Diner Reviews
  • "Paul, our waiter, was outstanding, even though it was a busy night. The food and selection was top quality for very reasonable prices."

  • "We really enjoy Italian food and are at the age where fast food or chain food is not very appealing. This place was authentic and quite possibly the best meal we have ever eaten in a restaurant. Everything from wine through dessert was superb! The staff was courteous and attentive but not "smothering." Their warmth seemed genuine and the entire experience was a stellar event!"

  • "This review would easily be 4 stars save for the fact that the layout of the restaurant is cramped and somewhat uncomfortable to render a totally pleasurable dining experience. There is not enough space between the tables and you constantly notice the wait staff dodging and dancing their way around the floor, weaving between tight spaces between tables and coming quite close to contact with the diners. This is unfortunate as the food and service is quite good and wine list is ample. It appears that the kitchen venting problem has been addressed as we did not notice kitchen odors in the dining area as we had in the past. The quality of food is why we continue to visit this restaurant though now unlikely during the peak weekend dinner hours."

  • "I come back here often. The first glimpse of the dining room when you enter is memorable. The white tablecloths and the sparkling glassware make an instant favorable impression. We are always greeted immediately, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is exceptional, and the menu is varied. Really something for every palate. Service is efficient and unobtrusive. As a plus, parking is easy, and the restaurant is conveniently located. I have been a guest here many times and have never been disappointed."

  • "We requested a table against the wall and instead were seated at a very small table, inches from the tables on either side where you could hear the entire conversations of those patrons and so surely they could hear ours. Very disappointing."

  • "I am always glad to see restaurants busy. However in this case, this translated to a high level of noise. While you could carry on a conversation, you could also hear your dining neighbor's conversation as well. The seating was tight which attributed to the noise level; as there were "happy" tables to our right and behind us. The food and portions were good. The reservation was honored in a very timely fashion. I would return but perhaps later in the night or not on a Saturday."

  • "This restaurant is in a small strip mall west of Cherry Creek state park off Yosemite, and you wouldn't necessarily expect to find such a gem in that setting. But this place obviously has a very loyal following. It was packed with patrons mostly in their 50's and up, and contrary to most venues, most people dress up for their dining experience. The food is of high quality and selection, and the wait staff is very attentive. The ambiance suffers a bit because they really pack the tables in, so you kind of get to know your neighbors. All-in-all, anyone who enjoys authentic and tasty Italian cuisine should give this place a try."

  • "Okay. Small place- lunch. Left thinking-WOW. Great food, presented with flair, service was great, the glass of wine matched the food for a reasonable price. One the top 5 finds in the last two years."

  • "Enjoyed the food very much and the service was excellent."

  • "Chianti's has some of the best Italian food in denver! A good wine list and overall fair prices."

  • "We had never been to Chianti Ristorante and chose it mostly for location as we were meeting for business. The menu is traditional yet very enticing, the wine selections were great (though you make your selections via an iPad that offers a lot of helpful explanations etc., being tech savvy we kept trying to figure out how to send our order to the barman - nope, you just pick it out and they come look at it then serve you.) The service was fantastic, and friendly. The food was fabulous, fresh, well made, nice portions and just delicious. A great place to go. The dining room is "New York" in it's use of real estate - so if you're looking for a lot of elbow room you may feel cramped. But if you're okay with dining in a crowd it's just great!"

  • "Seems like would be a great place, if management was running in sync. Arrived 6:45 for a 7pm reservation. Finally seated about 7:30pm, even though there were multiple tables open. Manager seemed a little out of sorts."

  • "Great salads and wine. Wide variety of entrees. Hazelnut crepes for dessert - yum!"

  • "I was excited to try Chianti. However the overall experience was bad. There were 8 total customers in the restaurant and it took 25 minutes just to get a drink order in. We had calimari for appetizer and that was pretty good. Then we had a Caesar salad which had zero flavor except for the crushed pepper. I ordered the lobster and shrimp ravioli and it was literally the worst lobster ravioli that I've ever had. I would have sent it back but I didn't want to make a scene since it was a special night for my wife and I. We finished with gelato which was pretty good. Overall experience was not great and I would not recommend this place to anyone."

  • "My staff and I wanted to go to a nice authentic restaurant to celebrate a goal we had reached. My staff choose Chianti's and we had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The ambience and food were excellent. You felt like you were in a quaint restaurant in Italy. The wait staff and food were exceptional. We definitely plan on retuning. Although this time I think we will go after work so that we can enjoy a wine selection. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants a different lunch experience."

  • "food was AWESOME!!! Branzzino was delicious and the artichoke, lemon, caper sauce was rich and silky and absolutely divine!!!!. My husband had the cioppino, full of clams, shrimp and fish in this very robust tomato sauce that was spectacular!!! We went at the end of restaurant week so the only available table was at 445PM. Actually was quite nice for a Friday evening, since we had our waiters undivided attention. Great place not to be missed!!!"

  • "Hidden gem in a strip mall. Don't let its surroundings fool you. Just take a peak in the big windows and you'll see how quaint and lovely this place is. I was here with 3 others during restaurant week - 2 of us ordered off RW menu and the other 2 off the regular menu. Everyone was extremely pleased with every course. Our waiter took the time to answer our questions and offer recommendations."

