  • "We have been coming to this restaurant for fifteen years. It's the perfect before theatre dinning experience. The food is par excellence. The-service, attentive and friendly. The ambiance, charming and romantic. You can't go wrong here. We travel and eat in some of the finest restaurants in this country. This is the one we always return to. We highly recommend it for a fine evening out."

  • "We hoped to find a fine dining experience for our final meal out in the San Diego area. This lovely historic building, once a home, offered a restaurant with an interesting menu. Chez Loma was beyond all expectations: quiet, nicely appointed room; superior service; delicious tenderly crafted courses with French influence. But wait! There's more! If you order before 6PM, the fixed price three course meal is a value to savor. Enjoy."

  • "What a charming restaurant! The staff was so friendly and helpful! The food was amazing. I struggled to eat the last few bites but It was so amazing I wasn't going to leave a bite on my plate and I had no way to take leftovers since I was traveling. Highly recommend!"

  • "As a disabled executive dinner from Washington DC one of my always stops in San Diego has been Chez Loma. Always either my first or second night in town. Wonderful food, quiet intimate dinning, and a ginger bread cake to finish the evening to die for. Tonight upon my arrival I was not offered the dinning room via access ramps rather placed in the noisy wine bar with a patrons rear end in my wifes' and my face. I do not come to a establishment for a fine French dinner spending $100 a person (with a fine wine) to be immediately seated in a noisy bar and not offered the dinning room spaces - of this charming Coronado turn of the century home. It was an insulting experience. My loss assuredly."

  • "We walked by one afternoon and decided it looked like somewhere we'd like to try, and we are glad we did. The Ceviche is amazing...Chilean Sea Bass was outstanding as well. Nice wine list (not extensive but good choices). We would recommend to visitors and locals!"

  • "My wife and I are foodies for Manhattan...so we are very selective...we moved to San Diego on January 31, 2014 - busy with unpacking and getting our new place ready...so far, Chez Loma was the best meal we have had in San Diego. The food was exquisite...with the look and feel of a "French Laundry" type of atmosphere. It was my birthday - all the dishes was fabulous...I highly, highly recommend to pay a visit...you will not be disappointed...perfect for a date or romantic setting for a couple... The waitress was a hoot...great sense of humor and did not steer us wrong for what to choose from the menu...ask for recommendations! We will be coming back to Chez Loma very soon!"

  • "We had a wonderful meal at Chez Lomas. As we were walking in we were greeted by the hostess and the chef. We discussed the fact that we have problems with gluten and they assured us everything would be fine. We enjoyed appetizers and main courses. My husband had the coq au vin and said it was excellent. The wait staff was friendly and very cautious that our meals were gluten free. I wish we could have had the bread (it looked delicious). Overall we had a wonderful evening and we'll return the next time we are staying in Coronado. It was walking distance to our hotel."

  • "We went there for dinner before the show at the Lamb's Player Theater. Our time was short. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived. The server was top notch. The busboy was very polite and considerate. We had the beef and the sea bass both were great! Wine by the bottle was half price that night which was a bonus. Our check was ready as we had asked and we made it to the show with plenty of time to spare. We both highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!"

  • "my wife and I celebrated our 31st anniversary. We were in a small room which was very quiet and pleasant until they brought a three some with a loud conversation . My main course was scallops which were only three. They were delicious but I expected five or more. Left hungry still."

  • "Try it once and you'll be back. Try it twice and you'll be hooked for ever! Chez Loma is a quaint little romantic hideaway where you and your significant other will be spoiled beyond your wildest expectations with the best French cooking and wine menu in San Diego. It has the feel of a French vineyard restaurant, the charm of the finest 5-star find in the heart of Paris, w/the convenience of being footsteps from the beach. FRESH, FRESH, FRESH !!! Everything is SO FRESH and SO DELICIOUS !!! And, don't forget to pickout a wine to enjoy with your meal. If you have limited wine selection experience, don't worry. Your waiter/waitress will help you get the paring of food and wine just right. Treat yourself to the Best! ... Enjoy! JH & MV"

  • "This was our second dinner here, and we had really hoped that this time it would be better! On the positive side - excellent service. Nice ambiance. But, multigrain rolls instead of warm crunchy French bread made me sad. The butter was nice and soft. Very tasty ceviche! Onion soup was solid. But the caeser had wilted lettuce, and little not very flavorful dressing. The crab crusted halibut was "fishy". The beef Borgninon's meat was over cooked - a bit chewy instead of tender. And the pavlova was terrible! Basically a meringue in a strawberry soup with liquid cream all over it. Thank goodness the caramel gingerbread was Devine, so we ended on a happy note. Thankfully there are three other French restaurants in San Diego with fantastic food."

  • "We have been to this restaurant twice recently. The first time the restaurant was busy and the service was slow. This time we went early and sat in front by the bar. The restaurant was not busy but the service was still very very slow. The bar waitress forgot to bring my wine and each course was very slow. I will not go back because the restaurant is grossly understaffed or the waitresses are poorly trained. The food is OK but not great."

  • "In a charming house with a very cool bar at the entrance, the vibe is welcoming and intimate. Small rooms with exquisite art on the walls are complimented by French pop music from bygone eras and warm indirect lighting. We began our meal with the harvest pate; rich, moist and laden with a pepper crust. Our entrees were the Beef Bourginone and the Lamb Chops. The beef was accompanied by carrots and a sumptuous wine sauce that enhanced the tenderness and texture of the meat. The Lamb Chops (4) were plump and bursting with flavor although a wee undercooked. We shared a gingerbread desert that was a bit dense but the Irish coffee offered a satisfying completion to a great evening. Our server, Justin, was knowledgeable, polite and professional."

