Diner Reviews
  • "We went to Chez Moi with another couple for date night. It was delicious! Our friends were not very familiar with French food but enjoyed every bite. We loved passing through the kitchen to be seated in the back section of the restaurant. The Chef was so kind to greet us as we left as well. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a beautiful setting."

  • "We wanted someplace we had not dined at and this turned out to be a wonderful surprise. For once none of the four of us ordered the same thing and everyone thought they had a great meal. We will be back."

  • "I had never tried this place before but love the area it's in so thought if give it a shot. Brought my family there and we all loved it! Brunch had great choices (all delicious) and the service was fantastic- very personable waitress. I would definitely suggest this place"

  • "Chez Moi has consistently been such a great spot for me to take my family and friends. A girlfriend and I came in to have a "catch-up" dinner and we ended up staying for almost 3 hours without even realizing it! Ive always felt welcome here and the food is delicious to top it off. The only disappointment was that we couldnt eat more. Michael was fantastic, we told him we were taking it slow and never once did I feel we were trying to be pushed out. He made excellent recommendations and was super nice! He is definitely one of the reasons we will be back. Also those minimal bad reviews I see, I refuse to believe them having that bad of an time, my advice is to try Chez Moi for your own experience. I've never had a bad anything here!"

  • "We came here after a look at the positive reviews and were not disappointed. The service was absolutely outstanding, the food was absolutely delicious, the ambiance was absolutely cozy with a hint of romance ( noise level was reasonable for a Saturday night), and just overall we had such a great time we cant wait to come back!"

  • "The dining room is charming. The ambience is so French and big city at the same time. Cozy without overkill. The chef is the most charming guy ... really. He is the consummate host. You'll see him in the dining room greeting and chatting and laughing right along with the guests. And don't think he's slacking off in the kitchen. He's an amazing executor but he's also trained his staff so well that he can leave the kitchen and everything still comes out perfectly. The onion tart is so authentic and tasty. His Brittany cake is to die for. Save room for dessert. And watch for his specials and specialty dishes. You won't be disappointed. And you can get out of there with a reasonable bill!"

  • "We chose Chez Moi because of good memories of the chef's work at Bistro 110, where all 5 of us had dined in the past. As it turned out, the valet service was the highlight of the evening. From the seating arrangements to the fact that the bartender was tasked as our server, it was a comedy of errors. Several of the lowlights included: an item (fish special) that was sent out mistakenly instead of the duck entree that was ordered, a Lyonnaise salad with overcooked eggs that was sent out with the entrees when it was specifically requested as a separate course, non-existent service of the two bottles of wine that we ordered, and the fish entree and returned salad not removed from the first bill. I've gotten better service at Susie's drive-in."

  • "My girlfriend and I reside in Virginia, but we were in Chicago for the Hair show. She invited me along for the weekend, but said I was to be in control over finding a place to eat for us. I attempted to do my due diligence and research on romantic places in the Chicago area that I was hoping she would like. I found the list of top restaurants in Chicago in 2013 and Chez Moi was on that list. Chez Moi was very profession. Not only did they call me to confirm the reservation the day after I made it, but they also called me the night of the reservation to let me know that our table was ready for us. The food was incredible and the portion size was perfect for us both. I would highly recommend Chez Moi to anyone, especially for a romantic meal."

  • "The food was great. The service was perfect. For some reason everyone in the restaurant carried on their conversations at the top of their lungs. I can't eat in that atmosphere."

  • "Nice above average little spot in Lincoln Park. Little older crowd. You have to like French food and French wines. I recommend adding a nice California Cabernet to the wine list. Miss Mickey the bartender. She was terrific. Chef is very nice."

  • "We decided to try this restaurant based off chef wk pics and prior reviews, however we were not so impressed. We chose to dine on our anniversary. To start, the chef preset menu was not appealing to us so we ordered off regular menu.Chez didnt have persecco ok fine, the waiter brought us very stale bread. My son ordered the tenderloin ,was very bland no seasoning ,dull....my husband ordered the trout which he said was not bad but nothing special,I ordered salmon which was fair,just...fair. The waiter never asked us if we wanted refills on our drinks which we had finished waiting for our dinners. The highlight was the desert, mousse and ice cream. So sorry we spent just under 200$ for mediocre on our anniversary."

  • "When we arrived we looked at the Menu and the waitress told us of the fixed price menu. She said it was $24 and my wife and I heard her say that. When the bill came it was $44 each. The waitress asked the Manager to talk to us and we told him what she said. He said that can't be and we said that is what we heard. Now neither of us is hard of hearing. All we expected from the Manager was sorry for that we will offer you dessert or something."

  • "Love this place as I have been here three times and it's been great each and every time. Friendly staff, great good, and I find the wine list to be a great effort to provide great wine and reasonable prices. Unlike many places the wine list here has a fantastic bell curve with the plethora of wines falling into the $24-48 range allowing you to find a reasonable bottle that is a great example of the region. Really great list to work with and on top of it I feel like I can grab a second bottle without breaking the bank. Food is a mix of what you want for a bistro plus some creative items that are very good. Well executed and presented. Excellent quality and great taste. My new default French spot."

  • "really good French restaurant with different food choices"

  • "The food was really good and the service was excellent (I recalled our waiter from the Red Rooster days at the same location). The decor is cozy, warm and inviting and the sound level is perfect. It's energetic and loud enough to have a private conversation but not so loud that it overwhelms you. The cocktails were as tasty as they were pretty. The wine selection by the glass, however, was pretty awful. The by-the-glass list tasted like cheap or open-too-long house wine. Although I don't recall the names of each, the malbec-esq (since they don't have a malbec -- not surprisingly for a French restaurant), pinot noir and both cabs were terrible. Drinkable, but in retrospect not worth the effort and drinking wine should not entail "effort.""

