  • The Hidden Treasure

This is truly a hidden treasure in Pike Place Market. It was our first time here and I can't wait to go back. Our server was great. He was perfectly attentive and respectful. Every dish we had from the manila clams, our starter salads (I had the pickled beet salad which was superb), to our entrees (we had the sockeye salmon and gnocchi) was delicious and cooked perfectly. Honestly one of the best gnocchi dishes I've had, hands down. Granted it was a Sunday night and fairly quiet, the whole experience was great. Good company and good food. Cute little restaurant, great for a date night.

  • Restaurant week 2012

We came for restaurant week, set a reservation and it was packed at 6:30 even on a Wednesday. The waitress was quick and courteous. The food was amazing, it's not just something you can find anywhere and justifies the higher price tag (on a normal menu). Everything was fresh and delicious, the skin on my pan seared salmon was crispy but not the slightest bit burnt, the pineapple basil sorbet was fantastic and actually tasted like basil; I love basil. I use restaurant week to try the more expensive places out, and needless to say, I'll be back.

It was wonderful to be able to experience such a great dining experience during Restaurant Week. Each course of our 3 course meal was outstanding and served in a perfectly time manner. The service was exceptional and I highly recommend Chez Shea for a special occasion or for an incredible dining experience. Can't wait to return!

I was looking forward to their sea bass, which was advertised both online and in their window menu earlier in the day, but although we were their early for dinner, they were no longer serving it. I had even called the day before to verify the menu, which they said would be their regular menu, plus a special menu for Restaurant Week. The salmon that I ordered was overcooked and the putenesca sauce unremarkable. Wine selection was interesting, however, as was the basil/pineapple sorbet. The setting is interesting and we might give it another try someday, but we were looking for a special anniversary experience and this wasn't it.

I have been coming to Chez Shea for many years. I found myself coming here a lot lately (every week). Food is always great here and the service is exceptional, especially if you dine around 5-7pm when they can be very attentive. It is right next to the market so if you come in early, you can still experience the busy market scenes from above if you can find sparking spot.

We dined at Chez Shea for the Dine Around Seattle special, and everything we ordered was delicious (our 2 entrees were scallops & pork). Unfortunately, the scallops entree was quite small, and I found myself still hungry after the meal. It would have been nice to have 6 small scallops instead of 4, and more lentils and veggies.

A great experience. I have only eaten in the bar in the past. This was the first time in the dining room. It appears there has been some remodeling, opening up the environment more. It is very pleasant. The food was great as was the service. From the minute we walked in the door to when we left we felt very welcome and appreciated.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2005
    Dined on 3/25/2012
We had dinner at Chez Shea on March 25th for our anniversary and brought a special bottle of wine. The food was impeccable - standouts were the Wagyu tartare (appetizer), oysters (appetizer), and pork chop (entree). I think they must have used a ricer and double boiler method on the mashed potatoes that came with the chop - so velvety and good. Desserts were also fabulous - chocolate mousse (deep and smooth, not airy and sticky sweet) and creme brulee. Wait service was attentive and personable. We would go back - and we plan to bring out of town guests this summer. One note on ambience - the space is very nice and elegant, but the view is largely of the HVAC atop the Market building across the street. Not a problem for us!

We chose the Chef's tasting menu but we were forced to all 3 order the same. Two of us wanted the Chef's tasting menu but our 3rd party had special dietary requirements and only wanted to order an entree. We asked if he could do that and we were told that "everyone at the table has to order the Chef's tasting menu in order for anyone to have it". Why??? We were frustrated by that. We did all 3 order the Chef's tasting menu and our 3rd person just ate what he could. The food was very very good.

This restaurant is so hidden that I didn't notice until very recently that there was even a restaurant! We were there for the Dine Around Seattle menu and all very much enjoyed it. Decided on the Dine Around Seattle menu: Leek & Camembert Tart, Pan Seared Sea Scallops, Pineapple and Basil Sorbet. The tart and sorbet were wonderful. The scallops, however, left something to be desired. They were accompanied by green lentils, bacon, cipollini onions, and leek cream. But rather than being separate flavors augmenting the scallops, they were nearly flavorless (cooked too long?). The scallops themselves were nicely caramelized and tasty. Service is always good here.

Had a delicious meal at this, our first, trip to Chez Shea. Service is extremely attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The food was delicious... not the best in town... but delicious and the plates were always garnished with beautiful herbs and flowers. Loved the albacore crudo and the house salad as well as the scallops. My dining partner had the Barcelona prawns (interesting and thoroughly enjoyable), the beet salad and the Chilean sea bass. Some of the prices, especially for the sea bass, were high. We eat at high-end restaurants all of the time and were a bit surprised at some of the prices. All in all, it was a lovely experience...location, ambiance, service and food. We would definitely go back.

Nice little French restaurant in Pike's market. I had Wagyu beef tartare and it was divine!! Hubby had the Tuna crudo and it was quality fish with nice garnish around it. I was a little disappointed with the entree. Although they were good, I have had better ones somewhere else. The dessert I had was super yummy!!
