Situated in the heart of beautiful downtown Saratoga Springs, Chianti Il Ristorante serves sophisticated, authentic Northern Italian fare in an elegant setting. Combining seasonal food, an award-winning wine selection, a welcoming and knowledgeable staff and a detailed, inviting ambiance Chianti provides every guest with a superb and unforgettable dining experience. Aesthetically inspiring, its rustic walls, hard wood floors and green onyx bar invoke the authenticity of conventional Italian architecture while remaining slightly modern. The culinary philosophy at Chianti is based on a respect for tradition. With artisan breads and pastas, housemade sausage and braised meats it is culinary craftsmanship at its best. Our guests have the chance to savor fresh food, from a selection of expertly-sliced carpaccio, to a variety of wild fish, to risotto that is made only with Vialone Nano rice grown exclusively in Italy's Venetto region. Diner Reviews
  • "requested a romantic table for two. put at a table for two in a room with all other tables set for large groups that arrived during our appetizer. Service and noise levels got progressively worse as the evening wore on. Midway thru partner and I could not hear each other at all. entrée delayed two-three times due to chef busy cooking for larger groups (this was admitted by server twice!). Evening ended when we ordered a tiramisu for dessert to go. the serving was an insult-weighing maybe 2 ounces and looking like a left over!! Really sad. Guess the place does well due to past performance and Saratoga hype. Server very pretentious also. Food quality was fair at best so just don't get the buzz."

  • "We always try to come here when we are in Saratoga because we love the place but were disappointed this time. We went later on a Sunday during racing season and were seated in the bar area. It was noisy and hot. We mentioned the fact that it was hot to the waiter and asked if we could move to somewhere cooler as by this time the place was starting to empty out. The waiter said he would turn the temperature down. The manager came over and said he turned down the temperature but it didn't fell like it. We ate at an affiliated restaurant the night before and it was a much better dining experience. Go to Chianti as it's a good place but be careful where they seat you."

  • "We were seated on time. We ordered two apps, the mozzarella and the fish fry. Both were fantastic though the prosciutto was a bit too soft for my taste. Main courses were salmon (huge!) and angel hair with lobster sauce (huge!). Great ambiance though a bit loud at times. But it is track season so... All in all a great meal with great service."

  • "Hiccups in service made it an uncomfortable experience. Went with a group of 6. None of the courses were served together. Someone always had to wait. Would not return"

  • "Chianti Il Ristorante was one of a number of restaurants recommended by our hotel. This was by far the best suggestion. The food was fantastic, authentic italian. The spaghetti bolognese was delicious, not too oily. When I asked the waiter what the secret was, he said they use filet mignon for the meat! The whole meal from start to finish was great! The waiter & sommelier were knowledgable, friendly and experienced. The atmosphere was lively, with a busy bar as well as alfresco dining. This restaurant combined the best of everything!"

  • "Loved the off the main stream choices. Even though I chose the main stream dishes, next time I am going to venture out. Unfortunately after a day at the track, the noise level was a little much for me, but as it got later it was more subdued.(or maybe because I relaxed and enjoyed the experience!)"

  • "Started at Chianti with a lemon drop martini that was delicious! ( and only $5., a bar special.) Food was excellent and so were the portions and prices."

  • "We enjoyed our meal once again at Chianti. We have been going in the summer for several years now. We first went when they were in a small building on a back street in Saratoga. It was the first time I tried Carpaccio and I was sold! We return to find the quality very good and the service wonderful! The only comment we have is that the order of Cipriani Carpaccio has been reduced in size. I was disappointed to say the least but the quality was there."

  • "My wife and I had a good evening. We had different food experiences. I had great food - Seafood Soup, Michaelanglo, and summer salad. My wife had the summer salad which she enjoyed nd the Fruit de Mare over pasta- which she did not like. The place was crowded (good for the owners) but noisy. We had to request some young folks next to us to refrain from using obsene language - which they did. The service ws great. We would go back - my wife would order differently. She should let me order for her! I also ask for a medium priced grappa - whch the waitress brought - it was very good! Good grappa is hard to find these days!"

  • "Three friends and I enjoyed superb meals two nights ago. The service was terrific and the food outstanding, but the noise level was deafening. I could not hear what the person sitting next to me was saying. The tables were very close together as well. I loved the meal but found the ambience badly marred by the dreadfully loud environment."