  • "The bar service was great, the wait staff was lacking. Until we ordered an expensive bottle of wine the wait staff (two gentlemen) did not even glance in our direction. I actually ordered one of the more expensive bottles as an experiment...the wine was great! Once we had "proved" ourselves as viable customers we were attended as any and every customer should be on any occasion. We were well dressed, polite and perhaps too assuming that these qualities would garner good service. The younger of the two gentlemen was especially disdainful. Pretty reprehensible considering I am a chef, (private but once at Le Bernardin)the younger snot nosed jerk who we couldn't even flag down in the one room dining area needs a hip check at best."

  • "My wife joined me for a conference at the Hotel del Coronado. We decided to go eat out of the resort one evening and found this gem--an old house with a comfortable bar area and small, delightful rooms. The service was terrific and the food quite good--not the best we've had, but far better than the average good restaurant. So if you're in the area take a short stroll off campus."

  • "We couldn't have had a nicer evening; from the warm smile and pleasant greeting when we arrived to the attentive service and the delicious meal. The decor is tastefully done; the dining room is both comfortable and stylish. I had the crabcake in phyllo for a starter and it had a wonderful gentle flavor. My entrée was the steak and frites; the steak was tender, but with a rich flavor and the fries - warm, thin, and crisp. We had the merengue with creme anglaise and berries for dessert, which was light and a wonderful end to our meal. The waitress also gave us a great wine suggestion. The prices were reasonable given the superb quality of the food, the portions comfortable, and the atmosphere very attractive."

  • "Meager portions, food was only good, not great, and prices were exorbitant. The service and atmosphere were better than the food. Our memory of this place, from years ago, was not the same. We came back based on a fond memory, but were sorely disappointed. I wouldn't recommend it."

  • "Authentic French food and ambiance in the heart of Coronado. Service impeccable - I ate at this restaurant twice in one week. Will definitely return on my next trip to Coronado. The makeover of the house and small rooms adds to the cozy feel. Food was incredible!"

  • "We needed to meet with our Daughter and Son-in-law for a business meeting, we also meet once a week for 'Family Night'. We decided to combine the two events and head to Chez Loma. Service was impeccable, there was none of this constant interruption by the server which we appreciated; by the way which is not necessary if you have made note of your clients' needs in the first place! Food is superb, good all round choice with a French flair. A gem in the neighbourhood; try something new and visit Chez Loma you won't be disappointed."

  • "I was surprised to taste that the food was so excelent, the quality of the flavors were superior to any other restaurants that I have tasted in San Diego. I highly recommend it, also the athmosphere is very warm with very lovely background low music. I am very happy that I went to this restaurant."

  • "Loved this place. Cute location, newly remodeled. Staff was young, attentive, helpful. Had the vibe that staff were local kids wanting and doing a great job. Waitress suggested dessert, and it was best gingerbread cake I ever had. Diverse menu."

  • "I had a filet mignon pepper-crusted steak. It was very good, but not as good as you get at the top steak houses. My wife had sea bass which she said was fresh and had a good flavor but it was a thick hunk of fish which was quite under-done in the center. The appetizer (crab cakes) and dessert were both very good as were the sides with the entrées. So we had to give the food just 4 stars. Our server, Sabrina, was excellent - very attentive and great personality. In all, we had an enjoyable meal and will probably try this restaurant again."

  • "My husband and I wandered into Chez Loma, unplanned, on the day we were married on the beach in front of the Del. Ten years later, we've moved to Wisconsin from California and returned to Coronado to celebrate our anniversary. Friends joined us at Chez Loma and it was a perfect evening. We all enjoyed our leisurely meal immensely. We'll look forward to another fabulous meal in a lovely setting in 2023."

  • "Have returned for three years running on vacation in SD over Christmas holidays. Very attentive service. However, need to watch the wine prices. We order a glass, thinking that it was half price (between 5 PM and 6 PM, but the discount was only three dollars, giving a net price of $9/glass. Good wine, but not worth the money. Maybe we misunderstood our waitress on the pricing. Previously, we've bought bottles, and found the full bottle prices to be consistent with the quality of the establishment. The Prix Fixe menu between 5 Pm and 6 PM is good value..."

  • "My husband and I stayed at the Del for New Years Eve. But we didn't want to devote our entire stay there either ! Choosing another place within arms reach , making it an activity as well. Yes, it was breathless to Chez Loma-closer than I thought- like not even a 5 minute walk. Plus wanted to support small businesses. Did reserve on Open Table which appreciated so much! Painless. What we experienced due to HOLIDAY dining was a set menu! The Food was GREAT! Quality was amazing-but have to share felt like I was at a banquet. Usually when any set menus (most do this during Holiday dining the food isn't individual made or made to order. Great Food! Think it would show its 5 star with Normal Dining!"

  • "My wife's dietary restrictions dictate that we must be careful where we dine, so I make it a point to correspond with the chefs at the restaurants where we intend to dine before our arrival, to give them "heads up" on her needs. No problem at Chez Loma. Chef Alex still had her list from our last visit! Not only does Chef Alex make sure that she gets what she needs, but he also makes sure that she has a wonderful meal! Same for me. This was our third visit to Chez Loma, and every meal has been the same - perfect - even on Christmas Eve! Our intention is that we will NEVER visit Coronado without having dinner at Chez Loma."
