our "special" (departing town) meal at the Chicago Chop House. Long story short - rediculously overpriced - even for Calgary - food ho-hum, and service ho-hum. Made a point of telling manager that I had a pepper steak at the Delta the evening before which was 10 times better at 1/3 the price! Gave our server a 20% tip just because it wasn't her fault. Will never go back.

Went there for dinner before the theatre as the new location is perfect for that. Made a reservation for the dining are but it was full and got seated in the " lounge area". Our pre dinner cocktails were poorly made using the bar gin and vodka when we had requested a specific brand and the dinner continued to go downhill from there. Ordered a 2000 chateau margeaux - didnt decant and did not have bordeaux glasses. The 10 oz striploin was poor quality and the sides were so poorly cooked we sent them back. When we complained no one really did anything and the excuse was new owners. would never go back or recommend this restaurant.

I finally got to check out the new location and it looks absolutely amazing!! Our food and service were great once again!. I brought a client in from out of town and he was amazed by the steak presentation we were given by our server. So happy to see they have kept the lobster mac and cheese and the same great steaks they had at the old place! I will definitely be coming back!

Restaurant was very empty with only a few patrons dining on a Saturday night. Two steaks were returned to the kitchen as they were over cooked. The 2nd steaks were not cooked any better. Manager came by and apologized and comped the 2 steaks and 4 desserts. Server was very apologetic and she was very good.

For second vista Stella beer not available. Salmon complete dinner. Vegetables were cold and the mashed potatoes lumpy. Steaks were very nice. Side of spinach taste was not to my liking. Three of four people had apple crisp with ice cream. It was agree by all it was far too spicy. Service could have a been more attentive. Maybe more staff are needed. The location is wonderful for going to performances at the Centre but we agreed we would not go again except on a very cold night. We hope there is improvement because it is a perfect place to dine pre concert.

First impressions of this restaurant were great - lovely architecture and design - great downtown location. But it was all downhill from there. The menu as written was relatively limited, especially for steak which is supposed to be the focus of the restaurant. What was worse is that as soon as we started to narrow our choices - the server came and reported that nearly a third of the items on the menu were not available. She was profusely apologetic - to the point of annoyance, and continued to hover around and chat to us anxiously for the rest of the meal. The dishes that we did choose were mediocre at best - overcooked and lacking freshness and vibrancy. Prices were steep, especially given one has to purchase side dishes separately.

$9.00 for water? Nothing at all accompanying a $40 steak? Really? For the quality of the food (ie.broccoli undercooked, Béarnaise sauce mediocre), and the prices being charged, there is no way I'd go back--obviously, recommending it to a friend is out of the question. Also, I understand the convenience of being able to keep the wine list current when it is on a tablet, but in my opinion, it lacks class to put a tablet on the table as a wine list. Plus, the interface was annoying to deal with. A restaurant with pretentions of being more than it is. There are better options downtown.

All in all a very disappointing evening. Had been to the old location many times and was looking forward to a great meal before the theatre . Arrived with my family and had to weave through a noisy event to our table . There had been no mention of this when I reserved.the environment is sterile and not as welcoming as the old location.looked like only one girl working the tables and she did her best. Seared smoked scallops were over cooked on a bed of black beans, rib eye steaks came out cold to the touch and overdone, second attempt 1 was fine but the other was overlooked again Very thin cuts for a Calgary Steak House. Limited white wine selection. Not sure I would risk giving them another try. I loved the old place. Not the same feel now.

This was our first time eating at this restaurant and outside of the server (Diana)? Who was outstanding, the food was mediocre at best. The steaks and side were cold, the lobster tail and scallops were over cooked and over priced. At $100/person I expected better. We tipped the server definetly not the restaurant. Unfortunately we won't go back.

