  • "Are at bar. Spent $150 on two steaks that came out cold...creamed spinach was also cold and I had to ask for a spoon for serving. Bar tender never offered me another martini or drink. $240 spent and it was a bust."

  • "Took my wife for our five year anniversary, and it was a perfect place for a special occasion. The cocktail program is excellent, and they even have more rare classics, like calvados. The gratin was phenomenal, the marrow was succulent, the gnocchi was superb. I love that they properly spice their steaks, and that the quality really shows. The molten chocolate cake was the perfect mix of caramelized sugars, coffee, and bitter chocolate. Tip: The steaks of the piedmont are much more lean than traditional American Prime... so it is better to eat them at a temperature level lower than what you would typically order (medium rare instead of medium, for instance). Delicious."

  • "A small group, anxious to try this landmark restaurant site (Kelly's), were not to experience a steak house. But rather an Angels Envy Cocktail Dinner for June 24, 2014. A nepotistic crowd who were not accommodating to first time diners. A night if misguided offerings; of Culinary highs & tasteless lows coupled with marginal service, long waits between four courses, and no beef. It was disappointing as this event was not listed on Open Table; Yelp; or Dining Rewards. It was expensive. And it is not a turn off."

  • "I am not a regular review writer, but our evening at Chianina was exceptional, I feel the restaurant should get some sort of recognition. Our group of six favors steakhouses and Chianina has been on our radar since opening. We were very warmly greeted, seated promptly and the excellent service continued through the entire meal. We started with four appetizers, including the bone marrow, pork belly, scallops and Kauai shrimp. All were outstanding, but the portion sizes were small and our group likes to share, so it was a bit difficult. My wife and I had the rib-eye for 2, more than ample in size and perfectly cooked medium rare. It exceeded our expectations, which sounds funny for a high-end steakhouse. Desserts were also outstanding."

  • "This was our second visit and once again we were impressed by and pleased with the food, service and environment. On a Wednesday evening we enjoyed a delicious leisurely meal with friends. We especially like the ability to hear our conversation without competing with music or the next table. The food was outstanding - the sides, the pork chop, the salmon, the scallops, the steak were all excellent. Our single issue is the limited selection of wines priced at less than $100 per bottle."

  • "After a hectic graduation season, my husband and I, learning that we would be at our home at the beach, went to open table to book our reservation. The only time that was available was 5. We have dined here since the day after it opened, through the ups and downs. We arrived 5 minutes early. It was windy: I pulled the door handle. It was open. I went in. No "welcome". I was told that the door should not have been unlocked. I was ushered outside. The bottom line? I had to send my steak back three times; the busboy knocked over my martini, spilled it on the booth seat, and did not offer to replace it; my husband asked for steak sauce and was belittled for doing so. No offer to see a dessert menu. No class; no manners. For us, no return."

  • "The appetizer was fantastic (Diver Scallops), the steak was very good, but the potato dish was mediocre. I was a little annoyed at the server, I asked him what steak he recommended, and of course it was one of the most expensive steaks on the menu. I asked him why he recommended that steak, and he just stumbled on the answer. There wasn't really an answer, he just said that it was great. I asked him what the difference between the Piedmontese beef, and the Prime beef. His only answer was the Piedmontese beef was grass fed."

  • "Our dining experience was a mixed bag. Frankly I think they are capable of more. At their price point I expect flawless food that I couldn't make at home . I could definitely say that about the steak, perfectly cooked and a clean flavor. And the Yukon gold potatoes were to die for. The complimentary soup at the start of the meal was flavor less to the point where I thought it was hot water with an herb on it. The bread....honey roll was good but bordering on soggy and the olive roll was terrible. When they came back around the waitress recommended the rye which now I can see why. AMAZING! I could have had a meal of just that. If you have your own pastry chef every one of those bread options should be spot on. Drinks great. Overall a B-"

  • "Brought my husband for an early Father's Day dinner. My husband and son are steak eaters and know what they like. The steaks were beyond our expectations ------ as good as Michael's is with their Italian food, they are just as superb with steak! Our waiter forgot was to peek at my notes in Open Table -- which was to surprise my husband with his Johnny Walker Black, water & twist as we sat down. He asked us what we wanted to drink so I had to tell him I had entered the notes in Open Table. Other than this fluke --- the service, the sommelier, Alejandro, all were great! Michael happened to be there and we visited with him briefly. Everyone is genuinely kind and they care about all of their customers having a positive experience!"

