Didn't get to dIne because they were closing. They said they close at 11:30, I told them to update their hours of operation because I made a RSVP for 11:30 and I drove all the way from Queens, very starved. I was highly displeased

Service and food have deteriorated since we had a brunch and dinner (both memorably good) here 2 years ago. Most of us ordered the pasta special, which supposedly was pasta with pesto sauce and chicken. None of us tasted pesto on the overdone pasta and I'm also pretty sure the sauce came out of a jar. The chicken cutlet on top was rubbery and had no flavor. Our server pronounced Sea Bass "Sea Base" when reading through the specials.

Our choice was to stay in our neighborhood for a Bastille Day French feast. We had not been to CO for years, only because it is NY, so many restaurants, so little time. It did not disappoint! The room is friendly and comfortable. We were early and were greeting and seated warmly, each dish was beautifully served and delicious. We will be back more often. A special note on the cod entree, as good as it gets.

Arrived with a group of Manhattanites who loved the decor, food and Fort Greene vibe. Had a delicious meal at a round table conducive to sharing and conversation. It was an after theatre early dinner and everyone was pleased. We shared a great bottle of St. Emilion and the uptown girls wished they had such a bistro in their neck of the woods.

Food wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. The server seemed lost, and managed to forget about everything we asked for (steak knife, etc.). Our drinks didn't arrive until after our second course. It was Valentine's Day. Here's the thing. V-Day is easy for a restaurant. Fixed menu. Parties of two. Easy. This place just wasn't up to it. I can't see any reason to avoid the place, but there's no reason to head there. Oddly, the cheese course added 50% to the prixe fix. Seems out of hand.

This restaurant has a number of tasty dishes. I have been here in the [ast and wanted to introduce it to a friend. They offer different specials on different days. The website boasts a prix fixe, however upon arrival they say they no longer do this. After pressing the issue, a pf menu was offered. They need to update their 'new' webpage. If its advertised on the webpage it needs to be honored by the restaurant.

Under time pressure to get to BAM Harvey they were really accommodating and managed the courses gracefully and expertly. Hanger steaks were really good, as was the wine. Cornish hen was well prepared. apple martini, desserts, all terrific. Very nice, relaxed ambiance. Would definitely go again.

We have been coming to this place for several years now - it has not let us down once. The food is great - large portions for French food is a rare thing but here it's a norm. The staff is polite and professional. They had a slight delay with our order and apologized multiple times while we were waiting.

My guests and I really enjoyed our 10:30 PM supper on a Saturday night at Chez Oskar. Two of us ordered burgers, which were excellent, except for the rather tired commercial, untoasted rolls; the third had the hangar steak, which needed seasoning, but was otherwise quite good. The kitchen was very accommodating about a vegetable substitution, which was nice.

From the time I walked in and no one even told me that someone would be with me shortly to the warm water to the watermelon beet salad with few beets and watermelon rind to the poached striped bass with tough vegetables, it was all bad. Nothing more to say. Dined there years ago and didn't return until the other evening. Now, I remember why.

Dined here 5 years ago & would have given a 5 Star on that dinner. On this visit the tastefulness was not consistent across meals. We started with the mussels which was excellent. My daughter had the burger which was excellent; my son grilled cheese was not grilled; my risotto was almost like simple rice & not risotto, but the trout that came along with the risotto was excellent; my husband had the daily fish special & was too fishy in taste. it's a gem & I would like to see it survive, however the chef needs to focus on consistency. It's quite charming & I will return for the mussels, oh yea...& the wine.

Chez Oskar has become my restaurant of choice. Anytime I have friends or family in from town this is the place to go. The food is always amazing and you can actually hold a conversation without yelling like most New York restaurants. My boyfriend and I go for the various music nights for a relaxing evening also. I would highly recommend to anyone.

I hadn't been to Chez Oskar in quite some time. I generally like it quite a bit. They're known for very friendly but typically slow service. This evening in particular was slower than typical. Fortunately, the staff and GM, were very apologetic about it, as "the printer missed our order" - and offered us cocktails in the meantime. The food was quite good when it finally arrived. Also - there was a delightful local band that night, singing jazz standards. very enjoyable.

I'm glad I finally got to Chez Oskar! The service was excellent; attentive but not intrusive. The food; Tuna Tartar, Country Pate, and Lobster Crepe were first rate, Braised Short Ribs were fall off the bone delicious, the Salmon and Lamb were perfectly done. The ambiance is old French Bistro, the crowd was mixed and very lively. Can't wait to go back!!

We are favorite diners here. Chez is our date night spot, and never fails. This time, I veered off from my regular order, fabulous hangar steak with three sauces, and ordered the Coq au Vin. Not a good choice. The chicken was dry and tasted warmed over. could be the crowds on a saturday night, and the rust of the orders all at one time. And my drink was not the same as usual...different bartender.

I haven't had dinner in Ft Greene in a while but Chez Oskar has been a mainstay in the neighborhood for years. We went early on a Friday, but the restaurant filled up very quickly. The lobster crepe appetizer lacked the richness you'd expect from that kind of dish. The rabbit entree was so salty that I only had one bite and just ate the accompaniments. The server, seeing that the protein was still on my plate when we were done didn't even ask if I wanted anything else. The desserts were the best part of the meal. We shared ricotta cheesecake which wasn't overly sweet and a rich but smooth chocolate mousse cake. I'd definitely give the restaurant another try but couldn't recommend it based off of this visit.

Been here a few times but a definite off-night. Lukewarm food, short-ribs contained huge gobs of fat (surely the long, slow cooking should have melted it). Disappointed. Will give it another go: it's definitely been better in the past.

Visiting from the UK, we wanted somewhere decent to eat on New Year's Eve, before a concert at the Barclays Centre. This restaurant is ten mins walk away, and the food is great. As it was new year eve, the menu was fixed, but we still had a nice choice for each course, along with complementing wines for each dish. With three teens in toe, sometimes menus are limited, but we all left very happy to go to to the gig. Service is efficient and friendly, and pricing is fair. Would definitely return to Brooklyn to visit this place, give it a try!

Price was more than reasonable. Even though we had finished, we never felt rushed or pushed out even though they were still turning over tables all around us. They allowed us to enjoy the atmosphere during our reunion. Everyone left extremely satisfied. Thank you Chez Oskar!!!!

Delivery here has been quite yummy. However, on our last visit, I made a reservation for 7. When we arrived the waitress told me that she had us down for 7:30. I showed her confirmation of the 7 reservation on my phone; she was unapologetic about the mistake and told us we had to wait for a table to open up because of how she had set up the tables that evening. What would have made a difference was an apology and something comped since we chose to wait it out. Instead we got slow service and service with an attitude. Nevertheless, yummy=frites, mussels in Thai sauce, mussels in mustard cream sauce. Beware that Tuesday night all you can eat mussels and frites is actually only 1 serving of frites, not all you can eat.