  • "Chez Moi is one of our favorite neighborhood dining spots. It is friendly, comfortable and romantic with a delicious menu. I highly recommend it! We were there on a crowded, sub-zero evening and the waiter performed with efficiency and grace - very professional. He had great suggestions about the wine. I found vegetarian options and a fish while my companions were delighted with cassoulet and short ribs. Chez Moi is dependable but never pedestrian!"

  • "From the warm, personal greeting from the owner's partner to the attentive service, Chez Moi offered a respite from the cold and a cozy Monday meal for my out-of-town guest. They were solicitous for her allergies and assured she did not receive an unknown igredient in her meal. Try the short rib!"

  • "This was not our first time to this neighborhood bistro. The owners and staff are always friendly and welcoming. The food is sophisticated yet heart warming. We were marking our daughter's birthday. She got a candle on her dessert and that just the amount if attention she needed. The atmosphere is lively but not noisy. Really the best place to go to for any occasion. This is our new favorite."

  • "the quail appetizer was flavorful and delicious and my strip steak was cooked to perfection- so much so i wanted to lick my plate of it's burgundy sauce. and the chocolate cake- oh my! pure decadence... my one criticism- there was no music... ?"

  • "What I love most about this restaurant is how 'at home' I feel whenever I'm there. The staff greet you warmly, are very attentive and knowledgeable, and you never feel rushed or that your 'special needs' (e.g., vegan, gluten-free) are a hassle. I love taking friends and colleagues there--for no matter your tastes or your 'criteria' for a 'good restaurant', they're happy, walking out contentedly every time. Enjoy!"

  • "Chez Moi serves a a variety of French offerings for every course. From the Trio salad to the profiteroles, we were very pleased with our dinners. Even on a busy Saturday night, the owner made time to check on every table to see if we were satisfied with our food/service. I am sorry that I do not remember the name of our server, but she was terrific and made sure that everything came as requested."

  • "The escargot was a little bland. Scallops were great, duck was ok. I personally like the Chinese version better. Wine was good. Our server was friendly, offered to change our dessert, cookie cake?, when I remarked it was too hard. She changed it to the mousse which was much better. I would come back and try the mussels."

  • "We went with our best friends for Sunday brunch. Service was friendly and impeccable. The wild mushroom omelet and smoked salmon crepe were fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The french onion soup and steak frite with eggs are also a must have! Don't forget the dessert... to die for!!! Thanks, Chez Moi!"

  • "Probably the most delicious foie gras dish we've ever tasted! The flavors/textures were so well balanced and it was cooked to perfection. We also shared the french onion soup and our spoons were fighting to the last drop - the swiss cheese was a nice change from the usual gruyere. For our entrees, we enjoyed the duck breast and the cassoulet. Both were cooked so well and again, a great balance of flavors! We were so stuffed, but couldn't resist the brittany cake. Holy smokes! perfect end to a wonderful dinner! We'll definitely be back!"

  • "Had received great reviews, but was let down by dull waitressing and good, but not incredible food on Valentines day. waitress nor delivery explained what the food was, some food was delivered cold. Nice ambiance."

  • "We visited Chez Moi for Valentine's Day which normally going out on that day can lead to a disaster due to wait times and sometimes bad service. We had a reservation and did not even wait for 1 minute to be seated. The food was prompt, the service was great and everything was simply delicious. They had a special Valentine's menu but if they ever have seared scallops or bass over a bean sauce, I recommend both of those dishes!"

  • "I absolutely always love the entire dining experience at Chez Moi, but as someone who also likes trying new places, last Friday I ended up trying somewhere down the street. My boyfriend and I did, however, skip dessert at that restaurant and head straight to CM for the Brittany Cake - it's the VERY BEST."

  • "Food was excellent as always. Had the house cassoulet. A member at our table ordered the Duck Shepherd's Pie, and claimed it was the best French food he'd eaten in North America. Waitress was not on par this evening. She forgot to place the order for our kids' food and had forgotten to bring our drinks, but it was all corrected by the manager. Even with the mishap, the evening was enjoyable as the food is superb. Will definitely go here again!"

  • "The onion and bacon tart, as well as the baked garlic gloves are worth a visit to Chez Moi. The restaurant was full on a snowy cold Chicago evening which is evidence that the food is excellent."

  • "This really is a neighborhood gem but wasn't worth the lengthy cab ride from our downtown hotel. The good was great, the service spotty, and the ambience (in the back room) nonexistent. If we had been fortunate nough to be in the front room and if we had had an experienced server, our experience might rate five stars."

  • "My partner and I decided to go here for our anniversary and we couldn't be more happier with our decision. This place is elegant but not over the top. Upon entering I couldn't help but notice the bar. It was so inviting that I had to have a drink there. Had a French Martini which tasted just like the ones I had when I was living in Paris. So good! Our waiter was super friendly and the food was really really good. Honestly, this place exceeded my expectations and I will be back again."

  • "Took my girlfriend here for brunch Super Bowl Sunday. Not that many people in there so service was really fast. At first look it seems like a small restaurant but in fact there are 2 rooms. Nicole was great. She helped us pick our meals knowing that we didn't eat beef or pork. The smoked salmon crepe was AMAZING!! And the mimosas were delicious."
