We enjoyed a beer at the bar while we waited for our table. The bartender was friendly and discussed beer with us. My friend and I opted to split every plate so we can take advantage of trying as much as we could. We ordered Coccio (calamari), then the Del Chianti (thinly sliced filet with gorganzola fondue, then the risotto carciofi e gorganzola and salmon special. While the calamari was nothing to brag about, we tore into the hot (yes it was steaming) bread and dipped it into every sauce that was left over. The filet was AMAZING as was the risotto and salmon. The owner came to our table to greet us while we were having our before dinner drink, our wait staff was excellent and the food remarkable. Best of all the prices on the menu were a pleasant surprise. The next time we are in Saratoga Springs we will most certainly return for another dining experience. Whatever you do be sure and have a cup of coffee after your meal, even the decaf. We chose to dine outdoors on this occasion and were seated in their canvas enclosed area which housed a number of tables. It was a very comfortable setting, and we felt well taken care of by our servers. We opted for Chianti's Sunday A Cena Per Primi, which offers a selection of 3 course dinners before 5:30 PM for only $19. My wife chose grilled asparagus with prociutto and egg for her antipasti, while I selected calamari in spiced tomato broth. For our main courses, we both chose Penne Alla Norma. Service is friendly and professional from the moment one walks in. On this particular night, I was bringing a friend, to whom I had given very high expectations of this restaurant. Not only did the food and service live up to expectations, it far exceeded it! The timing of the courses were perfection. One never waited for, or wondered when the next course was arriving. The waitress was very attentive and answered any questions thoroughly regarding wine or menu choices.
