Despite it being a busy Saturday night, the noise was muted by good acoustics and the dining spots being well separated. That made it easy for my hard of hearing friend and I to converse and hear the waitress. Superb wine choices and recommendations. The service was excellent, the wine list is excellent and they even had a nice pinot noir based grappa. My date and I both had seafood dishes and the seafood was fresh and cooked beautifully. He made suggestions for every order and was spot on with them. He kept our water glasses full and was right on top of every course. The meal was delicious... The decor and image is very upscale, but there were many families with (well-behaved) kids and people dressed very casually. For the menu prices it seems a bit of a letdown in ambiance, but I'm not a high-class type of diner anyway, so I felt comfortable, though it wasn't exactly an intimate/romantic feel either. So just a 'warning' for anyone who is expecting a "fine dining" experience, you may want to head downtown Minneapolis. (The fact that it's located in a strip mall parking lot should be a clue) Regardless, our server was fantastic and the food was as well! It was a "girls" lunch and I had requested a round table so we could all visit. We had a table in the perfect spot! The restaurant is quite large and plenty of spaces in between tables, but we were pretty much in a spot by ourselves and it was great. Once you get through the huge drink menu in the front, they have a very nice lunch menu. I had a chicken caesar salad which was huge and took half of it home. It was a lot of lettuce and could have used some more "caesar". The food is always amazing, the service is good and the prices are decent. A lot of what I'll call 'fancy' places do a la carte for sides but at Chianti, you get bread (ask for the breadsticks!), a salad and then side dish with your meal. Maybe Chianti isn't considered the upper echelon of fine dining, but it definitely is a classy place with a nice ambiance and the food is delicious. We have been given stellar service with incredible staff that take time to listen and are very knowledgeable. Twice we have come for our anniversary, and we have celebrated Mother's Day, our birthdays and even have brought guests to share the experience. The staff have demonstrated they care for your experince, and desire you to return again. The food has been top notch, from the crab cakes, to the fish, and they have given me new ways to enjoy steak. We have visited during brunch, and were amazed at the selection, quantity, and as always the quality of their selections.
