Diner Reviews
  • "The service surpasses the food here, and the food is AMAZING. The menu is meticulously explained and the servers are beyond knowledgable! Tried the Tomahawk Pork Chop this visit, and was wowed! The ndjua stands on it's own, but with the pane bianco, perhaps the best bread i've had in LA (Thanks, Nancy Silverton!) is beyond delicious. For a meat centric restaurant, they know how to do a simple salad right as well. My husband is lactose intolerant and has a sensitivity to onions, and the staff too great care of him, and did not make him feel like he was missing out on anything. The GM stopped by our table more than once as well making us feel like VIP's. Always looking for an excuse to go back."

  • "The meat is what you will hear about, and the meat IS remarkable for both its flavor and its size, but the vegetables are equally wonderful. They could serve nothing but their cream-less creamed corn and the place would still be a hit."

  • "Chi Spacca has become my favorite dining experience. The food is timed and seasoned perfectly. It's a small room so it has a feel of intimacy and exclusivity. The staff is professional yet friendly and they make you feel like you own the place. The cooking is done on a wood grill and wood burning oven in an open area adjacent to the dining room so you can see and enjoy each dish that is being prepared. 2nd time going and I'm ready for #3!"

  • "This place was awesome for the atmosphere, intimacy and mostly, great food... nothing more, nothing less."

  • "Since the plates are meant to be shared our waiter said he would help us with ordering to make sure we didn't have too much, BUT, after recommending we order an additional side on top of our regular order, we had WAY too much food. As a matter of fact EVERY table had way too much food if you count the doggy bags waiting to get picked up. That was irritating. And the pork loin (for $80) came with 6 (small) pieces of meat then a bunch of fat and bone. It was supposed to be 42 oz, but if you take away the fat and bone, it was maybe half that."

  • "The T-Bone for Two was huge and my son and I continued to feast on the left overs for the next few days. Steak sandwiches with arugula and horse radish. The restaurant experience was fantastic...great service but not hovering or overly friendly (which I don't like). The beef was extraordinary and blows away anything at any of the chains (Mortons, Flemings, Ruth's Chris, BOA). It ain't cheap but it's worth it for a special occasion."

  • "Chi Spacca brings to LA the meat tradition of Tuscany. Great "affettati" (cold cuts), terrific meats ( pork, beef, lamb) all in a easy going setting and a very good service. If next door Mozza is more eclectic Chi Spacca specifically will satisfy the meat lovers."

  • "Food and wine suggestions by our server were very helpful. Pricey, but overall a great dining experience. Making plans for return visit."

  • "We arrived on time but were offered counter seats although there was a table available which is understandable (nevermind that the guy from the Bachelor got the table!) but we waited 10 minutes at the counter to even get acknowledged by any wait staff so we questioned the host that sat us. A waitress finally arrived after 5 more minutes and offered us a very small conciliatory pour of prosecco. She took our order and they moved us to a table nearby which was ok, but then for the rest of the night we did not get a waitress and were served our meals by different bus boys ( I counted 5 different people) while a table next to us was getting waited on hand and foot...although the food was fine, I found the whole experience very disconcerting"

  • "Came to celebrate my birthday with my husband, sister, and brother in law. Nice wine, great tomahawk pork chop, bone marrow pie was delicious. Focaccia bread is a do not miss. Would come back for sure. Servers were professional and hot!"

  • "Attentive service, knew who we were and the special occasion (anniversary) we were celebrating. Some of the food we considered outstanding, all of it was at least quite good. Sitting at the counter is especially fun as it's easy to talk to the cooks about their preparations"

  • "If you love meat this is the place to go. This spot has dethroned mastros as my number one meat venue, which if you know me, would be a big shock. Everything was just so perfect. I need to go back and try more. The only thing I wish they had was the cheeses from osteria next door but in hindsight I would have not been able to eat any more."

