Diner Reviews
  • "Spent my 55th birthday with wife and children and we all truly enjoyed everything about the restaurant. The food was excellent, the service excellent, its small, intimate, vibrant and not a vacant seat during the time we were there."

  • "Loved the champagne veal dish and the mozzarella was fresh and homemade in the caprese salad."

  • "Great food, friendly service. We highly recommend going there for dinner. The fish is fresh, I love the calamari steak with pasta, my wife loves the halibut. There veal parmigiana is also very good."

  • "I went with 5 friends to celebrate a birthday and was impressed by the delicious food and the very hospitable service. It's a high end restaurant with a friendly atmosphere."

  • "The food is consistent and very good. Nice place to share time with friends and family. The wait staff is always pleasant and very gracious and friendly. Overall a good experience."

  • "The outdoor patio is a lovely place to dine and I appreciate that it has a high divider between it and the busy sidewalk. Mediterranean salad was superb, eggplant was good, flourless chocolate cake tasted very much store-bought, with too much frosting to seem authentic. Wine pour was generous, service very attentive. I'll be back but will order a different entree. This was ~my 5th visit here."

  • "Hosted a client for dinner. We sat in the front patio area outside. Service was very good and appetizer/main course/desert was definitely above average. Would definitely recommend!!! Both host (Taylor) and owner were very friendly."

  • "My only complaint is that they were not on top of refilling the water at my table"

  • "We decided to give this place a try. We really loved the food, my husband had the osso buco and I had the pork tenderloin. Service was slow, and we never really knew who our server was. We were offered dessert menus by two different employees before we got them. Our appetizer was brought out and the server said he would be back with plates. Then we saw him serving food to other tables and we just ended up using our bread plates for the appetizers. We were halfway done with the appetizers when we finally got the plates."

  • "Food is good but not service. Not very willing to accommodate late arrival instead being lectured. Their kitchen always closes earlier than others in the same neighborhood. Did not offer water refill. Overall service seems "cold"."

  • "I have dined at Chianti's several times and never been disappointed. There was four in our party, each had something different and we were all very pleased with our choice. I will definitely return."

  • "All meals were delicious, prepared and presented nicely. Service was excellent and the quiet atmosphere suited our taste. Meal prices for Italian food were a bit pricy but we will definitely be back. "

  • "We went for the first time to this restaurant on Sunday, for Mother's Day, our table outside and was quite nice. The meal was decent, nothing extroidinaray - but at the end when we went to present our Restaurant.com coupon - they told us that since this was a "holiday" they were not accepting coupons. It didn't say anything on the coupon about holiday's - nor were there any signs or mention of a special "holiday" menu. If they would have been a little more appologetic, or offered a small token of thanks for our business perhaps we would return, but now we will exchange the coupon, and never return. There are many great places in downtown Pleasanton to choose from...service is important."

  • "The restaurant has significantly improved its decor and food quality since we last went there a few years ago. No complaints at all and will definitely return for great Italian food."

  • "The food was great and was presented nicely. The servers were all friendly. My husband had the lamb shank and I had the calamari steak, and both were wonderful. They were served with mashed potatoes and vegetables and everything was delicious. There is a little patio for outdoor dining. I would definitely recommend Chianti's. We will definitely return."

  • "We typically go to Chianti about once a week. Went this past Saturday before attending the Music Man at the Firehouse Theather. Easy to park, quick walk to both. Had the Halibut and it was great and they didn't do a bad job with my pre-dinner cosmo either. Would recommend to anyone to come see what it is all about."

  • "The good and wine list was great. Good for quiet dining and also for special occasion. Very quaint. I would recommend the salads and also the Gorgonzola pollo. "

  • "Intimate, friendly ambience; tasty, well-prepared food; and pleasant service (plus some nice wines and a full bar) are the marks of a good neighborhood restaurant. We have enjoyed Chianti's each time we've eaten there, and will return again. "

  • "Do you enjoy Italian risotto recipes? You are going to want to try the Salmon Risotto....great texture and flavor! As for service, there is only one description, four star or better! "

  • "Went to Chianti's on a Sunday night (Easter). The place was not crowed and had tables outside which were nice. The staff was very friendly. Service was attentive without being obtrusive. The food was very, very good. Wine list was not excessive, but certainly adequate. I would definitely return to this charming little restaurant for lunch or dinner."

