Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I had a very nice dining experience at Chiantis. We found the service to be extremely attentive but helpful. The food quality and presentation is very nice. I had Veal Limone, my wife had prawns. Both dishes were very good, served warm and in generous portions.. They have a fun drink menu before dinner. They have a great warm bread with an oil and sun dried tomato puree before dinner, which is really good. You can dine in the restaurant or in a protected area on the sidewalk. We chose outside, which was really pleasant. The occasional motor cycle noise was annoying. Prices seemed fair for the quality. Our dishes were high teens to low twenties. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant and would come here again."

  • "Best food! Best prices! Best service in town! Just can't get enough of this restaurant. I NEVER go home with a doggie bag!!"

  • "Really good food. Good attention to our table needs. Prompt service. Our first visit to Chianti's and we plan to return."

  • "Our family of three had a very nice dining experience. The menu was very varied and we all enjoyed what we ordered. I requested extra veggies and no potato with my meal and was pleasantly accommodated. No complaints at all. I wouldn't say it was an extraordinary experience, but definitely an enjoyable one."

  • "The best thing about the meal was the bread and dip that you get with your meal. I had the limone which was really good. Salads were just ok. My husband had gnocchi and ventured to guess that they are not homemade and likely to be purchased. It was fair. I would not oppose to trying it again but I can think of other Italian restAurants in the area that are just as good or better"

  • "Chianti was a very extremely pleasant experience. I requested extremely specialized menu. They were very accommodating."

  • "This was my first time at Chianti's. While the dining room was a bit small, my group of five enjoyed an excellent meal while we visited. The wait staff was attentive and had good recommendations for us. The food was very good as it was a different take on your traditional Italian meals."

  • "The food was very over priced for a less than stellar meal. The bruchetta was served on bread that was neither warm or toasted so as you can imagine, it was very disappointing. The pasta had no homemade zeal and was swimming in the sauce that was lacking flavor. Don't order a cocktail bc $9.00 will get you a 3 to 4 oz. cocktail served in what looks like a child's tippy cup. . The positive part of dinner was that we were 25 minutes late to our reservation and they still honored it. That should have been our clue that Chiantis didn't have people banging the door down to get a table!!"

  • "Had such a great experiance as always at Chianti's. It was my Fiance's Birthday and they made us both feel very welcome. The food was wonderful as always and the service is always so friendly and warm. This is a must visit restarant in Down Town Pleasanton."

  • "If you're looking for GREAT Italian food, moderate to expensive, in the East Bay, look no further than this gem in downtown Pleasanton."

  • "We were sat down right away and several couples were seated after us. We had to wait at least 15 minutes before a server greeted us and the couples seated after us were greeted and already had food on the way. We didn't receive our salad for 45 minutes and the dinner took much longer - including being given the wrong food. We were not impressed with the service at all. The food was good though."

  • "The salmon with blueberry sauce was delicious. The asparagus, baby carrot, beans were cooked to perfection. The flourless chocolate cake was just so so. Nothing special about it."

  • "I originally reserved a table for one but upon arriving at the restaurant, I found that immediately to the left of the entrance there is a small bar which is perfect for 1 person or 2 couples. I opted to sit there and was perfectly comfortable as I watched the action of the staff as they went about their business. I felt very welcomed even though I was sitting at the bar. The food is quite good and the selection of wine is great. I did scan the entire restaurant and found it to be very charming. When I return for my next meal, I will be sitting at a table unless as is rarely the case I am solo, in which case I will be back at the bar area. This restaurant is worth your visit...very enjoyable."

  • "I had the lamb osso buco and my friend had a seafood pasta. The food was good. Not the best I've had, but it was a good meal. I also had the bruchetta. Once again, good but not great. I found the service to be extremely attentive and very pleasant. The only complaint I had was that I felt rushed. I can't stand a dining experience where the wait staff are constantly asking to take my non empty plate. Sometimes when the restaurant is crowded and people are waiting, I can understand it. But on this evening there were plenty of tables and no one waiting. This is a nice little spot with good food at a reasonable price. I would definitely go back and I recommend it to others looking for nice Italian meal in a small restaurant setting."

  • "We chose this restaurant for a special lunch with friends because of its location, midway between our locations. Our group has very diverse food preferences and it is not easy to select a restaurant that pleases everyone, but this was a hit -- all were pleased with the selections and delighted with the quality, freshness, service and location. We also split a bottle of chianti that was better than we expected and a great value."

