We have been been at Chez Henri's before, but it was a long time ago. We only went this this because a colleague lives close by. The menu is American, not French, by choices and by (humongous) size of portions. My "Steak Frites" which in reality American dinner with a ton of fries covered by by some slaps of meat tasted ok, but did not warrant its price. The atmosphere is very train-station like, with table arrangements and lights which don't make it cozy at all. Upon request, there was no Perrier or other bottled sparkling water available, which we have always at home or at dinner outside. The reasoning was that soda from the fountain would be environmentally more friendly (ok), but why not fill it in a nice reusable bottle ?

With the promise of French/Cunab fusion, I was looking for stronger flavors, especially in the mussels appetizer. That said, the flounder with lobster sauce was divine and my spouse enjoyed the dumplings.

French bistro fare but definitely made upscale (shows in the price). Flavors are delicious and everything is perfectly salted. All the steak frites is on the pricier side, the fries are perfect (hard to find with most average price steak frites) and steak is always cooked exactly the way you want it (medium rare). If you can catch them when they have blanquette de veau as the special, definitely get that. The bar food has always been consistently good. Smaller bar menu, but the each item is done really well. Cubano and caipirinha is the way to go. Bar itself is small but worth the wait for a seat.

We had a lovely experience at Chez Henri, from the service to the food to the atmosphere. There was a buzz but we were able to talk. We live in the neighborhood and it is a treat to be able to walk to the restaurant but we generally save it for more special occasions due to the cost.

But the noise level got so loud we had to leave. Carpet on the floor would make a huge difference.
