  • "Great location in old town. Food was ok. I enjoyed the Dover Sole. A "glass" of wine was merely a mouthful! Less than one inch in the glass!! We questioned the size of the serving and were told that it was reduced b/c we had "tasted it". Outrageous! ok but wouldn't rush back."

  • "We had great expectations, since this restaurant has one of the best reputation in the Pld Montreal. As a matter of fact, the food was delicious. We could not have ask for better. The reason why we would not give it 5 stars, is beacause the way we were greated. Very disapointing for such a restaurant. The maitre D does not know how to smile. No eye contact.to great us. When we sat down at our table he did not pull my chair as good restaurant do. These are small details, but in such a place, greating clients should be a priority! I would recommend, but advice not to expect to much from the maitre D!"

  • "I was very excited to try out Chez Queux with 3 friends, but we all ended up being a little disappointed. Disappointed with the food, as we had higher expectations, and disappointed with the price... it was certainly not worth all that money (even with coupons!). However, the sommelier made us discover the best white wine ever, which we are very grateful for. I have to add we used coupons, and the food we tried with these coupons is usually not even on the regular menu. So, I'm not sure my review is relevant (at least for the food), but the restaurant did chose that menu... we will not go back."

  • "Just a total excellent experience from the coat checking to the food, wime and ambiance. We had an excellent waiter, who was around to take care of our every need, but not overly attentive. Even the walk to the restaurant was fun in the snow of Montreal. Prices were ball park for a great restaurant in Montreal. We had a great time and have some pictures to prove it. We will definately dine there again on our next trip to Montreal"

Service was efficient but tad snooty - made us feel like we were in Paris. The sommelier made a great choice but went on way too long with his description. Overall, a lovely find and a great tourist spot (we are locals but still appreciated it.)"

  • "A charming haute French experience in Montreal's Old Quarter. Wonderful ambiance, excellent food. The ceasar salad for 2 was excellent and preapred table-side. We had a lovely meal and then walked 2 short blocks to Piano Rouge - to hear some live music and have an after dinner drink. Perfect evening!"

  • "My husband, daughter and two of her friends and I dined at the restaurant on Saturday night. We were seated promptly and the wait staff was excellent - attentive but not intrusive. The wine list was wonderful as was the Montreal Restaurant week menu. My daughter and her friends enjoyed the maple glazed salmon and butternut squash soup with bacon. The duck was also lovely and the portion sizes were just right. The maple sugar tarte for dessert was exceptionale. We had a terrific time and would certainly visit again."

  • "We had a party of 8, and it was a bit of a tight fit with three tables put together. The space is better suited to smaller groups. The service was very good, however there was a dish I would have liked to have tried but it included an ingredient I am allergic to; I asked if it could be prepared without this ingredients, but was told "no". I was disappointed because it was not an integral ingredient to the dish, and similar requests I've made elsewhere have been accommodated with no problem. The dish I ordered instead was excellent (beef tenderloin), perfectly done medium-rare, with nice vegetables including a delicious potato "terrine" (not sure if that's the correct name for the potato). Overall, everyone's food was excellent."

  • "Awful service eventhough the restaurant was not full. The waiter was serving wine over the table in crossing the guests. Awful atmosphere. The food was good though. But still, I did not like the experience. Ask a waiter what's in the appetizer and he cannot answer you, unacceptable. Had to ask for the menu, unacceptable. Had to ask for more water, unacceptable. Had to serve yourself and your friends wine, unacceptable. Had to ask for the check at only 9:30 when all waiter are cleaning glasses, unacceptable. It is my first time to write a review and normally, I am pretty tolerant but this time after spending 400$ for 4 people, I would have expected a higher level of service. I forgot to mention that this adds up to an error in our order."

  • "Our waiter was attentive. Enjoyed having some of the meals prepared table side, like the Cesar salad. Steaks prepared table side are just basically seared by your table, not actually cooked by your table. I ordered the duck medium and thought it was a little rare when it arrived (waiter even made comment about it but not till he picked up my plate). Turned out cook knew what he was doing as it was tender and moist. Did not have dessert since we were so full with dinner, good size portions. Nice ambiance, good food in the heart of Old Montreal."

  • "We found this looking for a reservation as it is tough to get a table on a Saturday in the Old Port. It was a pleasant surprise. It was right in the middle of things, but very old school with table side service, charm, and patient, conscientious service. It is a bit expensive, as are most of the restaurants in that part of town, I had the $47 table hote and it was wonderful."

  • "An outstanding dining experience. Each course provided an opportunity for table-side preparation. The caeser salad for two was excellent, prepared with great flair by our server. My main course, filet mignon with shrimp sauteed in whiskey... once again, the table side prep was accomplished with an elegant touch and both were exquisite. My wife's Chilean sea bass with lobster was perfectly executed. For dessert, we enjoyed the classic cherries jubilee flambeed at tableside. Quiet and comfortably elegant. The team approach to serving was well choreographed with the maitre d', server, and backwaiter all present at the right times. Located on the main plaza in Old Montreal, this is a quiet gem in the midst of the busy crowds."

  • "Découvert par le biais de Tuango, mais on retournera surement. La cuisine est raffinée. De l'entrée au dessert, tout était succulent. Le service est très courtois en plus le serveur le plus âgé nous a recommandé un vin à notre goût et "à notre porte-feuille". Le serveur le plus jeune est aussi très attentionné et il a un sens de l'humour d'un très bon goût. Le style du resto est vieillot mais je crois que c'est le cachet recherché. L'ambiance est propice au romantisme. En plus bien situé, on faisait une belle randonnée au Vieux Port avant et après le dîner. On retournera c'est sur."

  • "My husband and I were in Montreal for our anniversary weekend. We selected this through open table and was not disappointed. The ambience is very interesting (in a good way), has an old fashion feel and could afford an upgrade, but actually that is part of its charm. Best of all service was outstanding and the food was excellent. When I only ate half of my codfish special (which was delicious) because the portion was quite generous, the chef came to ask if there was something wrong and if i wanted something else. when I insisted it was just due to the fact that i was stuffed, they insisted on giving me a free glass of wine. Overall, great service, great food...you cannot go wrong."

  • "Went on a Wednesday night for dinner with my mom (her gift for my bday). Had the foie gras as appetizer and duck as main, both plates that I don't usually order because I'm not crazy about French cuisine in general. But was pleasantly surprised. The setting is very 'old'. Old wooden walls, paitings, velvet drapes, carpet. The crowd was older too."