  • "Tried Chiantis during restaurant week and found it very enjoyable. Eggplant appetizer with incredibly thin slices was tasty. The calamari appetizer was very lightly breaded and fried perfectly to a tender finish. The papparadelle with sausage entree was very tasty and not overloaded with cheese, which we appreciate. Deserts we chose were attractively presented, but not notable. Tiramasu was mostly whipped cream...couldn't detect coffee flavor or mascarpone in the filling. Cheesecake was standard issue in an overlarge portion for healthy living. Efficient & well-timed service in a small room where conversation is possible without screaming. We will return."

  • "This is a charming little restaurant, very homey feeling (only seats 55.) Wonderful Italian menu, friendly staff. Very popular, so call for a reservation."

  • "We had a group of six and every dish was spectacular. I especially enjoyed the Veal Marsala, the best that I've found in Colorado."

  • "This was my second time at Chianti and third time with the chain. I will not be back. I ordered the SeaBass this visit and found it mediocre at best. Perhaps seafood is not the best item to select. Service is slow despite the fact the restaurant was not really busy. If you have 2-2.5 hours to kill for lunch and want to drop $70+ for two, then this is the spot. my water was rarely filled, the waiter checked on the meal 2-3x only. Our dining experience started fairly quiet but quickly became difficult to carry a conversation. I will mention the waiter was quick with the check & quicker and much more attentive when it was time to sign the check. This place is hidden but easy to access from Yosemite/Belleview and is 5 minutes from my job!"

  • "I picked this restaurant to try for Restaurant Week this year. I even invited 3 other couples to join my husband and I. It was a big hit. The food choices were delicious and very well portioned! I will definitely return in the future as will my friends."

  • "my family and I went to Chiantis on the first saturday of restaurant week. we had made reservations through open table but the hostess seemed to be surprised when we arrived on time. we had to wait a bit but were seated within 15 minutes of our reservation. the restaurant is located in a strip mall and the tables were on top of each other but the food was delicious enought that it would warrant a return trip. The portions were reasonable (especially considering a reduced priced pre-fixe menu) and each course was more delicious than the next. everyone at the table was pleased with their meal. I would definitely recommend."

  • "Food Service Music All great Chairs and tables could be more comfortable. Floor is way slick so were rubbery shoes, lol Asked to be seated away from wine rack or they'll Be pulling out wines bottles all around you."

  • "The people are friendly the food was tasty. However, the seating is very crowded and the wait staff barely have room to serve you comfortably. I do not mind loud places and it is loud due to the crowded seating. I had previously read that the 52.80 menu had an offering of scallops as a main entrée. There was no such listing when we went there. I found out this is the sister restaurant of Venice. We probably would go back to Venice if we are so inclined."

  • "The food is amazing. One bite and I was blown away. There are many Italian options very close by, but this one is the best as far as quality and price. I had the gnocchi with sausage which was recommended by the waiter and it was outstanding. The best gnocchi I've had in Denver. The only downside is that this is a tiny restaurant in a strip mall, so tables are close together and fill up fast. We went at 8pm on a Thursday which was a great time to go."

  • "Being a small and intimate restaurant, Chianti manages to hold a good deal of people; being a party of two, we were seated in between two other parties of two and we could hear the conversations of both parties on either side of us and I'm sure they could hear our conversation as well. However, the tables along the wall provide more privacy and I'm sure can be requested. The food and service here are wonderful- I had a shell pasta with chicken, broccoli and sun-dried tomatoes and it was great; my daughter had the Chilean sea bass which I tasted and it was fantastic. Our server was friendly, attentive and Italian which added to the charm of the restaurant! making us feel like we had visited Italy for lunch. Will definitely return!"

  • "First time visit to Chianti's. This place is a little too concerned with packing in the people and not concerned with the dining experience. Tables were so close together that wait staff and customers had to go down aisles to get to tables and seats. It just as well have been picnic table seating. Sorely dissappointed and will not be back."

  • "I love Chianti. The food is great and the waiters are awesome. But we were jammed in like sardines into the space and it was uncomfortable. The tables were very unstable. I will only go back when it is not a busy night. We also had a loud, obnoxious couple in back of us and no where to move. Not the happiest or romantic Valentines."

  • "Although very overcrowded for the space (tables were way to close for anyone remotely claustrophobic), the butternut squash ravioli was off-the-charts yummy."

  • "Food was great our service was slow, it was somewhat understandable as it was Valentines night. However our waiter announced he was new at the beginning and also let us know he was struggling learning the system, probably not a night to have your new talent out. After bringing us our menus and taking our drink order we waited 20 minutes till he took our order. The food was brought to us not long after and was great. I would have expected to pay more but the price was very reasonable for the quality."

  • "The food and service were really terrific, they may have tried to squeeze in a few too many tables for Valentine's Day though. It was really crowded. I'd still go back though!"

  • "Much too crowded and no waiting room for those willing to wait. Very noisy. All of this affected the service which was not good. Food was good but not worth the effort."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "We had reservations at 7, finally seated around 715, table right by the door so we were cold. There were several other couples waiting for tables they had reservations for so area by our table was crowded. We never offered an apology or a complimentary appetizer or glass of wine for the inconvenience. The food was ok. The vegetables were very overcooked, my lemon butter caper sauce was glue like consistency and dark brown. Service was slow, took quite a while to get everything and again no apologies for having to wait for every course and the check. Waiter barely spoke to us and made it seem like we were bothering him to get service. Their sister restaurant Venice is much better - go there and don't waste your time at this place."
