Came here for an impromptu brunch and was expecting only oysters given the name but was so pleasantly surprised. What a cool space - black ceilings, dark food and an front-of-house kitchen where you can watch the cooks in action. I had the Chicken and Waffles for brunch and it was mouthwateringly delicious! I'm not a big fan of waffles but these were homemade, fluffy and so savoury. The chicken was crispy without being greasy and still so juicy inside. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had! My boyfriend had fried chicken eggs benny and raved about the Hollandaise sauce. We will definitely be coming back for dinner (to try the gator)

I have been to Chewies Coal Harbour several times. My previous visits were awesome thanks to excellent, friendly and fun servers and terrific food. I was sorely disappointed after my last visit - it simply did not stand up to expectations. Poor service and so-so food. I understand every restaurant has it's off days, I will likely give Chewies Coal Harbour one more shot but not anytime soon.

I'd heard good things about Chewie's, but was very disappointed with my experience. The food took forever despite the restaurant being less than half full, the waiter seemed more content to hang out with his friends than check on us and there seemed to be unnecessary attitude. I'm unlikely to return.

Chewies has a great menu with intriguing and unusual dining options. Great wine list too. The décor is appealing as well. I had the fresh oysters on the half shell and my friend had the fried green tomatoes. Both were wonderful! Then we both ordered the same entrée which was featured on the Fresh Menu. I believe it was called pork ribs. While the flavour was awesome, the meat was so very tough that it was difficult to eat. It tasted so good though, but I had to leave much of mine as I couldn't chew it. It was also so loaded with salt that both of us died of thirst the rest of the night. We would certainly go back to this place again, but we would order something else. I will order the fried green tomatoes again though! YUM

An instagram craze so i went ahead and tried the southwestern chicken and jambalaya. Good food but i didn't have that wow moment especially for a $20 meal. Shuck-a-buck is a good deal with all their in-house sauce. Wonderful service and great ambiance despite the on-going construction around the restaurant.

I really liked my oysters and the desserts and my husband's mussels were great. The service was a bit slow and a little weird, though. They didn't check up on us much and at one point the waiter came over and took my oyster sauces and gave it to the table next to me. I was like "um hey I'm not done with that" and he said they'd be back shortly. About 5 minutes later he gave them their own sauces and gave me back mine. Still I thought that was a bit unsanitary and kind of unprofessional. They honestly should have had their own sauces to begin with anyway.

Great Food and great service. Loved the Pork Cracklin' appy - oh my goodness! I'd go back just for that! Had the Jambalaya for main and it was THE best I've had. Service was fast and friendly. He checked in on us a few times but wasn't annoying or over bearing in any way which was definitely appreciated. Can't wait to go back, maybe we'll try the Kits location next time to compare.

This was our 3 or 4th visit to this restaurant. Waited a very long time for a waiter to come by, we eventually had to ask for our order to be taken. Which was strange since the restaurant wasn't busy. Ordered the Lobster salad, arrived on old wilted lettuce, edges were turning black. Showed the waiter and he offered to replace it. Didn't bother but picked something else. Beet salad which was much better. Waiter not refill our water glasses, had to self serve. Other customers were doing the same. Will not be returning or recommending this restaurant.

good place for seafood and freshly shucked oysters. Drop by during happy hours and satiate your oyster cravings. Jamalaya was made to perfection; rice was cooked perfectly- soft but not too moist or chewy- it has fully absorbed the sauces and spices. I adore the Hush Puppies; thought they were fried, there was no grease or oil to them. The plate was clean without greasy residue. They have a great beer selection- pls do give them a try. The salad is amazing! Huge portion at a beautiful price. I'd definitely visit again. Staff was friendly and attentive; atmosphere is warm and relaxing; two thumbs up!

It won't blow your socks away, it is just mediocre. Service is poor, and flavour is lacking. It is not what it ascribes to be (bringing New Orleans to Vancouver). I would skip it, to be honest. Chicken and waffles are way too dry, and everything has a sweet tilt to it. The dryness is what gets you though.