  • "My husband and I had eaten at Chianti a few years ago and remembered it fondly. When we met another couple for dinner in Saratoga, we were glad to return. The pasta was particularly outstanding - al dente is NOT easy to find in this area and Chianti knows how to cook pasta! The salad and appetizers were terrific, and the wine was very good. All around, we had a wonderful evening. The only negative factor is that we were seated near some very loud diners, so it was hard to hear the specials described by our server. Luckily, those people left, and the atmosphere improved tremendously. Highly recommended."

  • "Sausage dish not good , lots of oil and grease...1/2 pasta very small lots of great bread wine by the glass , small ..waited 35 min for first dish , mixed seafood , which was the best of all served Great location . I guess its what you order"

  • "Enjoyed a very delicious meal on the patio, which is much quieter than the seating near the loud and busy bar. Very attentive server who was able to make several reccomendations from that night's specials and from the menu."

  • "In our travels and living nearby to NYC, Chianti, is our favorite restaurant by far. The owners have a magical touch. Perfection, a word not used by us often. From the moment you walk in, the service and quality, until you are walking out is remarkable. The employees behavior is that of ownership. Hats off to Chianti!"

  • "A friend and I dined at Chianti before a SPAC performance. I had chosen the place online. Even at 5:15, the place was very busy. A sign I had chosen well ! Service, food, and ambiance were more than I could have hoped, and prices were reasonable. We appreciated option of the early bird and probably otherwise would not have ordered desert, or we might have shared something. Entrée portions were surprisingly generous. I have already recommended Chianti to friends who visit Saratogaa in the summer."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed our visit, from the moment we sat down to the last bite of our dessert. Our server, Kevin, was knowledgeable about the food and wine and made some great recommendations for cocktails and wine. He even suggests a few restaurants for breakfast the next day! A great find!"

  • "My friend and I were visiting Saratoga and selected Chianti from TA. We were not disappointed. Food was fresh and well-prepared. Service was excellent, (our waiter was Clark), and wine offerings were extensive. We would definitely return on our next visit."

  • "We chose the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The calamari appetizer was delicious and the portion was generous enough for a third person to share. I had the pork osso bucco, which fell off the bone, it was so tender. My husband enjoyed a pasta dish. Dessert was a chocolate hazelnut tartufo with vanilla filling. A perfect ending to a delicious meal. My only negative is that the tables are very close together, so it can be a tight squeeze, and thus, a little noisy."

  • "everything was GREAT. However my wife's gluten free pasta was not even half way cook. I wish that she would have told me sooner Iwould have mention it to the staff. The experience was the best even with that issue"

  • "The chicken I ordered was terrible-rubbery. I sent it back and order a pasta dish which was excellent. We have eaten at this restaurant many times before and I believe their pasta dishes are the best. The noise level was so loud we had to shout to be heard over dinner."

  • "Excellent service. Reasonably priced and well chosen wine by the glass. Interesting menu. The rabbit entree was brought steaming to the table. Was succulent and tasty. The restaurant provides an unrushed dining experience."

  • "We arrived and were sited right away at a table that we We ordered our drinks and the server gave us the specials which all sounded great. The server then took our order and I asked for a smaller serving of the special of the evening which was skirt steak with pasta. They said that was not a problem and within a short wait our appetizer was served which was paper thin sliced tuna with greens, a great and unusual start to our dinner. We also ordered a shared dish of calamari which was perfectly done with a very light coating and served with the appropriate red sauce. My wife orderd the Pasta Ala Vodka and I had the special as stated above. Both dishes were served hot and were well prepared. We ended with espresso and a special dessert."

  • "Have eaten here for Jazz Fest for the last few years - food is excellent, but the service gets slower and slower - water & bread come quick and it drags on from there. This year was especially slow to the point where we had to ask (and should just have been offered without having to ask) for 3 additional bread baskets just to tide us over. We won't be back next year."

Best risotto I have ever eaten which was recommended by the bartender at both Fornos and Chianti. Husband had a special of squid ink pasta and cuttlefish which was delicious. Delicious carpaccio and burrata appetizers. Try the tirimisu martini.Goes great with coffee. We loved it and will definitely be back!!"

  • "This was my third time at Chianti and I'll definitely be coming back again. The food and service is first rate and the ambiance is very nice. We sat on the outdoor covered patio because the inside of the restaurant was very busy and a bit too noisy for our taste. My only complaint is that the patio chairs are metal with no cushions...I ended up folding up my scarf and sitting on it so that I could have a bit more cushioning."