  • "Food was actually ok, but service and attitude at this place very depressing. Not very friendly staff...everyone seems so unhappy. Will definitely not come back. NOT family friendly for sure."

  • "Overall food was pretty decent. Not sure what is up with the choice of servers but all male and possibly all middle eastern. Not very friendly. Owner or manager told me right off the back no promotions or coupons could be used. I guess I look cheap."

  • "Food was very good, and we all had a great time. Portion sizes were very good, not too much. Bread baked fresh, and excellent. Salad ingredients separated on plate, which was different. Noise level got progressively louder as the restaurant filled up. We went for a family birthday celebration. Restaurant didn't do anything special to mark the birthday as typically done. Street parking was very easy to find, and we had 3 cars. We look forward to going again, and recommend others give it a try."

  • "Our first time visiting Chianti's and we were very happy with the food, service, and ambiance for our Christmas Eve celebration. Service was attentive and generous. Jambalaya was the family favorite, with tiramisu for dessert! A very nice small neighborhood restaurant; I will be back for summer outside dining for sure!"

  • "Last minute Xmas night dinner plans turned out to be great timing! We had the Pettini appetizer, which was outstanding! Only wished I had more bread to get the last of the pesto sauce! Then I had the jambalaya, my others had the gamberoni and the grannchio. All were so outstanding that no one wanted to share! Highly recommend for real Italian food! I'm going again!"

  • "This is a first generation Italian restaurant. The menu had a nice variety of food choices. I had the Ossobuco and my husband had the Cannoli. Both were really good. It is not a large restaurants, so the noise level was moderate and not the best choice for young children. We would definitely go again."

  • "The food was excellent, with a good sized menu. The sevice was very good, fast and curtious. The veiws are nice from the one table they gave us at the window. The place was small and noisey. They did their best to make my first date a pleasant one. Now if they could only get a bigger place with booths, I would consider it more private and romantic. Over all I would recomend going there."

  • "Very good local east bay classic Italian restaurant. Small dinning room. All dishes appeared to be made to order. Had the Fruite De Mare and it was good. Wine list is small but does have some nice options."

  • "Everything was great from the time we walked in the door until we walked out again, with two minor exceptions: The noise level was not conducive to conversation. Also, as a critic I will say that billing lamb shank as "Osso Bucco" was a mistake. (obviously) It was good, but mislabeled! My risotto with seafood was exceptional. Because my husband and I are small eaters, we shared a dinner salad, which turned out to be a smart move because even the small size was very generous. The freshly baked bread was a real treat, especially with their sundried tomato/olive oil dip. Bottom line: I can feel good about recommending Chianti's. I would definitely go back!"

  • "This was our second time there and once again it was excellent we both had the veal. I had veal champagne and my friend had the veal with lemon butter sauce. Very generous servings. Enough to share. Salads were both good and service was outstanding. We'll be back!"

  • "Basic spaghetti and meatballs covered with red sauce type of Italian restaurant. Nothing interesting."
    Dined on 12/6/2013
  • "Our food was tasty and well presented but small portioned. My companions all enjoyed their food. From a value standpoint, it is hard for me to appreciate paying so much for pasta. The Mista salad was served with the parts separated which then required me to blend on a plate - just a nuisance to me. For my own salads, I like them fully blended before serving except for any topping. The staff was reasonably attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere was reserved with most tables occupied by the AARP generation. The restaurant was too hot on a cool night so for me it became uncomfortable."

  • "On a recent Thursday evening, Chianti's was almost full with diners enjoying a convivial atmosphere and good food. We were greeted graciously and seated promptly. There were many tempting items on the menu. We both liked our petrale sole stuffed with fresh Dungeness crab--very good. The full bar is a nice option often lacking in California restaurants. Service was efficient and well done. We'll definitely return!"

  • "It's a small bistro type restaurant with Main Street sidewalk seating. The food was excellent in its preparation, presentation, and flavor. Ordered the Pettini appetizer which was not overwhelmingly pesto. You get four which was plenty of food. The ossobuco and chicken parmigiana were well prepared and presented. The only downfall was the service was a bit slow but I count that to an early dinner so we were being served by the manager or owner before the actual server came at 5 pm. It actually slowed down the pace of our meal and allowed us to enjoy the ambiance and company even more. Overall this is a place we will be going to again and again."