This was our first visit to the Chicago Chophouse. We enjoy beef and chose the Chicago Chophouse as they specialize in serving steaks. The variety of steaks were presented to us and we chose our steaks and vegetables. We like our steaks cooked rare and this is where we went from a pleasurable dining experience to poor. Our steaks arrived such that the interior was still raw and in particular my steak was still cold in the centre. To further dampen the evening my strip loin steak contained so much cartilage that only about half of it was edible. Chicago Chophouse did replace the steak. The manager was very concerned that this happened and made extra efforts to assure us that this was an unfortunate occurrence and should not have happened.

appetizer took more than half hour to arrive, and table bread even came stone cold later than my appetizer. Even server did explain to me why, but I just couldn't understand how hard it is to get out a single diner's food. Lamb chop taste alright, but it was like really really well done, surprised i was never been asked a temperature on the lamb as everywhere else does it. it's still a nice place to dine in, but hopefully food can be severed better next time.

Was pricey but I mean for a quality of the food didn't really madder. I went there last year as well and the new location is a lot more accessible, bigger and nicer. They were also reasonable with me changing my resorvation 4 times in an hour. I just like to say Thaks for the good time. Oh yeah and Bering shown the cuts of steak that's too cool.

It took us about 20 minutes to get our drinkstuff and about 50 minutes to receive our appetizersw we might have been more understanding if the restaurant was busy however it was very slow. we got the ribeyeas well as the gnocchi lobsterboth dishes were far too salty and drink service was so bad that we couldn't even get refills on our water fast enough. we let the waitress know how salty are food was she later came back to let us know that she told the chefbut he said he would not do anything about itdefinitely the most disappointing restaurant I have booked with through open tablewe shall not be returning!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Chop House in late July. Our server, Jason was absolutely wonderful and he made excellent recommendations for both food and wine. The duck rillette was delicious and it was hard to choose whether the rib steak or tenderloin ragout was our favourite. The wines were great as well - Cape Crest Sauvignon Blanc from Hawkes Bay NZ is a new favourite as was the Blenhiem 2010 (?) cab sauvignon from Napa. It was a great evening all around.

I have not been to the Chicago Chop house before so I was excited to attend. The lunch menu was VERY expensive and not really worth the money I was charged. I had the Halibut burger. It was okay - I have had better. I thought about having a salad but it would have ben $24 if I had chicken on it. The restaurant was empty...they should take this as a signal...there isn't much in the area so they could really put the place on the map for lunch with all of the workers across the street. But with the prices and the quality I will be walking up the mall for other options.

Sadly, took 8 customers for dinner, and the food was poor. These guys were good at the last location, but it was not working for them here. service was great, but some of the menu was not available, and the steaks we had were over cooked. Some of the food was cold. Not sure if there has been a change of staff, or it was poor as they are getting used to the new location. Either way, not great.

They are still growing into the new location as was evidenced by our experience Sunday. Mere minutes into the evening, the fire alarm sounds from kitchen smoke due to inadequate ventilation. The fire dept turned it off 5-10 mins later. The staff apologized but said this was common. Despite a slow night, it took >10 mins once seated for waitress to take drink orders and ~10 mins to bring the wine list. There were more delays throughout as wait staff appeared confused looking for items. E.g. desert arrived with no spoons and waiter wandered between kitchen & bar 4 times before finding them. Ambience is a bit off-putting with harsh white walls & tables squeezed between pillars. Food was good but not spectacular. Not worth the $200 it cost.

The restaurant changed locations and did not notify their customers. This created a big mess! Everyone was going to their old location, paying for parking, only to walk to the doors and see the sign indicating they moved. The open table email confirmation, google and their own website did not provide the new address. We were extremely frustrated at this, on top of strambling to find the new address and notifying all the other guests. The guests were forced to pay double for parking because of this. Upon arrival, our table wasn't ready and we had to stand there while we watched the staff pull tables together. We had made reservations in advance for a party of 10. The food and staff were subpar at best. Extremely unhappy and frustrated!