  • "Everything was very good. I would go with 4 people rather then 2. Meat main dishes are all 42oz and up. Only bad thing I would say is it took about an hour for appetizers to come. Focaccia is a must order. Not sure why it's so good, but it is awesome. Porterhouse was cooked perfectly. Squash Blossomes were surprisingly very good. Corn side dish was excellent. Only beer and wine. Chi Spacca is definitely worth trying. "

  • "The meal at chi SPACCA was gorgeous. The restaurant specializes in red meats, and flourishes. The preparation is handled with care as each dish arrives in 10-20 minute intervals, so this is by no means a quick eat. The “moorish” lamb shoulder chop was cut perfectly with the right amount of fat, as well with the porcini rubbed beef short ribs. Unfortunately for my liking, the $210 costata alla fiorentina 50oz New York steak was not as satisfying as the previous meats. The razor clams were not as remarkable as the meats, but was still well done. The major disappoint however was the beef & bone marrow pie. It had a cheap, over-sauced taste and texture. Despite that, overall a great experience, and will return once again. "

  • "Definitely worth waiting for . The sheeps cheese ,honeycomb and nuts amazing . House chianti . Focaccia service impeccable. S big change from la dining. I was salivating over the meat but usually never eat it . That I will bring in a group of friends next time . Fish fresh wow. "

  • "You enter thru the Pizza take out door.We were underwhelmed by everything except the prices.Tables jammed 2 close 2gether,hard chairs, lacked warmth & ambiance.Plates 2 small.Drank our very expensive Brunello from water tumblers. Our decanted wine scarce & poured sporadically. The prices were astronomical & potions were skimpy. There were 2 many rules-how the order is placed, how it's to be cooked, etc. The timing was atrocious.Everything was brought out at once & we waited 4 plates while the food got cold.Don't mind paying a higher price 4 excellent food & service, but we felt cheated when the bill arrived.$250 4 a 50oz steak is Kobe beef territory-which this was not.1 out of 3 desserts worked. The entire experience a let down & felt like a scam."

  • "So glad we got to celebrate my husband's Bday at chi SPACCA! My hub fancies himself a connoisseur of all things charcuterie, so it would be a major indicator to see how chi SPACCA fared. It was essentially a metaphysical experience. He got the mixed plate to start, and it was all he could talk about while he was eating it. Hilarious, actually. Every bite was better than the last! Then we split one of the steaks (48oz i think) and got the potatoes and the cauliflower. Everything was divine! And nothing is as delicious without incredible service. Anna was perfect, plus her support team were on top of our every request and need. Everyone knows their stuff at chi SPACCA. Yes, pricey, but we'll be back. Worth it! Far cheaper than going to Italy."

  • "Had a wonderful second dinner at Chi Spacca. The food is terrific. The ambience is pleasant (small room, open kitchen) and the staff are nice and efficient. The only complaint is we were reserved for their "second sitting" at 8:30 and had to wait until 9 to sit. Luckily they plied us with complimentary wine. I think the management needs to work out a system of enforcing the double sitting times or simply just have the one at 6:30. (They haven't figured out how to get the 6:30 diners to leave at 8:30). I plan to keep going there, but I'll never go for the second sitting again. For those who don't mind eating large quantities of meat at 9:30 or 10:00 pm, no problem here!!!"

  • "After 9PM offerings on the menu considerably dwindle waiter was unaware exactly what was included on a particular dish items ordered were not served together and brought to table piece meal blackboard wine list can't be seen anywhere on the floor desserts were disappointing "

  • "This 26 seat restaurant is hard to get into not because the food is good, but because the seating is limited. They treat you Like a piece of meat their Featured entrée. Your OpenTable reservation will be honored but hopefully not like our case 45 minutes after the fact! You can stand in the Small takeout area Where there are no seats to accommodate You. Take your money elsewhere"

  • "Each dish was more amazing than the last. Can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu. The bistecca was done to perfection and the focaccia was delectable. I applaud the thought that went into this restaurant!"