  • "After reading all of the reviews we decidedto try Chianti's. Well worth it. Have the gnocchi. We will be back. "

  • "The good was very good. There is a great selection of Italian and seafood from the menu. The indoor dining area is fairly small and became quite noisy when it got busy."

  • "My wife and I had a very nice dining experience at Chiantis. We found the service to be extremely attentive but helpful. The food quality and presentation is very nice. I had Veal Limone, my wife had prawns. Both dishes were very good, served warm and in generous portions.. They have a fun drink menu before dinner. They have a great warm bread with an oil and sun dried tomato puree before dinner, which is really good. You can dine in the restaurant or in a protected area on the sidewalk. We chose outside, which was really pleasant. The occasional motor cycle noise was annoying. Prices seemed fair for the quality. Our dishes were high teens to low twenties. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant and would come here again."

  • "Really good food. Good attention to our table needs. Prompt service. Our first visit to Chianti's and we plan to return."

  • "Our family of three had a very nice dining experience. The menu was very varied and we all enjoyed what we ordered. I requested extra veggies and no potato with my meal and was pleasantly accommodated. No complaints at all. I wouldn't say it was an extraordinary experience, but definitely an enjoyable one."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "The best thing about the meal was the bread and dip that you get with your meal. I had the limone which was really good. Salads were just ok. My husband had gnocchi and ventured to guess that they are not homemade and likely to be purchased. It was fair. I would not oppose to trying it again but I can think of other Italian restAurants in the area that are just as good or better"

  • "Chianti was a very extremely pleasant experience. I requested extremely specialized menu. They were very accommodating."

  • "This was my first time at Chianti's. While the dining room was a bit small, my group of five enjoyed an excellent meal while we visited. The wait staff was attentive and had good recommendations for us. The food was very good as it was a different take on your traditional Italian meals."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "The food was very over priced for a less than stellar meal. The bruchetta was served on bread that was neither warm or toasted so as you can imagine, it was very disappointing. The pasta had no homemade zeal and was swimming in the sauce that was lacking flavor. Don't order a cocktail bc $9.00 will get you a 3 to 4 oz. cocktail served in what looks like a child's tippy cup. . The positive part of dinner was that we were 25 minutes late to our reservation and they still honored it. That should have been our clue that Chiantis didn't have people banging the door down to get a table!!"

  • "If you're looking for GREAT Italian food, moderate to expensive, in the East Bay, look no further than this gem in downtown Pleasanton."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "The salmon with blueberry sauce was delicious. The asparagus, baby carrot, beans were cooked to perfection. The flourless chocolate cake was just so so. Nothing special about it."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We were sat down right away and several couples were seated after us. We had to wait at least 15 minutes before a server greeted us and the couples seated after us were greeted and already had food on the way. We didn't receive our salad for 45 minutes and the dinner took much longer - including being given the wrong food. We were not impressed with the service at all. The food was good though."

  • "Chianti's is wonderful! Great food and great service! When the weather is warm, we enjoy eating outside."

  • "Had such a great experiance as always at Chianti's. It was my Fiance's Birthday and they made us both feel very welcome. The food was wonderful as always and the service is always so friendly and warm. This is a must visit restarant in Down Town Pleasanton."

  • "I originally reserved a table for one but upon arriving at the restaurant, I found that immediately to the left of the entrance there is a small bar which is perfect for 1 person or 2 couples. I opted to sit there and was perfectly comfortable as I watched the action of the staff as they went about their business. I felt very welcomed even though I was sitting at the bar. The food is quite good and the selection of wine is great. I did scan the entire restaurant and found it to be very charming. When I return for my next meal, I will be sitting at a table unless as is rarely the case I am solo, in which case I will be back at the bar area. This restaurant is worth your visit...very enjoyable."