  • "I was hoping to have my doors blown off by Chianina. It just didn't happen. The food was not bad and the wait staff was very attentive, but for $230 for my wife and I, I was hoping for more. I could have made a better steak at home for less than $50.00. We had oysters, which were the highlight of the meal. The ceasar salad was good, but I can do better at home. The bone marrow was just OK and the steak was too tough. It was cooked very well, it just didn't seem to be a very good piece of meat. Sorry. We won't be back. "

The close relationship with the rancher and specific use of appropriate cattle (initially Piedmontese but working towards Chianina) is not only commendable but truly desirable. After having had Chianina steak in Italy, the introduction of this restaurant set alarms for me. Not only the Piedmontese steak that I had on my visit to Chianina Steakhouse, but especially Chianina steak puts Angus (and dare I say Kobe) to shame. The restaurant is also very cool inside. There's a classy yet chill atmosphere with the decor, music and service. Appetizer selections are tempting, main courses and sides are obviously mouthwatering and deserts are fun and inventive. "

  • "I have eaten pretty much everywhere, Chianina is a great spot, but ran me $300 and my wife and I split a 13oz steak and had one bottle of wine that was on the lower end of their price range. Easily $200 a person. We had heard it was pricey but there are not a lot of high end steak houses in our area. We would normally go south to Mastros from LB for a dinner like this. I felt that it was more expensive than Mastros, if you are looking for a comparison. Bone Marrow is just incredible dish and the bar staff are excellent as we waited for 90 mins and had a drink and appetizers at bar before we sat down for the main course. I would recommend giving it a try, but expect to spend $200 a person or more."

  • "This is a new restaurant in Long Beach, and this was our second visit. Both times (this first my wife and me, the second with friends) the service could not have been better and the food excellent. Not cheap, but not bad for what you get. Good wine list that seems fairly priced, excellent cocktails for the first time we went in after they go their liquor license. A lot of promise here."

  • "Everyone in Long Beach has a hard time saying the name - but we all know this as "Michael's New SteakHouse". We love all of his restaurants, and Mossimo the general manager. The food was good, so was the wine, roasted Veggies, salad and dessert. A little pricey......that's why I say only for Special Occasions."

  • "Chianina's owner has brought a new level to dining in the Naples area. He owns other restaurants in the area and this is going to be his very high end restaurants. Everything from the valet parking on was outstanding. Highly recommend reservations. The service was great, drinks arrived quickly and were good, the waiter was really attentive and the maitre'd was also attentive and stopped by and chatted with us for a while. We ordered bone marrow that was wonderful and so was the pork belly. The frissee salad was not to our taste so the waiter took it away and brought us a different salad. All in all a wonderful experience. Not cheap but well worth the money."

  • "Nothing like it in Long Beach! great ambiance, excellent food, loved the side dishes! had english peas, potatoes gratin, potatoes frite, asparagus, mushrooms. Starters delicious had tortellini and pork belly. Steak meant to be the star, we got the Fiorentina to share among 4 people. With sides etc., was plenty. Steak was very good, however want to go back when they get the special "chianina" italian beef in the house. Wine list is great, soon will have system in place that allows for a great variety by the glass. Cocktails we tried were good "Last Dance", "Terrior" , "Revived" and the Cava (sparkling wine). Seafood options looked great, but did not try. Waitstaff gracious, knowledgable. I'll be back, but cost will make it a "treat"."

  • "Finally, a restaurant in Long Beach worth the trip from out of town. While Chianina needs to correct some details in order to meet serious dining expectations, it was a pleasure to experience. On my visit, the food was mostly excellent but our salad contained several yellow & spotted arugula leaves which should have been picked out by a careful cook. Most of the rest of our food was well-prepared and delicious: a flavorful and properly cooked risotto with morels and a perfect medium-rare Piedmontese bone-in ribeye. The asparagus stalks were thin and had been peeled so they were a bit too soft for my taste but the flavor was good. I look forward to returning to have some true Chianina beef being raised in Colorado for the restaurant."

  • "Starting with decor. This place is a beautiful restaurant with clean lines . The soundproofing is amazing. All the booths are open to each other yet we could not here sound around us. The food is fresh with something for everyone. The executive chef is truly an artist.Everything we ordered was outstanding. The manager was very gracious and made us feel welcomed. Service was excellent. Another home run from this restaurant group. We will be back soon !"