We brunched last Sunday at Chewies Coal Harbour and while my partner enjoyed her shrimp and grits I decided to try a couple sides, an uninspired and lumpy bowl of white cheddar grits and an underdone waffle, while crispy on the outside was raw in the middle. Also disappointing was the service with no one coming by to refresh our coffee or water until we were about to leave. Luckily the server to a neighboring table took pity on us and refreshed the coffee when seeing our pleading eyes. This is my first negative experience with Chewies and the last time I'll try brunch at the Coal Harbour location.

I've been looking for a good place to get some southern food. Food was on point! Portion size was great and menu is diverse. On the down side our food took a total of 30 mins to be served upon ordering. Other tables were being served their food and even finished before we received ours. We contemplated on leaving as my group had other plans in the afternoon. Restaurant got very busy for the lunch rush by the time we finished ordering. Our waiter was juggling a handful of tables. We had to flagged down three different employees (hostess and two other waiters) when we needed something and even the bill. I noticed tables beside us as well felt the rush and lack of service. Overall, good food but service needs a huge improvement.

I was a bit skeptical about going here but since we live in the neighbourhood we decided to give it a go, knowing that if our first course wasn't good we could head across the street to Cactus Club. The four of us split two roasted beet salads to start, which were delicious. One serving would be adequate for a lunch course. I'll definitely have that again. Our next course was the panko coated Fanny Bay Oysters, which came piping hot with a touch of heat. Our mains were ribs - delicious, jambalya - on the spicy side but good and crab cakes. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We will be back!

This was my third visit to Chewie's Coal Harbour and I hate to say it, I kinda like the Kits location better. The noise levels here are brutal, my girl friend and I had sore throats at the end of the night! The service is temperamental, some days are better than others. Great job on the appies, good spot for drinks. However main course, Southern Fried Chicken is hands down waaayy better in Kits. I dont know what they do to it here, but it isn't as moist or tasty (not to mention a side of limpy kale did not do it justice).

Firstly the restaurant is in the middle of a construction zone which kind of ruins the atompshere for me however we weren't bothered by the noise just not a pretty sight to see The restuarant was quite loud and my husband and I had to strain to hear each other. Food was good but not great. I had the gumbo and my husband had the kettle pot and unfortunatley we were both disapointed. May be our fault as we were expected the kettle to come with alot more seafood as when we order this item at other restaurants we feel we get more value for our dollar spent. Service was good and the ceasrs were really good as well. All in all, we both left a little disapointed and still hungry.

We went for dinner and wanted to try the fried chicken & oysters. We told the server we were on a time crunch and he happily suggested what to order and what would take too long (which was the fried chicken). We almost left cause we wanted to try the chicken but ended up being able to stay. We ordered the fried chicken right away & and it managed to come out quite quickly! They had taken our time into consideration which was very nice! It got a bit busy and ended up with a different waiter. He was awesome! He explained our oyster platter to us & was enjoyable Everytime he came around. We really appreciated the good service that they all provided. He even gave us a discount on our oysters! Totally went beyond the call of duty. We will be back!

Trendy Vancouver restaurant with great Louisiana style food experience. A nice change from the cookie cutter restaurants in Vancouver. Variety of food on the menu excellent. Consider their half price appetizer specials but check the time. Pricing on the menu very reasonable. Service was efficient and friendly. Odd that we had wine in water glasses. Very noisey restaurant so if you want a quiet relaxing dinner not the place, however, if you want to party and have a energized night where it is hard to talk to your table mates, this is the place. The music was very loud. Parking in the area expensive so make sure you plan ahead. Nice to try but won't go back.

Great restaurant with a New Orleans flair! The oysters were fresh, firm and flavorful & were accompanied by some great sauces. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. He recommended the Southern Fried Chicken for my entree. It was outstanding! A large breast and leg portion was soaked in Buttermilk then battered just right and fried to a golden brown crunch! It is not a fine dining restaurant. More casual & the long, narrow layout with the open kitchen and oyster bar on one side and windows on the other was pleasing, but made for a rather noisy atmosphere... Overall I had a great experience here and would recommend it if you wanted to have a nice casual evening with friends, eat some great oysters, and some southern "comfort food".