  • "Was a bit disappointed this time around. The service was not as personable and not as "warm" as the first time we were there. Water was not filled when I needed it, I ended up ordering 2 blood orange pellegrino. The actual food runner explained the story behind the food which was much more genuine than our waiter. Being it my wife's bday, I was hoping they would write at least happy bday on the dessert we ordered. I guess that's too much to expect from a fine dining 375 dinner bill. I prefer the tomahawk pork chop over the steaks. The cured meats were awesome. Beef n bone marrow pie had excellent flavor. The faccio was a bit salty. The chicken tasted great! Overall, it was ok. If that was your first time, it would have been ok""

  • "Everything was wonderful from the moment we were sat. The dining room is lovely and every table has a great view of the open kitchen. The entire staff works as team to ensure you are never waiting for anything, providing excellent service. The food was delicious - I would recommend going with at least 4 people, as the dishes are meant to be shared and, trust me, you want to try as many as possible. There were absolutely no misses at our table! Another win for the Mozza team!"

  • "Looking for a place where it would be worth it to try every item on the menu at least once? The appetizer sampler "affetati" is incredible. We could have drank the salad dressing and the beefsteak tomatoes popped in our mouths. Topping it all off with the beef short ribs, cooked to perfection with mouthwatering seasoning, we savored the flavors for the rest of the night."

  • "chi Spacca is a meat lovers smorgasbord. Everything is prepared with precision authenticity and care. Our server, George, was well informed and polite to the point of perfection. We dined on the forcaccia bread (not to be missed), salami (spicy), beef and bone marrow pie, insalata mistinanza... It was all out of this world!"

  • "I found this place through Horizons, on a flight to Brussels. Left the young adults at home and dined with my husband. And ... perfect. The bread and salumeria were fantastic - went perfectly from there! We had the pork, BTW. I am not so familiar with Italian wines, so that was a bit of a challenge, but we picked middle of the road and it was delicious. The restaurant is small - which is fine - and there were a few couples, a few "bigger" groups, but all made a great ambiance. After spending LAST year's spring break in Italy, I'd say this was the best Italian dinner we had for THIS spring break! It was really a great meal."

  • "The food was spectacular. Served family style, and recommend for group of 4+, or 2 people with very big appetite. Most of the dishes were very rich and hearty, great with a glass of red. The service was excellent. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Had a extremely great time there."

  • "Well if you like huge portions of meat, then you have come to the right place. The restaurant is very small and cozy. The food is good but a bit too much if there are only two of you so you’re limited in ordering a lot of items, which we like to do. We were able to try a few items and ordered the short ribs since this meat option was probably the smallest they had. We enjoyed it along with the sides. I wouldn’t order the mash potatoes since it was really nothing special."

  • "We celebrated my boyfriend's birthday at Chi Spacca and we were both very pleased with the experience. I was beyond grateful that our waiter told us that we did not need to order as much food as we were planning to. I did still however think that the mixed Salumi platter was actually too much meat for 2 people to start a meal with and we were almost full just after eating that. It would have been more appropriate for 3 or 4 people to share. In my opinion the wine was incredibly overpriced considering that the $77 bottle we ordered was for sale at Mozza to go (connected to this restaurant) for $28. A bit disheartening to see that."

  • "One of the best dining overall experience! From the hostess to the waitress to the manager everyone was very friendly! We arrived a bit early, we were informed our table was not ready, and hostess suggested we go to the bar at the osteria, she even came to get us from the bar to let us know our table was ready! Sat us down, our waitress was awesome, I forgot her name (Russian gal) very knowledgeable, gave a lot of history of the food region. You can tell she was well versed at her job and truly enjoyed what she does. She gave us recommendations, the pork chop loin/belly was on a different level, taste how it was cooked, the crust. The razor claims were great, never had that until last night! The roasted cauliflower was great as well!"
